Airwire

Airwire was set up to provide broadband to areas in the west of Ireland where nothing else was available. “We had been providing ourselves with broadband as there was no other option and saw the need among friends and neighbours – especially those who wanted to work from home or operate a business in rural Ireland. What started out as a fairly small provider in the Kinvara region covers now most of Co. Galway, the north of Co. Clare, the south of Co. Mayo and parts of Co. Roscommon.”

Over the last 2 months I have called the Galway technical support for this Company. I have explained our “service” has been consistently poor (PING 115 ms; DownLoad 0.23Mbps; UpLoad 0.08Mbps). Receptionist advises a technician will call us – NO CALL SERVICE RECEIVED !!! – Has this company changed hands – It was never like this before but now is absolutely appalling – The False Promise of SERVICE. What other service is available out there ? FP

VERY UNSATISFACTORY My connection dropped completely this morning after being dodgy for the previous week. I contacted Airwire support wh said they were upgrading the base station I connect to. Got no notification, even though they said they emailed everybody. They made some excuse about my email “spam filter” which I checked but found nothing. Connection back up now -at an average of .5mb YES thats HALF a MB. Completely unacceptable…

Have been with them for a few years as had no other option, so fair fues for providing the service when no one else bothered. Now I have managed to get someone in Eircom to enable my phone line, which wasn’t an option before (my line is a split line, which should be illegal). 1mb max speed for €30 is a pretty meagre offering these days, especially as I can get 2 -3 mb plus phone calls and line for €44 from Vodafone. Also the quality varied a lot, and was unreliable. Airwire need to at least compete with the big boys on speed, but they have obviously become complacent, so bye…
