9.00-5.00 Mon-Fri support Desk – and even within these hours they only promise to “call you back” !!. I’m on 3rd day now, still no call-back.
Paying 73.99/mth for 8MB.
Wouldn’t mind that so much if I could get support.
Weren’t too bad when they were Icecomms – but now they obviously have too many customers and no employees to support them.
If there was decent rural choice they’d have no customers.

Was currently with this company for over 1 year, was paying for 3mb(50euro monthly) download speed, and for the last 3 months my speed is averaging less than 1mb.Constantly emailing them with copies of speed tests to them, for there support to look at, but all they say is they will get support to contact me,which never happens.Constantly goes off for a days, they just blame the weather. So people please stay away from these cowboys, just wish i had found out about this site before i joined ripplecon.I honestly cant understand how this company is still operating.

I must say that this outfit were not as bad for me as what I see reading most of the reviews. This is my second contract with them after dropping them once before. I used Three Broadband for a while then until I had no choice but to part with them due to very slow speed. Anyway I came back to Ripplecom but although I am with them a few years between both contracts I am just about to leave them again…… this time for ever! Like a lot of the people in rural areas I did not have much of a choice but I have recently came upon Nova and they are getting rave reviews so what the hell! I have had no service for three days now and I have had to tell some of my students, who I teach to go away and other business interests have had to be but aside to my cost. So goodby Ripplecom and hello Nova.

Poor service, arrogant people on the phones and after waiting over 2 weeks for a technician to arrive I finally gave up and closed my account only to be told that I had to give 30 days notice (for a service I wasn’t getting).
I really don’t understand how these people are in business, I would have no problem handing over the €45 per month as I have done for the last few years if they made any kind of effort to keep me informed as to what was going on credit me when I wasn’t getting service.
Stay away from these cowboys.

The only thing that is reliable about this service is their direct debit.

They never fail to take my €45 but you won’t get the advertised speeds, ever.

If you have any alternative then go with that. If not, do without internet access.

I live in Meath. Got Ripplecom 2 years ago, now closing my contract with them.
Once I got it installed, broadband worked fine (except for windy days when their antenna for the area got missaligned, ESB outages an such). I was getting around
6 meg. down speed, which is OK for my needs. A month ago it stopped working.
Most likely local fault in their equipment at my premises (not a major area problem). They promised to send an engineer to fix this. Agreed time was two weeks later (due to Christmas bank holidays). So, I took a day off work, was sitting at home waiting for somebody to come fix my connection. Nobody has shown up. When I called them, they said that the storms have damaged infrastructure and they do not
have time for me at this stage. I was told that customer support will get in touch with me to reschedule the visit. That was another two weeks ago. Not a word from them since then. I’ve sent them an e-mail asking to close my account (30 days notice). In the meanwhile, they’ve charged me as usually, even though I haven’t been able to use their services for over a month now. I’ll call them today and if I do not get a refund or they do not fix my connection for the remainder of the contract (30 days notice), I’ll report them to national consumer agency.

To sum it all up if it works you’re OK. Once something goes wrong, it’s easier just to cancel account rather than dealing with them. And remember, before you accept
any contract, always read the small print – will save you a lot of nerves.

Absolutely dreadful broadband! Please please please stay away from these cowboys. They take your hard earned money, and laugh at you with slow, laggy, unreliable broadband and dismal aftersales technical support. I pay €45 a month for 8M broadband, but I average 1-2M, and that’s only if it works at all. It is shocking in this day and age. And they get away with it. They fob you off you excuses and ghost-fixes, but nothing works. Comreg must have a million complaints about these shams by now. And I will be one of them. Terrible service. Terrible ISP.

I joined ripplecom about 3 months ago and am on the up to 8MB/sec package.. when the guy was installing it, i asked would i get 8MB, as i was weary of getting internet because my previous provider was terrible (3g Mobile broadband) and he was 100% honest with me and said most of the time they try their best to get 8MB but the average is 5-6 MB/sec. ever since that i have without fail always been getting at least 5MB/sec. i have on occasion hit the 8MB/sec also. Im not sure what the customer service is like as iv never had a problem and have never had to ring them. But at the start when i was ordering the service etc they were nothing but 100% helpful to me. overall i would recommend to a friend. im currently running ripplecom through a netgear router and have at one stage had 3 mobile phones, 4 laptops, 1 tablet logged onto it and NO lag whatsoever, and was still super fast!!!! 5 star for me!!! love it :)

1) Worst customer service ever
2) Connected to a broken access point and refused to move me to a different antenna
3) 1 Month of phone calls and still didn’t fix
4) When they say “up to X MB/sec” They really mean about .5MB and INSANE latency
5) Dongle is better lol

Ripplecom. A disaster. The server is always down. Tech support & customer service is absolutely appalling. I advised I was quitting with them as the service was crap and I’m paying pig money for it. The customer service girl said ‘ah yeah, you’ll have to send us a mail to advise us of that’ !
Eh, how do I do that when my broadband ain’t working AGAIN’?!

I’m with them for the last 1,5 years and my contract is finished so im looking for new provider at the moment because ripplecom are pure Joke or even beyond that. Everyone stay out of them for your own sake. Speed even up to 7 mb but only when nobody is using it otherwise 2 mb but the signal breaks all the time in the evening giving lags in games and when downloading a file, that will stop it, its impossible to do a thing. Hope my next provider will be better.

These have to be the worst customer service I have ever seen. They honestly don’t give a **** about your custom. I don’t know how they are still in business. Must be all the grants they get off the Gov (meaning ‘us’ the tax payer) to keep broadband in rural areas. Nothing but issues with them. On the 8M broadband, but on a really rare good day, it never exceeded 5M. I don’t actually think the sevice is capable of any more than that as the previous reviewer said. Evening times are a joke. You can’t do the simplest of tasks. The lines are too flooded because of their greed and unreliable equiment. It’s totally constraint in the evenings because too many people are on the same local base station. I honestly don’t think they even have us on 40:1 contention ratio, more like 100:1 IMO.

Now it’s €45 and a cap of 70G p/m. Total robbery.
Please please please look elsewhere, because this provider is a joke.

PS: also a real customer. A fake person could not make this sh*t up.

I don’t know where to start. What a terrible service they provide. Been with them for nearly 2 years on the 8m home package. I think there is actually only 1 person working in the technical department. His name is Cathal. I only get about 1M download in the evenings if I’m lucky. That’s if it works at all. Very unreliable service. When I complain, they boost my connection for a while to keep me happy, then it goes back to the same slow poor performing service.

I was told their 8M package was suitable for gaming, but as another reviewer said, it is just not playable. I’m at least 1-2 seconds behind everyone online. I’m lagging, jumping and skipping, very low frame rate. The broadband just can’t keep up with the game, even though most online games transmit very low bandwidth, like 5kb/sec, it’s crazy small, yet this service cannot cope with even that. High latency and high congestion in the evenings means you can’t do anything really. 40:1 contention ratio means the evening times are a joke.

Not even with Skype, because the video quality is so lagging and poor, it cuts you off.
If you like watching the “buffering” animation on your PC, Tablet, Phone or Console, then this is the broadband solution for you. Avoid at all costs! This is a real customer!

Where to Start. The upto 8mbps is a lie I have been told by a person in the industry that the equipment on my roof while very good Motorola Canopy can do a total of 7mbps aggregate and since I can pass up to 1mbps up the download would be upto 6mbps. I WAS NEVER TOLD THIS I know it is a contended service and I most likely would never have seen the 8mbps but I was led to believe this was a possibility I would have signed up for an up to 6mbps package no problem what I don’t like is been led down the garden path not to mention outages and when you do have problems getting through to tec support is a nightmare they seem to be understaffed not taking away from the people who do that once I was on to them they were helpful and easy to deal with

I am in shock at this, 60+ negative comments, and Pat Mulcahy tries to blame the negative comments on other ISP’s? Is this a film plot??? I had Ripplecom for over a year, yet was only online about 2 months of that. The customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. I’ve worked in CS for years, and even trainees with no clue have preformed better. Their staff just do not care, they are rude, abusive, and five positive reviewshave no idea what they talk about. There are only 4, maybe five positive reviews. Personally I believe these reviews are moor likely to be RC then the negative views are other ISP’s. No other ISP needs to put in a bad review.

Hi,

Another in the list of bad reviews. I have been with ripplecom for 4/5 years. At the start the service was good, but now it drops on a regular basis. While it might only be gone for a few minutes, there have been times when it went for a day or two. Officially you have to have no internet for 3 days before they will refund you any money.

In terms of speed, I would say 200Kb was the average speed. Considering I am paying for up to 8Mbs, that is 2.5% of what they advertise. Allowing for a contention ratio of 1:40, 200kb should represent the slowest speed you would get, and I would expect an average of 2-3 MBs.

I am moving this month to Nova Networks. I hope they work out for me!

Update: They continue with a poor service, but now expect you to pay more for less. They are upping the monthly charge to €45 a month and capping to 70gig. I think it’s time for a change now, this is the last straw. I’d pay it if the service was good, but unfortunately it’s as flaky as a French pastry. They don’t even give a reason why the service is bad, they just ignore you, which is the ultimate poor customer loyalty.

I’ve been with them over a year, on the 8M package. And what a rollercoaster ride it has been! Basically just a terrible terrible service.

For a while, things look fine, but then everything turns to pot like what other reviewers said. Broadband constantly drops, sometimes no service at all. Constant reboots and resets don’t do any good at all.
Forget about using it at evening times. Even during the day or late at night, you’re lucky to get a good speed. I don’t download big, not a ‘heavy user’ (although I was given that excuse once), I stream the odd show, Netflix, college and game, but I still get punished with slow service.

Oh and as for gaming…forget about it, the lag will frustrate you to boiling point where it’s just not worth playing any more. You’re about a half second slower than everyone else, which means you may as well be running about with a stick in your hand.

Forget about getting any substancial or worthwhile support. Their “technical team” pawn you off with excuses if they even bother to reply to your mails. I have honestly lost count how many emails I’ve sent them since my subcription. I have tried rule out everything my end, even bought an expensive DrayTek router with the best settings and security possible. I think they have finally run out of excuses, because they haven’t replied to my emails in 2 weeks. I’m pretty much done with the service, and am not paying them any more. I’d rather have crappy mobile broadband than pay €40 each month to get shafted with this bull.

Ripoffcom is right.

Have you noticed the 5 star ratings come from people using first and surnames?
Clearly they are fake reviews by Ripplecom, Ice used to do the same thing on Boards.ie

The name has changed but the service is the same and it shocks me that the regulatory bodies can’t or probably WON’T do anything about it.

Terrible service all round, no technical support and completely subpar speeds.
DON’T subscribe to this service – even if there’s no alternative.

It simply isn’t worth the hassle and endless calls which will fail to improve the poor service the company provides.

Where to start… don’t bother leaving a voicemail because they don’t call you back. if you hold on it takes ages to get through to customer service, and then they will change a few “settings” to improve things a little. then they will prioritise the next complainant and you’re back to square one.
poor performance, service and quality – speedtest and pingtest don’t lie and show low speed and poor quality with packets being dropped constantly. like someone else said, they only thing that works reliably is the billing every month.

Absolute racket, run away! I recommended this shower to a friend with 2 teenage kids. She ordered the 8mb service months ago and it has limped along since, driving them all to distraction. Speeds almost always less than 1mb, impossible to play online games, watch movies, even simple browsing is painful or impossible. My friend works an hour and a half from home and has had to take half days to get home to be there during Ripplecom work hours so that they can fix it – but either they don’t turn up, don’t call when they say, or whatever they do doesn’t work. Guaranteed they won’t be in business for long, they’re imploding. Don’t even think about it.

I used to be with Digiweb Mobile broadband, and I switched over to Ripplecom’s 8MB package for a bigger download cap [from 15GB to 70GB]. And how do I totally regret it…

My ping was great with Digiweb, but come RC it is near impossible to play games online during the daytime to early evening with CONSTANT non-stop lag spikes. And even in the late evening [3am] my connection still has a tendency to lag every so often.

Ever since I’ve switched over to RC I’ve been unable to do a single “Raid” in World of Warcraft, and as such have had a fallout with the game.. which is distressing because the next expansion is just around the corner.

So if you can get another ISP over Ripplecom in your area, I strongly suggest you avoid RC like the plague it is. More so if you’re a Gamer like me.

I dont give a rats *** what they call themselves, but they are THE WORST BROADBAND PROVIDER IN IRELAND. I mean, eircom can be horrible, vodafone can be horrible and even upc can be horrible, but you have not experienced bad bb till you get ICE(RIPPLECOM). 2 years of no internet, 50e/month, phonecalls and even legal actions, and this company(HAHAHA) is still stealing money off people.

I am a college student who works part time in an it company so internet is very important to me for communication, I also game a lot so good ping is important.

ICE gives shit speeds, shit uptime and most of all shit customer support.

I have contacted COMREG regarding these fools and many of other customers have. ITS A JOKE. THEY ARE A JOKE . Always will be. down with the ****** broadband.

I have to agree with 63 of the comments re service from ripplecom , the other 3 must be, we pay the piper they call the tune like Kevin I was with Lastmile before they were taken over by RC
looking back they were good compared to RC. I am supposed to have a 3mb download connection most nights its down to less that 100k when I complain the answer is just put down to contention contention, even got the contention answer about bad service on a Saturday morning at 09:30 “a lot of or people would be on skype at that time” their only solution is for 150 quid extra we will sell you the 8mb package I think that rather than supplying a max download rate there should be a minimun download rate set for all connections hopefully there will be competition for this isp soon

We as a company were with Amocom for many years with no issue or complaint and if there was any problem it was dealt with swiftly and efficiently with a fairly good out of hours service. Sincle Ripplecom have taken over, things have gone downhill. A lot more down time and when you do have to contact then, on many seperate occasions with no connectivity because of whatever reason (their fault) I have never ever been so frustrated by their lask of respect for you as a customer, lack of efficiency, dismissive attitide, and lack of urgency in getting the problems sorted. As a business it is crucial to have connectivity and even though yes, sometimes there are outages they should be few and far between and being left for 2 days without Internet in our business is unacceptable. I have found some of the “customer service” to be the worst I have ever experienced and we are gladly parting company with Ripplecom and will pass on my views regarding my experience of this company as a warning to steer clear.

As a customer of Ripplecom i cannot stress enough how happy ive been with their service.I am a very heavy user with multiple pc’s, phones and game consoles so something or someone is always online.I can stream movies and music , play games and skype at the same time.I live in a shared house with no phone line so their wireless service was ideal for me.A steady dependable service has always been the most important factor to me and even at peak times i get a more than reasonable speed. My current package is an 8Mb with unlimited Downloads, no other service provider could offer me the same package nor could some even provide a service at all because of my location. Ripplecom have been brilliant to deal with. Not having to contact them more than once in over a year is a sure sign of their steady and dependable service In over a year i have had to call them only once.A serviceman called me and had me back on line as quick as you like. And that was down to my equiptment not theirs. 10 out of 10

Really poor customer service and support. Had no internet on June 29 2012. They have no weekend service so just left a message and left things to Monday. No call back so called again. Was told someone would call me back to arrange a site visit for that week. Missed that call as I am also working. When I called back was told I missed the opportunity for someone to. Come out that week and it would be Monday 9th. I was shocked by this and when I said it was ridiculous to wait that long I was told “It’s not really” – no empathy, no attempt as service recovery or sense of urgency. In the end accepted the Monday slot. Was told the service person would call me Monday. Also lodged a request that my account be creditded as I would be over a week without service. Was told a note would be taken and passed on to a manager; none were around at that time. Monday 9th came and went, no phone call. Left to see if any contact Tuesday but there was none. Made contact on Wed and was told it would be following week again and someone would come on Monday (16th). Wasn’t. Happy with that considering the last experience with someone due to see me on Mon 9th. Eventually someone came on Fri 13th. 2 weeks without service and still nothing on my account being credited. It is now July 29 and – have still heard nothing and now again my internet service has been giving no connectio since yesterday (ironically in both cases the outages occuring round the dates my account is debited by Ripplecom). Left a messgae on both these issues and will have to wait and see if their service has improved in terms of the contacting me and getting both issues solved in the next few days.

I am cancelling the direct debit on this crap on Monday morning. Have had enough of this rubbish. A couple of months ago this service was for 5mb and it was 37.99 pm. They made an offer of 8mb for 39.99 which wasn’t bad. The problem is that since paying the extra for the 8mb, the best i have ever got is 2mb at best. It is even worse now as they have increased their price to 44.99 and capped at 70 gb per month but have not improved the service. They are basically charging more and giving less. You can contact them but it takes flippin ages, sometimes up to a week to reply. They mess around with your settings, your internet gets fast for a couple of hours and BANG, this shit goes back to the crappy way it was before. I don’t even bother using it any more. NO, NO, NO. Strongly don’t recommend it. Very bad service. Intrn. speed is very slow. I pay for “up to 8 Mb”, but the highest that I get is 3 for 1 hour, then it drops again. The engineers installed old equipment and after a few months it stopped working. Ripplecom promised to send engineers within 2-3 working days, they came only after 8 days. This company wanted to charge me for the engineers fixing their faults. I tried to upgrade down to 2mb for less money and after a few days I received an answer that the internet will be limited. It’s better not to have any internet at all than have ripplecom.

I joined ripplecom four or five months ago because where I am I can’t avail of any other broadband provider. So far I’ve been really happy with the service. Anytime I’ve phoned or e-mailed with queries (not complaints I might add) I’ve always received a reply and the staff were very efficient and polite. Looking at all these reviews now it sounds like I’m dealing with a different company as I’ve had a completely different experience which I hope continues.

Without a doubt the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Customer service is appalling. Broadband service is extremely unreliable. Can be down for days on end. When it is working it is useless for online gaming. How they can justify a price increase when their service is getting progressively worse is beyond me. Avoid this provider at all costs.

Review by Ann, April 12, 2012

Had to use Ripplecom for several years, as where we live could not get anything else. Constantly down, spent hours waiting to speak to Customer service, whenever there were problems you could be guaranteed not to get anyone to answer.
Blamed my router at one stage, bought a new one, still a problem. The only thing that ever worked properly was the billing, money debited from account every month on time.
Engineers were terrible and did not care whenever they came out, would have to check that they fixed the problem, often not working again after they left
Often down for days on end, and if went down on Friday, you could be guaranteed would be Monday or Tuesday before they even start looking at problem
Really frustrating
Worse thing was they decided to decommission broadband in our area, got a months notice by letter and was left high and dry !!!

Have had Ripplecom for 2 years now, I have the voice and 8Mb broadband service. I dont understand the negative reviews – this service is fantastic. We have 10 IP devices – 2 games consoles, 4 smart phones, 2 IPods and 2 PC’s and we use VOIP, game, stream and surf every day. Speedtest is always 4-5Mb and reguarly goes over 7.5Mb (havent seen 8Mb yet but have had 7.9 on a number of occasions). I have had 1 outage in 2 years.
In our estate you can get Eircom next gen and Digiweb wireless as well as Ripplecom. My kids say they are the envy of their friends because of the advantage they get in gaming!! I have to wonder about the reviews on this site, my friend works for a wireless ISP in Galway and he tells me that lots of the reviews placed on boards.ie are placed by well known Wireless ISP operators who are just trying to knock the competition. I have to question the reviews on this page – sounds like the same thing to me

Ripplecom used to be good, when they were Omnitel. Very relieable, fast speeds. Now that they are Ripplecomm: frequent outages, high contention, lots of packet loss, often usable for gaming, unable to stream HD, barely able to stream SD on Netflix or Sky, it can buffer every 10 minutes. Supposed to be 8 down 1 up, can often be 0.5 and 0.05 m Uload, which is ususable.

You can email them and email them and email them and never receive a response. You can spend half an hour ringing them and then they will cut you off, again and again.

When they do fix a problem it will only be a temporary fix and you will have no broadband again.

Prices have just gone up, downloads are now capped. Ripplecom are going backwards and rapidly downhill. Downloads haven’t increased in the four years I have been with them, so much for progress.

Avoid them like the plague and make lots of use of your bargepole!!

Review by Bud, February 26, 2012

Trying to make this review as fair as possible. Had been a rather satisified customer back in the Amocom days with having only 2 service issues within the past 5 years. These were dealt with in a good efficient manner by a bloke called Jeremy and his side-kick Dave. These guys were professional, knowledgable and extremely helpful, as was the girl (Máire) their receptionist. I had been getting my full 2M allowance and never had any billing issues. Amocom was one of those companies that you could almost forget who your ISP was as it was rock solid. I mean like, 2 temperory break downs in 5 years. All this changed though when they merged with Rip Off Com. Big mistake Amocom! Our local, friendly & helpful ISP had disappeared and were not coming back. Kinda like been evicted from heaven and deported to hell. Ripplecom have had more monthly breakdowns than what Amocom had in 5 years. My so called 2M speeds were supposed to be increased but got slower if anything. The 90% reliablity had dropped to 9% as my connection would drop every night for a few minutes. Oh, and yes, they regularly fecked up my billing and even took more on 2 occasions. They even cut me off, disconnected my broadband, without even informing me. I thought it was just another breakdown for the first few days. And to top all this off, just got a letter saying they were now capping their download allowance to a measly 20GB pm.

Time to move on and forget all about Rip off com.

Was instantly attracted to Nova Networks, them being the best ISP in the country at the moment. They had coverage in my area too and their prices were soooo attractive. They even advertised extremly high speeds. Were these possible?? A quick call to Ann-Marie had me re-assurred and my order was placed.A great sales woman! She even threw in a free router for my needs. She either liked me of felt sorry for me. Within a few days, David had been and I was up and running. This guy went out of his way to please me with the install. Hats off! Did a quick speed test and to my amazement, a full 8M download speed and a generous 8Gb daily allowance. 8 x 30 days = 240Gb compared to Ripplecom’s 20Gb. Come on.

If you , like me, were unhappy with Ripplecom’s service, I could not recommend Nova Networks enough to anyone. Service, quality, reliability and value for money, all from a friendly local business.

Time to move with the times Ripplecom, you got too many big ideas and got too big, too fast and forgot about us little guys.

Hope this review helps someone.

When Ripplecom took over Ice Broadband the service improved within a couple of months to something just about tolerable. Customer support were generally helpful and were willing to spend time to sort out any issue. However, in the last few months they have reverted back to the same low quality service and non existant support as Ice Broadband. Can barely load a google page. Every time I ring customer support I’m waiting forever and eventually have to leave a message. They never return a call. The only time they rang me back was when I pretended to be a new customer looking to sign up. Unfortunately they are the only service provider in my area (Athy) that offer a ‘land line bundle’. To summarize: Extremely poor service and bad customer support.

In our area they carried out upgrade works to back haul links and the service has been stable for a few months now. Also the more complaints that go into Comreg about them the better

EMail Comreg with details of your failed communications attempts with RipOffCom for best course of action!!!

Customer service sucks, the only quick way to get through is ring sales dept (they will answer straight away!) and tell them to put you through to tech support.
When you do get through the tech support guys are either poorly trained or complete idiots.. I’ve had three completely different reasons to why my service was crap in the space of two days, these guys just didn’t have a clue and were just making up stories to try and get me off the line..

Have been with ICE since September 2005 as they were the only option at the time for BB. Initial service was 1MB/1MB. They upgraded their service to 3MB/1MB abou 18 months later. On 2 occasions I have had very serious problems with speeds. It took a mail to the MD to get that sorted on the first occasion and that was after about a month of fruitless calls to their Customer service. The service has deteriorated very badly since mid December and no amount of calls or emails to their Customer Service has improved anything. When the service was working it was fine, but the unreliability has finally cracked me up and the Customer Service is virtually non existant. I am moving to DigiWeb.
I’m sorry to see a business that could provide an alternative (especially in more inaccesible and remote areas) decline simply due to poor service and poorer technical support.

Overall: No idea what’s going on; their speed and service has collapsed and their website gives no information as to what’s happening. I wouldn’t recommend ICE; too expensive and their products do not perform as advertised.

Performance: I have never received the advertised speed. At best, I received speeds of between 0.5 – 1.5Mb. On very rare occasions; 6 times in the first year and 4 times in my second year, speed was close to 3.0Mb for a fortnight. As of a week ago performance has collapsed to 0.3Mb/0.05Mb.

Reliability: I have always been able to connect to the web at any time but it has been let down by the performance.

Customer service: I had no issues with their customer service. In each case, they were quick to respond and my problem would be resolved for a time.

Value: Not worth it. Too expensive in comparison to offerings from other providers. Only worth it if you have no alternative provider… and really really must have broadband.

Consistently poor speeds and ridiculous ping times.

Customer support was non-existent at times with only one technician manning the support lines plus wait times of 45 minutes on hold just so that the technician could tell you there was nothing they could do for you.
On a few occasions voice mail was left on after 6 o’clock meaning there was no technical support AT ALL.

Companies like this shouldn’t be allowed to trade as they are incapable of providing a service, even a mediocre service.

Don’t subscribe to this service unless you like to moan or want to be featured on a consumer TV show.

Ice Broadband’s service is totally unreliable. We live in a rural area so we have no other option. I am constantly phoning their customer service to no avail – that’s when their phone works. When their engineers call out they blame the trees between our radio mast and their mast. Our radio mast is so high already it is ridiculous. I am still waiting for an even higher mast…. Sometimes we get close enough to 3MB download which is great and sometimes we don’t get anywhere near that especially in the evenings. My big problem at the moment is upload speeds. I have just spent 2 hours tonight trying to send an email with a 1.5MB attachment – it’s not going anywhere… Right now my Download Speed is 950kb – should be 3MB, Upload Speed is 70kb – should be 1MB. This is disastrous. DON’T choose Ice Broadband if you have any other choice, which unfortunately I don’t.

The 1st month i had it was good, and that was over a year ago. Now, It’s just TERRIBLE! I’m on a 3MB connection now reading 75kbps! If i could give them a minus rating i would. And for the people who are giving the good reviews are probably foreigners working with the company trying to rape you outta your money. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!

I recently had the misfortune of trying out Ice broadband I signed up for phone and internet just over 49 euro a month. They guy who came out to install my broadband managed to break some wedding gifts by knocking them off a shelf while drilling, he also left the side gate open which I had asked him to close due to the gale force winds which he failed to do and as a reusult it smashed my gate and then to top it off he knocked out my sky which I had to get someone else to fix. They promised a wireless router would follow in next few days that was almost 3 months ago I have already been charged three months in advance for a service which I cannot use unless I sit on the floor with my laptop plugeded into router. I tried to contact Ice 6 times to complain was told they would call me back, in end I had to contact comreg. Their excuse is that they are only chargeing me for broadband at 37 euro but I did not ask for broadband i asked for phone and broadband or nothing I recently tried to connect to Ntl phone, broadband and TV but they could only supply TV in my area so iI was given option to cancel as they could not provide service I asked for which is way it should be, if I walked into a shop and asked for milk and was handed bread and told like it or lump it I’m still chargeing you and trebble the price at that??? I would not recommend ICE to anybody. I am in the information technology sector and will be spreading the word about ICE.

I tried phoning them to cancel and I CANT even get through.
They are thieves, they do not provide a service…. dont touch them with a barge pole. Dial up is better….

Is there any where that they can be reported for this level of disgraceful theivery.

Anyone who works for them must be so embarassed going in in the morning…

I would rate them a ‘-5′ if there was an option. a complete joke, customer service is ignorant and sometimes even rude and arrogant. Speed? – there is no speed
sometimes i have to use dial up to check my emails
AVOID AT ALL COSTS

When it’s good, it’s ok. The package prices are a little on the steep side, but not terrible. Latency is never good, but that’s common with WISPs.

When it’s bad, it’s worse than useless. For about half of my time with them, speeds were sub-dialup, with poor ping times and serious packet loss. Waiting 5 minutes to load a web page was not unusual.

Expect 20 minutes on hold to speak to customer service (when their phone lines actually work), who can’t actually tell you anything – they have a list of set excuses.
They NEVER replied to an email, unless I put ComReg on the CC list.

Finally, their solicitors have threatened to sue me for defamation when I publicly complained about the level of service.

Avoid at all costs.

Better than Eircom/Irish broadband?? I think not. In October, my fastest download speed was 1500kps – That was at 2 a.m. In November – 500Kps again around the same time. In December I never got a download speed of greater than 100Kps for the entire month! That was a 3Mb connection by the way Complaining to ICE, will just get you the speil that they are aware of the problem and are planning to fix it next month – This is stated every month. Also their contention ratio is way too high 36:1 is a joke, as that only guarantees dial-up modem speeds. Everyone in the town is waiting for the exchange to be upgraded so we can have alternative providers. As soon as it is Ice will lose the majority of its business. We had landline broadband when we lived nearer Limerick and we never had these sort of speeds.

Even if i had problems with the connectivity provided from ICE broadband , no one can negate they are better than Eircom and Irish Broadband. Maybe just second to NTL. I had to leave ICE because now i am leaving in Dublin city center and they are not providing service in Dublin city … WHY?

Poor service completely undependable, speed varies drastically, customer services don’t seem to have a clue about whats going on and assume that everyone else is as much in the dark as they are.

I have had nothing but trouble with Ice since the beginning. We are in a rural area with lousy signal for the mobile providers, so this is our only option. The VOIP is completely unreliable and has yet to date to pass a speed test. I have NEVER in over a year of service received the upload or download speeds promised.

Customer service is a complete joke. I ring every week and ask for a manager and every week I am promised a ring back. This has been going on for months, no one ever rings.

In terms of reliability it tends to go down every Sunday night, usually for an hour or two, but sometimes for a day or two or even more. There are never any credits offered for the downtime and the customer service reps have absolutely no empowerment and can’t help in any way. As stated above, management never rings back.

Ice Broadband is an absolute disgrace and a joke. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. In case it sounds like I’m a complete moaner, I suggest you look at the Boards.ie thread to see that I am one of hundreds experiencing these problems.
