Had to use Ripplecom for several years, as where we live could not get anything else. Constantly down, spent hours waiting to speak to Customer service, whenever there were problems you could be guaranteed not to get anyone to answer.
Blamed my router at one stage, bought a new one, still a problem. The only thing that ever worked properly was the billing, money debited from account every month on time.
Engineers were terrible and did not care whenever they came out, would have to check that they fixed the problem, often not working again after they left
Often down for days on end, and if went down on Friday, you could be guaranteed would be Monday or Tuesday before they even start looking at problem
Really frustrating
Worse thing was they decided to decommission broadband in our area, got a months notice by letter and was left high and dry !!!

Have had Ripplecom for 2 years now, I have the voice and 8Mb broadband service. I dont understand the negative reviews - this service is fantastic. We have 10 IP devices - 2 games consoles, 4 smart phones, 2 IPods and 2 PC's and we use VOIP, game, stream and surf every day. Speedtest is always 4-5Mb and reguarly goes over 7.5Mb (havent seen 8Mb yet but have had 7.9 on a number of occasions). I have had 1 outage in 2 years.
In our estate you can get Eircom next gen and Digiweb wireless as well as Ripplecom. My kids say they are the envy of their friends because of the advantage they get in gaming!! I have to wonder about the reviews on this site, my friend works for a wireless ISP in Galway and he tells me that lots of the reviews placed on boards.ie are placed by well known Wireless ISP operators who are just trying to knock the competition. I have to question the reviews on this page - sounds like the same thing to me

You can not get an answer from their call centre. Only give a complaint number under duress. Non technical staff are rude, unhelpfull and useless.

Actual connection is rubbish. intermittant and unreliable. if it was a cheap service I might understand this.

How can comreg stand by and let this company continue to have a licence. How can the minsiter of communications stand back and let these idiots rip us off in this manner.

No stars, because they dont desrve any

Ripplecom used to be good, when they were Omnitel. Very relieable, fast speeds. Now that they are Ripplecomm: frequent outages, high contention, lots of packet loss, often usable for gaming, unable to stream HD, barely able to stream SD on Netflix or Sky, it can buffer every 10 minutes. Supposed to be 8 down 1 up, can often be 0.5 and 0.05 m Uload, which is ususable.

You can email them and email them and email them and never receive a response. You can spend half an hour ringing them and then they will cut you off, again and again.

When they do fix a problem it will only be a temporary fix and you will have no broadband again.

Prices have just gone up, downloads are now capped. Ripplecom are going backwards and rapidly downhill. Downloads haven't increased in the four years I have been with them, so much for progress.

Avoid them like the plague and make lots of use of your bargepole!!

Trying to make this review as fair as possible. Had been a rather satisified customer back in the Amocom days with having only 2 service issues within the past 5 years. These were dealt with in a good efficient manner by a bloke called Jeremy and his side-kick Dave. These guys were professional, knowledgable and extremely helpful, as was the girl (Máire) their receptionist. I had been getting my full 2M allowance and never had any billing issues. Amocom was one of those companies that you could almost forget who your ISP was as it was rock solid. I mean like, 2 temperory break downs in 5 years. All this changed though when they merged with Rip Off Com. Big mistake Amocom! Our local, friendly & helpful ISP had disappeared and were not coming back. Kinda like been evicted from heaven and deported to hell. Ripplecom have had more monthly breakdowns than what Amocom had in 5 years. My so called 2M speeds were supposed to be increased but got slower if anything. The 90% reliablity had dropped to 9% as my connection would drop every night for a few minutes. Oh, and yes, they regularly fecked up my billing and even took more on 2 occasions. They even cut me off, disconnected my broadband, without even informing me. I thought it was just another breakdown for the first few days. And to top all this off, just got a letter saying they were now capping their download allowance to a measly 20GB pm.

Time to move on and forget all about Rip off com.

Was instantly attracted to Nova Networks, them being the best ISP in the country at the moment. They had coverage in my area too and their prices were soooo attractive. They even advertised extremly high speeds. Were these possible?? A quick call to Ann-Marie had me re-assurred and my order was placed.A great sales woman! She even threw in a free router for my needs. She either liked me of felt sorry for me. Within a few days, David had been and I was up and running. This guy went out of his way to please me with the install. Hats off! Did a quick speed test and to my amazement, a full 8M download speed and a generous 8Gb daily allowance. 8 x 30 days = 240Gb compared to Ripplecom's 20Gb. Come on.

If you , like me, were unhappy with Ripplecom's service, I could not recommend Nova Networks enough to anyone. Service, quality, reliability and value for money, all from a friendly local business.

Time to move with the times Ripplecom, you got too many big ideas and got too big, too fast and forgot about us little guys.

Hope this review helps someone.

Ripplecom are a joke - just been informed they are increasing the prices by 25% and capping usage to a measly 20Gb per month - and charging a whopping €1 for every 1Gb after you exceed 20Gb. Stay clear of them! Crap service and now very expensive!!! If I could leave a no star rating I would!

When Ripplecom took over Ice Broadband the service improved within a couple of months to something just about tolerable. Customer support were generally helpful and were willing to spend time to sort out any issue. However, in the last few months they have reverted back to the same low quality service and non existant support as Ice Broadband. Can barely load a google page. Every time I ring customer support I'm waiting forever and eventually have to leave a message. They never return a call. The only time they rang me back was when I pretended to be a new customer looking to sign up. Unfortunately they are the only service provider in my area (Athy) that offer a 'land line bundle'. To summarize: Extremely poor service and bad customer support.
