Imagine

As well as touting Wimax, Imagine’s big selling point is that they can cut your Eircom bill in half. http://www.imagine.ie/

Please please don’t use imagine all they are concerned with is money and will ***** you over if given the chance . All customer service is concerned with is also money and quoting terms and conditions and wanting information that is none of my business let alone theirs so for your own piece of mind use a different internet service. Wish I could leave no stars at all it would b more suited for a scamming company

In short, I would not recommend Imagine at the moment.
Modem has issues that are being resolved. Speed is unpredictable and unreliable. Customer Support are inexperienced and unhelpful. Installation was clean and tidy. Tech support are helpful.

More details on above comment…

They have known issues with the modem they provided and are sourcing new modems that will, hopefully, address the issue. The issue is it drops the internet connection and all WiFi & LAN connections when it “over-heats” – ISP’s explanation not mine.

Speed of connection jumps around widely, I’ve seen it go from 30M to 6M to 18M.
Speeds are up-to 70M but on installation we were told we’d never get more than 40M.

Installation took longer than the 10-14 days to install. I rang to ask what the consequences of not installing on time were and the Customer Services guy started arguing, misquoting and no answering my simple question with a simple answer.
In the end I simply accepted there were no consequences to not meeting the installation time period and got off the phone as he continued to wind me up without answering my question. A very disappointing customer service experience and would be willing to leave Imagine instead of talking to CS again.

I do not have access to the modem config, so I can not control the level of security on the device. This worries me as I cannot control my network security.

Installation was quick and tidy. Cables were kept as discrete as possible.

Tech support are quick to answer the phone, answer any questions I have and will tweek the modem config if needed or requested.

I was promised the world by George with the Imagine sales team. Now that my internet speeds drop from 14 to 1 mbps, and after 3 weeks of calling to ask the technical team to fix my problem, I am still where I started when I first called looking for help. Asking to speak with a supervisor is worthless as they are either “in a meeting,” “in training,” or “extremely busy.” I have wasted many hours on the phone only to be told the “advanced team says your problem doesn’t warrant us to look at.” AND, don’t bother writing a letter; you will be ignored by that means of communication as well.

UPDATE: I found out that this internet has been around for 6,7 or 8 years AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE STILL. HOW SLOW COULD YOU BE. Nearly a decade and nothing has been done to improve this internet. Im giving this internet til New Years to not keep cutting out if it does it ONCE everyday til New Years im getting rid of it cos im not keeping internet that has constant dropouts its not worth a *****. Only good thing about it is their customer support who have always been so kind and helpful and getting us up to normal speeds every time we call them but they could do better but im not complaining once the speed goes up to and STAYS above 10mbps

We got this internet just over a month now and ill admit it, it was really good at the start but about 2 weeks ago it has been absolute garbage. Every single day in the evening no matter how many people in my house is on the internet it goes down to 0.01mbps or it completely cuts out. I just did a speed test which started at 15mbps and has now dropped down to 1.75mbps. SERIOUSLY. I am embarrased to have this “internet”. EIR was better than this and i couldnt get a higher speed than 5mbps with it. I hope this internet gets better or itll be gone quicker than you can blink

Appalling customer service. Avoid.

My first nasty experience was in 2010 when my Imagine Ripwave service was cut off with no notice and I got a phone call persuading me to upgrade to Wimax. It seemed a reasonable deal so I agreed. But I did not agree that they could continue to direct-debit me for the cut-off Ripwave service. I only noticed the double charging after 2 months and demanded a refund but they gave me the run-around for months trying to pull the wool over my eyes at every opportunity until they eventually relented.

Now after 6 years I’m trying to escape from their Wimax service and they are giving me the run-around again, ignoring the notice I gave and sending me threatening messages about outrageous “termination fees”, legal action, piling on the monthly charges, and now their latest tactic is a sweet-talking girlie wanting “confirmation” (which I have already given several times).

absolutely useless. I live 2 miles from Kilkenny and the fastest speed I can get from Imagine LTE is usually less than 10 megs. Right now, 2.5.

Tech guys are pleasant, but have very little knowledge beyond “plug it out and plug it in again.”

It’s typical of the second-rate junk we have to endure in this country. The router is constantly crashing. Looks like it’s made out of the cheapest rubbish. Will not reach all areas of my house.

Stay away from these people. Everything about their company is hopeless. I feel sorry for the poor duds who have to answer the phones because all they can do is apologise.

*** Avoid by all means ***

This is not the service what they are claiming to be. If you are prepared to do a troubleshooting, such as calling tech support on 1890 number (you are paying for the call which could be 30-40 mins, sometimes more). The speed varies all the time, connection dropouts are regular. Forget about streaming in peak times, or in fact during the day. Imagine broadband is good after 1 am until approx 8 am in the morning.

Being the tech support person in the past I would not recommend wireless broadband such as Imagine, Clearwire, Breeze, etc. unless you’ve no choice. Streaming is awful, you cannot relay on it. If you are sharing the house with others than that would be even a bigger challenge as 1 person watching Youtube would abrupt the connection for others.

Imagine is only suitable for browsing, sending email and office, but streaming, Youtube, Netflix, forget about it. You should also be prepared to some regular speed drops and occasional downtime due to wireless technology is not reliable itself, regardless who is your provider.

I am paying for 10 Mb, but in all fairness I rarely get 7/8 Mb, maybe night time, usually its 2/3 Mb, often connection drops, Motorola modem goes into scanning mode and you have to prey and hope it will come back soon…. Sad indeed…. Even more sad when that happens outside business times as you cannot even ring tech support, but ringing tech support is a challenge itself, they will ask you to unplug the modem several times, then say something along the lines that there was power outbreak in your area, unplug/replug the modem and wait for the signal (good luck with that !!!). I don’t even blame the poor guys who have to deal with this pile of crap called wireless next generation 4G broadband. They should have tested it out at least before rolling it our across the country.

The happy guy with the guitar singing “Wimax across the nation, Wimax next generation” probably regrets everything he said by now and regrets he was featuring in this pile of lies….

Oh yeah, another thing, if you miss a payment, say by few days, they charge you extra €10 for it (what a ripp off). I wish I was able to charge them for all the downtime I had while waiting for the signal, troubleshooting, waiting for new modems, 1 arrived DOA (dead on arrival).

ADVISE is simple, stay away, don’t try to save few euros when comparing to UPC/Eircom, etc., as you will spend more in phone calls to tech support, never mind your sanity as a result of dealing with them….

It’s one of the most challenging experiences I had so far dealing with ISP’s…

As a tech I can say, any line broadband, such as Eircom, UPC is by far better, stable and reliable than wireless crap, especially with the weather we get.

* STAY AWAY FROM IMAGINE *

*** AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE ***

I pay 40 a month for 2 Mb up and 2 Mb down.
I don’t even get that speed most of the time.

Horrible speed – Only buy if you are willing to browse nothing but text websites.

I was a Clearwire customer who got stuck with Imagine when they bought out Clearwire some years ago. At first I wasn’t too concerned – after all the TV ad showed a fairly mellow looking guy on a stool. He seemed like the kind of bloke who had good internet, right?

Wrong. He probably started playing the guitar to combat his anxiety symptoms.

The first thing I noticed about Imagine was that the internet wasn’t as good. But, being a fairly mellow guy myself, I kinda shrugged it off. I never even tried to use the phone – deep down I kinda sorta knew that it wouldn’t end well. So, I trudged along with Imagine and at the back of my mind kept meaning to change ISP.

This went on for about a year (I think) until one day, when checking my bank statement, I noticed that Imagine were still taking money out of my account every month for the Clearwire subscription and also a seperate amount for the Imagine “service.”

I wonder was this something they did to all former Clearwire customers? I don’t know if it was – just asking the question.

Anyway, I called their customer service and relayed my problem. They were not particularly apologetic. Additionally they:

REFUSED to give me a break-down of the money they had taken from me in this way;

REFUSED to give me a total of the money they had taken this way;

REFUSED to send me a refund cheque; and,

REFUSED to refund me the money quickly.

Instead they transferred an amount to my account some weeks later – no breakdown, no letter, no nothing.

In my view they are not suitable people to be allowed to participate in the Direct Debit scheme operated by the banks.

In my view they are not a decent, customer focused business.

In my view they should not be allowed to operate in the state.

Never-ever in your life do such a mistake like sign a contract with Imagine (wimax).
Becouse in 2015 there will be no such thing like wimax conection and becouse they are lyars:
Up to 8 mbs-maybe once in month for half an hour and they own speed test shows twice faster speed than independant speed test sites. You would be happy to have 2-3 mbs average.
Unlimited download-bulshit !!! For residential customer 40 GB is a LIMIT
So when you use your 40 GB they will swich you off for 7 days and will leave you with only 0,03 mbs !!! And you will pay for those 7 days as for a good speed !!!
And about free phone calls in Ireland- bulshit (again) I had payd even when I was caaling to customer service by they own landlines…
They have motto “cheapper then eircom” it comes on avery statement and its a lye.
So dont be stupid like me,dont go to Imagine !!!!
