I contacted WiMax on 1st May 2012 and made a broadband reservation. To make the reservation I had to provide a phone number, an email address and a postal address. I received an email from WiMax thanking me for my reservation and informing me they would contact me with an install date. I called three days later to get an install date and was told it would take up to ten days to hear from them. On day 8 (9th May), I called again and was told "It *will* take up to ten days, please stop contacting us, we will contact you". On 11th May (day 10) I called WiMax again, and was told that they didn't know why I hadn't yet been contacted. I was told I would be called back. On Wednesday 16th May I still hadn't heard from them, so I called them. I was told that no reservation had been made by several members of the sales team. I asked to make another reservation and asked if it could be rushed through as I had been waiting for 16 days at this stage. I gave them my details again. That afternoon, they called a telephone number which I had asked not to be contacted at, and told me "We have no reservation for you. We will have to make a new reservation". I informed them that I had already made a second reservation but if necessary I would make a third reservation. I started to provide them with my details for the third time (not including all the times I called with an enquiry regarding my previous reservation). As I started to provide my postal address, I was told they could not provide broadband in my area. I had wasted a total of 17 days contacting the company repeatedly trying to make a reservation. That was their SALES team, where I was trying to give them money! If their sales team is that incompetent, I can only (fearfully) imagine what their customer service is like. I would advise to stay well away from Irish Broadband / WiMax / Imagine (they are all the same company).

I was with imagine for over 3 years and when i had enough of their absolute dreadful customer services i decided to change provider to puretelecom, firstly on the day of the changeover imagine wouldn't release the broadband to puretelecom who fair play done their best and managed to get it released same day and two weeks later knowing no bills are due went to my bank to find imagine had emptied it of 100e cancellation fee it put my account into red i rang imagine told them it was still pending and to cancel the request, they tried to say because i moved house less than 12 months before even though i had a house changeover i had new contract i told them i was going to report them to comreg they then admitted they made a mistake but they refused to cancel the direct debit request and said they will credit it back to me when they get it, i rang this morning coz still no money and they asked my today did i want my money back, the guy had to hang up the phone when i gave my answer lets just say i think he heard words he never heard before.

It's a disaster. Good that I found this website in time. I'm a new customer, still have one days left to cancel without cancellation fee.
Stay away lads. They are just trying to make me stay with them, saying some crap that everything will be resolved in 3 working days.
I ordered 3 mb package. Since day 1 speed is ok, or even better (according to their speedtest facility) but connection is terrible. Sending signal from my phone on Three.ie gives me faster connection than my in house router with outside aerial.
Netflix, Youtube, RTE player - they all are working very slow.
Online gaming - forget it. I tried to play COD and I couldn't. Every 30 minutes I'm out the server... BF - not a hope...
Another classisc rip off...

Update !!

Cancelled my contract /install to be on the safe side .
Did not want to have to deal with a below par broadband provider.
Thanks to all to those unlucky customers for posting their misfortunes ,
hope your contracts end soon or else ye bite the bullet and pay cancel fees.
I will stick with Eircom NGB 24 MB ( best I've got is 13MB average is 10MB )for now and change over to Nova Network(Cork/ Carrigaline ) soon - was with them before and their not bad for the money 8MB for E45.

* As for Wimax there was no problem cancelling with them - but will keep close on my bank account .

They are a joke signal does not carry throughout the house. Speed is about equal to dial up connection. Im with them over one year and will be leaving as soon as i can get another decent provider

I have same story as "Review by Brian, December 6, 2011" when 200Gb a month downloaded data caused speed to be reduced to 300kbps. They also added me to some special heavy users list and will be monitoring closely. I talked to 20min to dumb Indian guy who could tell at all what "fair usage" is so i have no clue how far i can push next month... Can i open 5 pages at same time or it will crash all network? 200gb month is very far fair usage unless Imagine network has sensitive hardware and limitations at data center end. Bad provided, looking for a change.

I have been using Imagine WiMax for 9 months on their 7Mb package. In that time I have often got over 7Mb — often 10Mb download speed which I am very happy with. The ping is not fantastic at around 100ms but it has not caused me any issues. I have had only two problems since having it installed and in both cases Customer Service had it fixed in no time. I watch a fair bit of TV streamed from the net and I have never had a download warning.

Most reviews of this service rates it as very poor — my experience has been very different and so far I am happy with the service provided.
