There should be a NO stars rating for this crowd, the fastest speed i've ever got is 4mbps, which would be understandable if I lived on a mountain in Alaska, I happen to live in Dublin about 4 mile from the city centre! when i rang the technical team, after about an hour of moving the box around the house i was told 4meg was all my line was capable of! I cancelled my contract and thought that the problems with this useless shower were nearing an end but how wrong I was!!! I've received another invoice even though i've paid up until the end of my contract. In short DO NOT GET MAGNET BROADBAND!! even if they can offer you fast broadband if there is a problem with it that requires an engineer to fix i.e a problem with the outside line running to your house, they accept no responsibility for it and suggest you hire an electrician to fix it!! madness.

Woohooo I've just cancelled my contract with Magnet and I cant even begin to describe how good it feels.
Every dealing I have ever had with Magnet (including the recent cancellation) has been nothing short of painful, stressfull & a complete waste of my time. So from today - no more rude customer service reps, no more lack of accountability, no more waiting on promised call backs that NEVER come. Magnet - you have pushed another customer too far, you dont deserve a customer base. So long and may our paths never cross again!!

In my own personal experience there was never too many problems with Magnet's broadband service (24mb) - so it sounds like a good start right? But I had a package that included broadband, tv and telephone. Magnet Entertainment customer service is terrible and the problems I encountered were mainly with the TV/telephone end of things. Unfortunately for me Magnet hid behind the good broadband and I never recieved any real customer service. The broadban in general did not really let me down, but that does not excuse the treatment I got from Magnet and their staff. Truly terrible. They need to take a look at themselves..........it's borderline criminal. Never calling back. Issuing bills, not resolving issues......the list goes on. One thing they are good at is invoicing and rudeness! In the end, I cancelled Magnet service altogether and I am now being pursued by a debt collector even before any "final bills" have been issued. So, the debt collector is contacting me and more bills keep arriving?? Makes sense right? I even had a bill issued to me in what seems to be an error but this has thankfully been removed from my account outstanding. I intend to fight this of course but dealing with Magnet is painful. Now I also owe them for return of equipoment. Do yourself a favour, avoid Magnet if you can it may start off well but it will surely decend into farce! And tell your family and friends too....AVOID

I wish I saw this page before....

I've signed up for Magnet 24Mb Simply Broadband on the 2nd of February. Since then it's nothing but false promisses and shifting responsibility to Eircom.

Aparently any techinical issues have to be solved by Eircom, (which, frankly, I don't care about, I have a contract with Magnet, not Eircom). They have a service turnaround time of one week, so if one thing is resolved, but the issue is still existing, it can take another week before the look into this again.

Right now, I am going to consult legal help to get money back for the costs that I made because of not having internet at home and to cancel the contract. They haven't delivered anything (apart from the modem, that arrived within a few days) so far.

Again, the issue aparently lies within their contract with Eircom, but that is their problem, which they try to make mine. Which isn't going to work for me.

First off I'm a business customer in Cork. I switched from the big "E" to Magnet 4 or 5 years ago as the service from the big "E" kept dropping sync about 4 or 5 times a day and was utterly useless.
Initially the service from Magnet was excellent, I was actually getting my 10Mb/768Kb speed with no drop-out at all, however since the end of November 2011 the service has dropped off completely.
Now my speed barely reaches 4Mb/256Kb on a good day and I have no end slow loading or of "site not found" time-outs, even though my router is syncing the DSL.

Now anyone with half a brain cell would say that there's definitely an issue in the area, especially as I am not alone and a number of other businesses in the area are also having the same issues, even though they are not Magnet customers, but all I get from Magnet support staff is that the line is syncing and is up and running so there can't be an issue.

I have never written such a poor review of any company but here it is, my first. Stay away from the DSL service and beware of false advertising. The Simply Broadband that is advertised on their site is not €40as stated, they wanted to charge me €50. I should have known at that point not to go for the service but I went ahead and ordered it anyway. However, after three weeks of waiting, I decided to cancel and find something else. What a nightmare! The customer service rep was rude and argumentative and after I asked to speak to a manager and someone finally called me backed, he argued with me and insisted that my service was working, which it wasn't. It took at least ten minutes to get him to say that he would cancel the service. But the next day I got texts and emails telling me that my service was active. I think they are trying to get money from me for nothing. I still don't have service. Another note, what is the €50 activation fee? If it works properly, it is just a matter of plugging in the wires. Stay away, it's not worth the hassle.

Slow. Drops connections. Packet loss. Terrible customer service.
Their only saving grace is their tech support, although I have never had to use them for more than simple matters.
