Absolute nightmare to deal with. I checked the coverage checker and it said I would get 4G at my location. I ordered a Meteor USB dongle and SIM card. I only received 2G signal, no 3G and 4G, and my modem could never connect via 2G. I cancelled the contract within 3 days. Their contract says you have a 14 day cooling period. Do not believe this. Once you have signed up, they will take your money, whether the service works or not, and you will never see a refund. Because I cancelled the contract and sent the dongle back immediately, I should never have been charged, but Meteor kept debiting the monthly fee from my account as though I had carried through with my contract. I requested a refund and all I got was a massive run around, the customer service is like talking to a dumb AI robot which never understands anything you say (or pretends not to). All I can say is stay as far away from these people as you possibly can.

After having use Vodafone’s mobile broadband successfully for 2 and a half years now, decided to try out Meteor (even though I’ve been thru HELL with their parent company Eircom/”Eir” a fwe years ago).

I need extra allowance as I work in software engineering, and often have to download tools/software (including from Microsoft), to help with my work.

Having come from the U.K and London, and having been with B.T Broadband(AMAZING speeds , even in rural Kilkeel, Co Down, Maguires Bridge, Co Fermanagh etc)), NTL(in the late 90s), and lately Vodafone here in Ireland, where internet access via landline (fixed line ) is unlimited in most cases, these mobile broadband packages(with ALL service providers) are useless to me – generally, but I’ve learnt to live with it, as I love the Irish country side and Peace. :-) )

So, I purchased a 20 Euro top-up and obtained a 7.5 GB mobile BB package/top-up. Since Meteor offer an extra FREE 7.5GB , I applied for that, and fair enough, 3 days later, they added that extra 7.5 GB to my account. So, now I aev 15 GB to be used in 30 days- in theory.

But wait! NOT So! They are now telling me that I’m getting near my “fair usage allowance”- and I’ve onyl used 3.8 GB in 11 days, since the original top up!

Meteor being a subsidiary of completely useless and RUDE (on the phone) Eircom(who still only provide 4 Mbps downstream here in Glenties, Donegal), are completely and utterly USELESS to anyone other than folks who rarely use computers.

the customer service (what customer service, i hear many of you say.. !? Exactly! i rest my case)- is USELESS on their “live” portal.

The Fair usge LEGAL jargon makes me – as a customer- feel like I’m being given the 3rd degree, for some hellish crime I haev committed(before I’ve even committed it)!!! VERY VERY neolithic and restrictive use of the English language (ciomapred to other mobile broadband providers).

1/10 marks for Meteor Mobile broadband (and their parent company, since I don’t intend to spend any more of my time , money nor energy, reviewing these two companies)
.

STAY AWAY from Meteor folks. go with the biggest and trusted provider for mobile BB, in Ireland(or the new ones from the U.K and N.I)

I don’t think meteor provides any staff training, their customer service is the worst I’ve ever come across. I’ve been a meteor customer for 10 years and only recently purchased the broadband. I had issues and requested a supervisor call me back in February, it’s now April and no call. I had to get ComReg and the ASAI involved to even get a response from meteor. This issue is ongoing and I have had customer service representatives hang up the phone on me. I have even been blocked from their Facebook page. Avoid this company at all costs, I wouldn’t sign a contract with meteor if they offered me free everything for the duration they are horrible to deal with

Cannot fault the broadband itself however the company admin leaves allot to be desired. One month in and issues with the bill already, tried to take payment twice.
Also dashboard to monitor usage does not work correctly and customer service advised to not use it!! why have it there so.
Also paid bill (gone from my acc) shows as still owing in my meteor account.

Broadband very good even getting 13 plus meg, so excellent for me in that light.
I am afraid to say I’m happy with them though as it wouldn’t surprise me if they close my account saying I haven’t paid.

Can’t get online most of the time with Meteor. Sometimes it initiaties then says, ‘no service’ after a few seconds. I try to write and email then it stops again and I lose the email. It’s so frustrating, it’s like trying to, ‘beat the clock’ hoping to get an email off before it switches itself off again. Tried customer service and boy did nothing then cut me off, tried again and a lady helped and my internet service improved for a few weeks then it’s back to worse than before. Duh! Frustrating and feeling robbed.

I had been with Meteor Phone for quite a long time but I think that Meteor Staff are selling their mobile Broadband under false pretences .
I signed up for Meteor in August 2012 and they said my bill would be around €20 per month with around an allowance of around 20 GB of data per month and it was unlikely I would reach this amount . Upon receiving my 2nd bill it was €380 for the month . I contacted Meteor but all they responded was that I had gone over my limit but they could not explain how . Prior to this , I checked the history of my computer and could not find any excessive downloads . Seeing as this was not satisfactory , as I repeat , had been informed in the shop that my bill would only be around €20 per month .
Has anyone else out there and anything similar happen to them ?

The Sales of Goods Act 1979 implies these two terms into all sales of goods contracts. If goods are not of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose, you have a cause of action to seek redress.

I signed up 5 months ago for the 50GB per month service @ 25euro per month and paid an extra 30euro to get a Huawei e353 usb stick. Service was brilliant up to about 2 weeks ago (first week Oct 2012). Now it has turned to shit. Get strong signal as usual, I’m connected, but no data coming down. Intermittent fault. I phoned customer service last week and this week and on both occasions the operators told me they are upgrading the network and that there were problems. My beef is… why didn’t they contact their money paying customers who keep them in jobs, and let them know about this problem and apologise in advance. I spent two days ******* around with hardware, firmware etc. ******* ********. I’m gonna ask for a manager in the morning and if not satisfied….they just lost a customer..for life.

I just moved from 3 because of the appalling service and the pigeon english from the Indian support staff who very often cannot even speak english “thank you very much please”. I have jumped from the frying pan into the fire ! This meteor outfit are so bad that I have not been able to access my emails, get a page to stay on the screen long enough to read it and as for their support – it is the worst I have ever experienced. The cost of my calls to activate my top up over the last two months, because their web site, that a support member verified, did not allow me to activate my top up, has been double the cost of the €20 top up. Try finding a no. to ring them on their web site and when you do – the wrong one was posted there for a few weeks – experience the computer generated garbage that is all too familiar to me by now – dial 1 for …… – 2 for etc and please type in your mobile no. This happens at least three times. After that, I have now experienced three people who have literally just dropped the phone without warning leaving me listening to a tune that eventually stops and you realise that your support has disappeared. When you do get somebody, they all sound as if they lack intelligence and they certainly know little about technical issues. The other type is just cynical going through the motions and all will demand the same load of info as the fella that has just passed you on to them. There is no complaints procedure available, there is no back up service, there is no signal most of the time and these people are allowed to scam monies from the decent people of this country on the pretext that they will provide a mobile broadband service to us. Who has allowed these people to operate in this country and where is the regulation ? I have now had experience of three mobile internet providers and this situation is laughable. But only in Paddy’s country would these shysters get away with a scam like this.

absolute rubbish – in the limerick area there is little or no coverage – cutting in and out regularly and after 10pm you can forget trying to even send an email – very poor response from Meteor.

To slow reception not constant and gets busy to quick . usage allowance is not enough. You tube and sits like that are moving the video to hd and will use up huge data. Mobile networks cant cope, wired networks with a good quality phoneline can.

I wonder how many customers Meteor have? I can’t review it because I have 3 mobile and they told me I would get the kind of service Maw below is getting but maybe when they get a second customer the service will be halved like I got with 3 Mobile. As for stars I have to give them the same as Maw as it would be unfair otherwise. I wonder when he/she says sometimes the BB doesn’t work, how often is this?

Overall satisfied but I need to explain some bad surprises.
Fast in town (where I live) but coverage can be improved in the country side.
Shame when you have a issue you never know when or how the customer service will get back to you.
Sometimes the BB service simply doesn’t work and you are not notified.
