Not sure how long I’ve been with Nova but it’s probably a year or two. So far I am very happy with the quality of service and feel I’m getting value for money. I have very light broadband requirements but even so I have found network congestion to be annoying when I was with other broadband suppliers. With Nova Networks the service seems to be reliable and consistent.
Other pros I have found for using Nova Networks:
1. No land line required.
2. Invoice comes by email – I dislike traditional paper invoices just because these days there is no need.
3. I can pay by paypal – being able to pay electronically without having to use direct debit is a nice option.
Cons (I really struggled to come up with any)
1. When I went to pay the first bill there was a small added charge for using paypal. I wasn’t sure what it was at first so I rang Anne Marie. Paypal charge them for the service so this cost is passed onto the customer. I think it’s fair enough because their rates are very competitve and you don’t have to use Paypal if you don’t want to. It could have saved a phone call though if it said that somewhere on the invoice.
2. I think I had to restart the router once.

i was a customer of Nova network in Cork before I moved away. I found them to be generally reliable and good to use.
Review by John, Rochestown, April 26, 2012
Excellent service, I just connected a month ago. After getting frustrated with the “usual” suppliers I went surfing the web, found Rate my ISP and saw the review here for Novanetworks. I emailed Novanetworks, Anne-Marie contacted me the next day and we arranged the 8MB package including phone, with free calls, for €50 a month. Later that week the engineer Ian came installed the components and I was online with an actual bandwidth that matched what was advertised! We use our Phone, IPad and laptop off the wireless and there is no drop in performance even when using streaming videos such as, YouTube. I can’t recommend these guys enough; professional, excellent and tidy installation, rapid response to any queries and straightforward billing which is easy to access on line.
In conclusion, a great service and for once you get what you pay for!

I’ve been with Nova Networks for 4 years and have found Dave and the team to be excellent. I consistently get my full download and upload speeds running AppleTV, XBox, PS3, iPad, 2 laptops, Spotify, Sonos, the works – all of whose bandwidth demands are capably managed by my Nova connection. If you’re in the Cork area and are in the market for a wireless connection, you should be calling Nova.
Review by Adrian Erangey, April 24, 2012
To all possible future Nova Network broadband customers.
Last month I ordered Nova Networks 8MB broadband service. I had it delivered within a week.
The installers phoned ahead, arrived on time with a clean organised van. ( always a good sign). The installers were very professional and willing to help configure the wi-fi switch too. Nothing was a problem to these guys.
Afterwards i ran the speed test a few times and we were getting faster upload speeds than advertised.
Over the years i have had various ISP’s deliver services mostly full of drama even before the first bill but finally it looks like the Nova boys are the ISP for us. I cant rate them highly enough and calling their support or accounts seems effort less.

Excellent signal quality, fast installation (done on Good Friday, 30 minutes after they contacted me to know when woudl suit me), and overall efficiency. a breath of fresh air.
Review by Roy Deasy, April 24, 2012
I subscribed to nova networks in december 2011. The installation was done fast on christmas week and straight away i had 4mg broadband no messing the upload speed wasnt bad either. The guy who installed it was a nice, helpful and courteous person.
I soon upgraded to 8mg broadband speed. Ann-Marie and Dave and another woman whose name slips me have been extremely helpful and sincere in helping me over the phone.
I am thinking about getting the phone package also for €45 standalone payment and €3 a month extra for 500 minutes. I am going to stay with nova networks and I have no hesitation in referring nova networks to my family and friends.
what you get each month is consistent and fast broadband with excellent care and service.
Review by Michael Galvin, April 12, 2012
I’ve been with Nova for just under a month now, and they are miles ahead in terms of service and dependability than the last shower I was with (naming no names but they’re in 3rd last place for a reason). Very clear site and nice friendly sales staff meant that I was able to make a decision to move very quickly and was up and running within about 3 weeks. The connection has been top notch since then without any of the mysterious disconnects or throttles I used to suffer. I can once again depend on my broadband connection which is very important to me as I work from home a lot.
As for value for money, A-1. I need a 6th star. I’m paying a little more, but getting 3 times the reported speed I was getting on my old provider, which never even came close – Nova are giving me what I’m paying for.

After a couple of frustrating years with another provider we decided on the recommendation of a friend to move to Nova. Installation was quick and painless. Our installer made sure everything was working before he left. The service is a breath of fresh air. Customer service is the bestt I have cone across to date. Any queries, either by phone or email are answered almost instantly. Would definitely recommend.

TOP CLASS SERVICE, INSTALLER JOHN KNEW HIS STUFF AND WAS VERY OBLIGING IN CHECKING OUR EQUIPMENT WAS ALL CONNECTING,, INSTALLED 8MB, SPEED TEST SHOWS VERY CLOSE TO THAT,, REALLY IMPRESSED..
ALSO MUST PRAISE ANN MARIE, FOR ATTENTION, KNOWLEDGE AND COURTESY
Review by Ian Kenefick, March 8, 2012
Installation:
Fast, Tidy, Friendly. John Carroll carried out our installation and he was excellent to deal with. I had a minor issue following the installation and John who was working on another installation in East Cork at the time was back to us within 30 minutes to resolve it. Top Class.
Connection:
I subscribed to the 20Mbps / 1Mbps and I’m getting 19.7Mbps / 0.97Mbps – Nova Networks is the only ISP I’ve ever used where I’m getting what I’m paying for. Ping times (google.com) are very fast @ 14 to 24ms. The quality of the connection far exceeds that offered any of my previous providers which include DSL, Cable and 3G services.
Support:
Ann-Marie and Dave were available to answer any queries I had – and promptly.
I couldn’t rate these guys highly enough and it’s great to be able to support a local service. I would definitely recommend to a friend.

Just recently change to Nova after 3 long years with R……om that don’t provide any service at all. When there was technical issue from them side automatic machine was answering your call and inform You about problem and how long it takes to fix it. Providing internet to big companies You can’t leave them offline for all day, without any further notice. We connected to Nova for 3 months only but we find that Nova is fast and friendly they are unbeatable and great value for money as well.

Can not speak highly enough about Nova networks. The whole process was quick easy and very affordable. We experienced outstanding customer service throughout the whole process from the initial inquiry to the instalation process. Annmarie in the office was extremely helpful and really went out of her way to accomadate our specific needs. The instalation was carried out in an extremely professional manner by Dave who made certain that the job was extremely neat. We now have a broadband service which is fast and reliable and I would not hesitate to reccomend Nova Networks.

Ordered the 8mb package with nova on Monday and had working broadband on the Wednesday! Ann Marie was highly efficient and professional and the installation engineer David did an excellent job. Neat tidy and prompt. I tested the speed once up and running and was getting over 7 mb which is fantastic. So far I am very happy and imagine I will be in the future. Great work guys. Maintain the high standard.

Just rescently went back to Nova after a trip back to Eircom. That was a mistake made trying to save money by consolodating phone and web, and I regretted it very quickly! The service could not compare to Novas hands on approach, fast and friendly they are unbeatable. I am finding it good value for money as well, with my phone now coming from Nova as well.

Review by Sharon - Carrigaline Cork, January 24, 2012
I switched to Nova Networks in December and despite the busy time of year they managed to get the install done and even my phone switched in a short time frame. The install was incredibly professional and the broadband service I now have is not only stable but is always consistently fast and I am really happy with the service.
I am delighted to be supporting a local company and finding a reliable and excellent service. I rely on broadband for my business as I work from home and have not had any issues at all since the switch.
I would highly recommend Nova Networks to anyone looking for a Broadband provider. I also switched my phone over to Nova and have had similar ease of transfer and consistent service since the switch.

I have been with Nove Networks for nearly 2 and a half years and I am delighted to say that they are excellent people to deal with.
It is not when things are going without a hitch that one should judge a supplier of anything but in the event of a fault and in this regard Nova are outstanding. On the rare occsion when lines went down etc they were unfailing in their attention and the speed of fixing the problem could not be faulted.
I would willingly recommend Nova Networks to all and sundry without hesitation.
Review by Jason Miller, January 23, 2012
I have been with Novanetworks since November and have found thier service to be excellent. I get the speed that I am paying for, unlike my previous service providers. Also, I have not suffered any random disconnects which means I can play online games without worrying when my game might drop from the network. I live in the Glanmire area and this is really the only option when it comes to proper broadband speeds, as currently the max speed available through the Eircom network is only 5.5mb.

They sound really good so I might get good service because I live just across from Little Island (eircom are terrible)
Review by Phil, August 25, 2011
I live in Cobh in Co. Cork and working in the IT industry and with a keen personal interest in various Internet Media which regularly involves large sized downloads, my broadband connection has become an essential part of my everyday life. In recent years I’ve seen my 8Mb Vodafone connection drop from somewhat acceptable speeds of around 6Mb down to 1.5Mb during evenings and weekends, which is terrible quality of service for the money I was paying. I was waiting in vain for Next Gen broadband to arrive in the hope that lack of contention would at last see me getting close to the bandwidth I was paying for. However after experiencing my mother’s new 8Mb Next Gen Eircom broadband connection settle in at 4.5Mb in Bishopstown, my dreams were shattered. Sure, the bandwidth stays consistent, but she is paying for 8Mb and getting just over 50%. This whole ‘up to’ argument, really frustrates me. If I sold someone a bottle of water, and told him it had up to 500ml of water in it, and he purchased it and found it to have just over 250ml of water in it, do you think he’d be happy? Of course not, and I’d be out of business as quick as you like for being an complete con man and charlatan.
Anyway, I digress. I became driven to explore all ISP options available to me in Cobh and find one that would provide me with the bandwidth I paid for. I didn’t know whether that would be 2Mb, or 20Mb, whether it would be 20 euro a month or 100, but I had enough of being taken for a fool by my ISP. After an internet search, which I believe passed through this very website, I became aware of Nova Networks, based in Little Island and with coverage in Cobh offering ‘up to’ 7Mb to my residence. I contacted them with a flood of distinct queries, and Ann Marie responded quickly and as helpfully as she could to each one. She even answered the direct query of ‘How much of the ‘up to’ 7Mb am I realistically going to get?’ without giving the usual sales person non commital answer. Instead she informed that while she can never be certain, most customers get close to the full bandwidth, which in my case led me to believe I’d get over 6Mb. I was a little sceptical but decided it was worth the risk and had to be better than the 1.5Mb I was getting from Vodafone. It was the best decision I could have made. Once I was set up, I regularly speedtested as high as 6.7Mb! I didn’t believe a broadband product could deliver as close to the advertised bandwidth as that. I can no longer fathom how the major ISPs can get away with charging people for a bandwidth that the user isn’t getting anywhere near.
As a fantastic subtext to my story, weeks after I installed, Nova upgraded their network and my own product was upgraded from 7Mb to 8Mb at no extra cost, and a range of new higher bandwidth products, up to 20Mb are now available in many areas including my area of Cobh, at really fantastic value. In fact I chose to switch to a 12Mb line, and I’ve literally just been upgraded last night and while I can’t say with certainty what speed I’m getting yet, I’ve seen over 11Mb a few times so I’m optimistic Nova will continue to provide me with the bandwidth I’m paying for.
As nobody believes a completely gushing review these days, I feel it’s only fair to highlight the issues I have had since I switched. Immediately after install, my wifi connection was quite flaky. Sometimes it would be fine and sometimes it would drop and fail to even be visible. Sometimes a router restart would help, other times it would not. This continued for the first few days until Dave suggested I try switch the wifi channel on the router. I hadn’t realised it had been set to channel 1 which I wouldn’t have expected as a default setting, and changing to one of the mid range channels seemed to make a huge difference and for the next couple of weeks I didn’t notice any issue. However in the last week or so, my connection to the wifi has been strong but connection to the Internet has dropped affecting all devices on the network. This usually either sorts itself after a few mins or I can help speed the process up by restarting the router. In my experience, router restarts shouldn’t be required any more than twice a year, so twice a week isn’t ideal. That said, I’ve not given Nova a chance to help me resolve this issue at this time, as I don’t believe I’ve enough information yet to report the problem in detail, so this may yet be something that can be identified and fixed, but I felt it better to be honest with my experience thus far as that’s what this site is about. I’m not here to suck up to Nova Networks, but instead hope that I can help someone the way that this site helped me, and all I can say in that respect is I’m absolutely delighted with the product I’ve been sold, the customer service (and I’ve been quite particular in many of my queries and requests), and value for the money I’m paying. If you are in an area covered by Nova Networks and are considering a switch from your ISP, I couldn’t recommend them any more highly to you at this time.
… cue speed drops to 1Mb and unanswered support emails at the weekend!

Have been with Nova now for almost 4 years I think. They are a fantastic company. they still have the feel of a small local company who are very focused on providing the best service they can give. Living in a rural location they are the only show in town for me having used 1 other company and 3g , both very poor experiences. the other company from a communication and Reliability point of view and 3g speeds were just insufficient to be usable. The main strength nova have are not only the fact you get the advertised speeds but ist the service and response to issues/queries. dave and Anne Marie deal with all queries and issues promptly and efficiently. I have recommended NOVA to many friends and would never hesitate to recommed them to anyone.

Have been with Nova for over 2 years and they’ve been a great service provider. The service was very good to start with and has only gotten better as they’ve continued to add bandwidth capacity which we’ve been happy to take advantage of. Both Dave and Ann-Marie are exceptionally responsive and knowledgeable regarding any service related questions. Nova Networks has my strong recommendation as a service provider and I regularly recommend them to friends in the area.

I have used Nova for nearly two years and in that time have had only one short outage (Nova warned me in advance!)
The installation engineer spent nearly two hours getting a signal and running a cable through a conduit from the outer wall to the house ( under a farmyard) and was patient throughout.
The direct debit notification arrives by email two weeks ahead of the payment date as a reminder.
Nova have been great people to deal with and I have recommended them to two neighbours who appear to be satisfied.
As far as I know they are the only provider in the Ballycotton area to provide such good service–long may they reign!!!!

We’ve been with Nova for a few years now – definitely over 3, possibly around the 4. Really impressed by their quality of service – we both have the option to work from home and we’re avid online gamers, so having a steady reliable service is paramount to us. Nova’s provided consistently good latency, and great uptime over the years – so, so, so much better than our experiences with Chorus or BT!
We’d had a bit of a hiccup with service few months back caused by the storms over winter – we were just unlucky and the equipment casing got damaged by high winds and then water got in.
Once we’d reported it, Dave was quick to get everything sorted out for us. Service has been solid as a rock since then again.

I’ve had 10MB broadband from Nova Networks in Jacobs Island, Mahon since November. We originally had mobile broadband which was a disaster. Since getting it from Nova Networks, everything has been excellent. Service has been impeccable. There has been one outage, I contacted Dave McDonald he told me exactly what was the issue and that it would be resolved quickly. He was true to his word. The quality of the broadband matches their service. It has low ping times, 0% packet loss and its always around the top speed. I for one would recommend Nova Networks.

Dave here from Nova.
Just writing to thank everyone for their kind words. We work very hard to give a better service than the others and it’s nice to know that people appreciate it. There are a lot of shady operators out there, so my advice to people is to shop around and do your homework. As regards Liam’s comment about weather, we install our service with a “link margin” which means weather doesn’t affect it, unless there is something wrong. If it affects yours, Liam, please contact us as we may need to do a service call.
So thanks again, everyone!
Review by Liam, January 19, 2011
I am a new customer. Very happy with service and performance. Only slight niggle is that sometimes performance seems to be slightly effected by weather but over all very happy and not going to change. Would happily recommend.
Review by Thomas McCarthy, January 17, 2011
Been with them a long time now – customer service is first rate, in the unlikely event of a problem you may even get the managing director coming out to check things out, as was my experience. Responses to emails etc. are generally at most 3-4 hours if emailed at a reasonable time, and the speed you are paying for is as advertised. They are certainly more expensive than Eircom and UPC in terms of a direct comparison, but I suppose its a case of you get what you pay for – they have the lowest contention ratio of the bunch as far as I know, you do not need a phone line so no line rental (they now actually provide phone service too which I barely use but then again it only costs me what I use), it will only go down once in a blue moon, and great customer service. Big thumbs up overall.

We are with Nova now for 18 months. Living in Ballycotton, service was less reliable, than we hoped. Now, living just outside Killeagh, reliability is great. The Service is always there, never had a problem in the last 6 months. From Ballycotton I remember, Service was great, someone came to help us, really soon and was always able to fix the problem. So I think, they’re just great. Thank you, Harald Schieber, Killeagh

I am with them for over 2 years now and the service is always excellent, latency is low and the connection is reliable. The very few times I had a problem the customer service reply within hours and in a very competent manner, being an IT myself we can usually jump directly to the problem which they solve as soon as possible without the usual “I am reading a manual and you need to do step 1 2 and 3″ stuff. I am delighted with Nova Networks, hope they keep providing this level of service in the future.

I then switched to Vodafone DSL as it was cheaper, what a disaster, it is the same copper wire but definately not the same service, there was dreadful packet loss. As part of my work involves monitoring a network I need a connection with 0% packet loss as I use a VPN. Dave from Nova assured me he could give me a connection with low ping times and 0% packet loss so I switched back to Nova. Boy was he right the service is spot on, quick and very low latency. I now use internet quite a lot for phone calls and recently got Apple TV, all run very well with the Nova conenction and when I need to I can work from home with a reliable connection. What more can I say?

I’ve only been with Nova for about 2 months, but I have to say I’m impressed. There was problems getting set up to begin with (only because they had so many people signing up that they didn’t have enough equipment!) but the whole time they kept me informed and were even kind enough to offer me a discount because of the delay. The service is fast, good value, and they’re extremely fast to respond to any queries you have. Need to upgrade your line speed? Done in 5 minutes. Want to upgrade your data limit? Mail them and and it’s done within an hour. Great stuff, won’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone living in Cork in the future.

I had Nova networks hooked up to my apartment in Ashbourne Villas, Glounthuane and I found the service excellent. My girlfriend was doing an online course and needed reliable internet access and the price was the lowest out there! Thrilled with the customer service as everything was timed to a tee for installation so there was no hanging about. I have recommended Nova Networks to other friends of mine and have no problem recommending it to others. You won’t be let down.

I have been with Nova for over three years and have to say that the service is second to none. The speed and connectivity of the service is excellent. Have used some of the mobile broadband units belong to friends of mine and they are terribly slow. Keep up the good work.

I’m living in Jacobs Island in Cork and I changed over to Nova Networks about a month ago and have to say i find their service to be fantastic. Installation was quick, i get a steady 10Mbps download at all times of the day, 100kBps Upload and all for €46 a month.
Previously I had my phone line with Eircom and broadband with Magnet which was costing me €74 a month for 4.9Mbps download and 50kBps upload, so, as you can imagine I am quite pleased with double the performance for half the price.
I can’t recommend them highly enough.

I have been with Nova Networks for over 4 years now. I can honestly say that their service is second to none. I once left them for a mobile provider (needed mobile broadband for work reasons) and went straight back to them after spending 1.5 months trying to get away from the other porvider. Rang Dave and he had me back up and running with 2 hours. Nows thats good service. Will not make the same mistake twice. Have recommended Nova to a lot of people over the years and all are very satisfied with their service as well.

Brilliant!
After getting the runaround for 3 frustrating months from Imagine (that WIIMAX jingle makes me feel like getting sick now) I gave up and contacted these guys.
less than 24 hours later (no kidding) I was hooked up with wireless 3M broadband and phone.
Its flying – does exactly what it says on the tin. Keep up good work NOVA
