I've more history with Skytel than can fit in this comment box, much of it recounted by others on this site. However, I'm still with them because last year, for me, their service became faster and more reliable than I'd ever seen before. Could be something to do with a Coca-Cola comms contract. God forbid they loose it.

I have an alternative (3 Ireland, rural broadband), it can't match Skytel's speeds or latency at my location yet. Our local exchange is DSL enabled, but Eircom has no plans to upgrade what is effectively a 'party-line' from the exchange to my location. I had an Eircom engineer around and he was shooting the breeze with me on how he might be able to do the upgrade. So I said, no point if you can't match or better what I'm getting. Ran a SpeedTest for him there & then, averaging 6MB. He just shook his head - not a chance he said.

I couldn't be arsed giving Skytel a rating - just too difficult. All I can say is keep the current service running - it works for me at the moment.

I have had the misfortune of been with skytel wexford for 3 years in that time i have never had what i have been paying for. They are not worth the hassle of joining up. There should be a regulator to stop the con artists like skytel wexford operating. Now my package is offering 17mb down 1.5 up and my speed test just came up as just under 3MB down and .33MB up. Changing provider this week yippee. Oh and there customer service is appalling.

Appalling service. Have had no telephone now for 3 day's will move from them asap, avoid at all costs, loged fault and then told it wasn't loged but I was talking to the same person who logged it in the first place. Hate being taken for a fool.

I am an expert in networking and Esp in wireless connectivity I work all over the world in this field. I told Skytel of a problem a relative was having and told them exactly how to resolve it. They didn't seem to take it seriously at all and this problem got worse and cost my relative a lot of time, trouble, and nearly a lot of money. Eventually they cancelled with Skytel and went back to Eircom. really not impressed.

Do not waste your time and money with these scam artists! I was with skytel for about 2 years until I couldn't take it anymore and changed to a different local provider (Carnsore Broadband). With skytel I was paying €55 a month for 6mb. Sorry, I should say *UP TO* 6mb! With the new provider I'm paying about half the money for more than twice the speed. If skytel don't keep up they will surely be out of business in no time.

It's a disgrace that they get away with offering speeds *up to* 6mb, for example, and only delivering half that speed 90% of the time.
They say they have no download limit but if you download more than about 50gb they cut your speed down to below 2mb for the rest of the month. Tools.

For a long time skytel were the only option for people in rural wexford but with the competition out there today, such as Carnsore Broadband etc, it's ridiculous that they still operate this way.

Shite service.
I pay for 3 mb. I get .5 mb.
Sometimes it's off for hours.
It's my problem, according to them.
In the absence of an alternative I'm screwed.
But come the day, I will leave them. They after all told me to "take it or leave it".

They are a load of fucking shite.
By the way, they seem to have an way to detect torrenting, if you try it they shut you off. Now someone should tell them that not all torrented files are illegal. Not only is their service shite but they are trying to be your Nanny.

A real disappointment.

Celebration time! I am finally shut of Skytel after three years. Crap from beginning to end. Their final piece of customer "service" was to bill me for three months when the service wasn't working at all, and put me through the hassle of having to complain to ComReg before they were forced to relent. I'm back on Digiweb satellite, which I should never have left. Never again! (Well, certainly never again with Skytel). AWFUL!

I too have had problems with Skytel, Their office is a joke- if you had ever stepped into it- bomb! It shows what kind of an outfit it really is. [Name Deleted]* never returns my calls and tries to fob me off -don't think she knows what she is talking about to be honest! The service itself wasn't too bad in fairness but they need to look at their customer service! there was one helpful girl in there (don't know what she is called) The boss can never be found however. In this day and age they need to focus on their customers which is not happening, still waiting on an answer from them as to why I can't get voip service! think I will be waiting

Absolute opportunism. Thankfully they don't run an airline or a restaurant. Someone else will surely offer a service and we can cancel our payments. Would not even bother to tell them.
