I would leave zero if I could. Do yourself a favor don’t waste your time, money or sanity with this company. Ordered up to 100mb fibre but from day one it wasn’t working hours on the phone talking to eejits that had no idea how to help or treat customers end up having 3 engineers out over a 4 month period an then “finally” the internet worked!! The 3rd engineer asked if I signed up to Fibre & I said yes an he said they haven’t switched you to fibre your just on the basic… I have never had speeds over 4 or 5mb and even constant lags just trying to read the news headlines so anything else like streaming films is more or less impossible… I have rang at least 20 times so far an I just get nowhere & come off the phone exhausted after they talk shit, put me on hold an so on for nearly an hour each time. Ive contacted Comreg who contacted them yet still no calls or fixes from them… Im going to put in another complaint to Comreg but then I’m switching service! We chose their broadband service as my whole family used them as our phone service provider for the past 10 years!! But we have all now changed service. WE WILL NEVER USE VODAFONE EVER AGAIN!!

I have used Vodafone Mobile brodband, via a 3G Dongle they gave me(Huawei R522x), from here in rural Glenties, Donegal, extremely happily) — for three years now!

I’m a software engineer and do a lot of technical work – from home(early retired).

even though Vodafone only give us 7.5 GB for a 20 euro top up, their cherry points (and my and my wief’s usage means) , that we get a free 20 Euro top-up every 9-10 months or so.

Living in the mountains here(albeit, with direct line-of-sight to radio base station and antennae), Vodafone’s Mobile broadband has been a “life saver” for us.

i use it up to 18 hours a day(at various times of the day), and develop the firmware that goes insides broadband dongles, routers etc.

So am not easily impressed, but … their QoS(Quality of Service) , even during rainy, windy, and hail-stoning days/times- here in the mountains- has been above par; in fact, Excellent!

We’re switching back to Vodaofone, until we can find a landline provider who offers – AT LEAST- as fast (in download speeds) an internet connection, thru fixed lines/ADSL, as vodafone provide on their 3G connections. (via a dongle).

overall, very satisfied with their service- at least, based on our personal experience, based here in Glenties, Co. Donegal.

Thank you folks for a reliable internet connx(addressing Vodafone here).

Vodafone has become a company that I have lost simply all trust in. We had eircom up until 2 years ago, and then we switched to vodafone because it was apparently cheaper.
It started off varying around the same as eircom performance-wise or slightly worse, but over-time the service got worse and worse, right now the internet disconnects constantly(about 2-3 times every hour) for about 5 minutes. Also, the modem is a complete eyesore as an ugly white vertically standing box with tiny lights that you have to squint to keep checking if the internet is actually running.
I play online video games quite a lot, and on its own the connection is just about servicable, but as soon as one person wants to type “lol” or “I’m bored” to there two week girlfriend on facebook, indescribable’s hit the fan with the internet, causing the whole service to go haywire.
i’ve heard not so great things about the higher ups in the vodafone company and it really reflects in there products…

Been with Vodafone Home and mobile since summer 2013.
We’re in a village 20miles from the city.

Have had no issues with Vodafone itself.

The broadband is up and down, 500K – 5M depending on time of day. Drops in the evening. I’d guess theres 40 home sharing the 1 line.
Shocking in this day and age.

I presume Eircom etc would be the same service as its the line that is the bottleneck.

Will be looking at the Eircom eFibre later in the year.

Terrible terrible terrible!
They shoot up your monthly charge WIHTOUT telling you and once you finally manage to get that sorted, they “cancel” your number stating that “…you asked for the contract to be terminated when you talk to use 10 months ago” !!!!

Have now moved to another provider and I’m in the process of cancelling my mobile contract with Vodafone too.

Vodafone!? Never again!!!

Vodafone are scammers. They seek any opportunity to part you from your money. They market their broadband as “unlimited” but hide a fair usage policy in their terms and conditions – which is ridiculously long and tedious to read – and their reps ensure their customers that their broadband is unlimited. They don’t even mention the rates, nor did they inform me about going over the 300GB download allowance for the first month, so I ended up going over my download allowance again for the second month after I signed up for fibre.

I also needed a router sent out to me but I managed top fix mine, so I sent theirs back within a week which should reimburse the €50 they charged me for a new one, but low and behold, the router still appears on my bill.

Avoid like the plague.

We have only just got vodafone fibre home broadband installed in our house about 3 weeks ago. We got it because we expected it would’ve able to work better with more items using the internet than our old vodafone internet (which was so awful). We live in Dublin so connection should be fast. The first day it was installed it worked for about 10 minutes then just lost connection! On the first day?! It came back the next morning though. So for the past 3 weeks it’s been pretty steady but last night it completely lost connection and was flashing red all over the modem. So my opinion it has some benefits: it’s cheap, it loads YouTube videos pretty fast, it reaches through most of the house. Disadvantages: it’s very unreliable, slow for watching movies online, vodafone internet just sucks altogether, it’s extremely frustrating (I would know after having bad internet connection with them for a long time). So all in all I’d say you’re better paying extra to go to a better internet company-not vodafone ever.

Garbage, Absolute Garbage. I come to Egypt once a year on vacation for the summer and I have had other providers before. I only came to Vodafone because they offered a lower rate for supposedly the same service I was getting. If you are looking for an internet provider in the Cairo area I DO NOT recommend Vodafone. My supposed Download speed is supposed to be ~4 Mb/s… however after I ran a multitude of speed tests around my house on both my phone and laptop the max i was ever able to get was ~ 1.9. If that’s not enough to deter you away, let me begin explaining the honorific latency issues you can expect from Vodafone. One minute your latency will be fine the next it will shoot to absurd amounts for absolutely no reason; after I ran tests to see what my ping was to their own servers here in Cairo I got numbers all over from 250 ping-900s. It does this for absolutely no reason at all, the service is completely UNRELIABLY inconstant. I called them to report the problems and I was told they would “look into it” which in massive company terms means “they’re not going to do jack”. There customer service is so poor, that when I called to report that the internet ADSL was not functioning ,and might I add for absolutely no reason at all, I spent about an hour twenty on the phone diagnosing/troubleshooting; The man on the phone told me it was from my end and that was a SERIOUS MATTER because on there end everything was working fine, he also told me that he would get someone to my house to see what is wrong in two-three days, TWO-THREE days for a “SERIOUS MATTER”. The technician did not arrive after the three day mark and when I called them they had no comment and assured me that a technician would be there next day. When he came he went through all the steps I went through with the man on the phone, in the end it turned out to be a fault on there end. What a joke, and absolute joke.

I recently switched provider (a Wireless ISP) because;

1) My service started to get unreliable
2) my local exchange was now fibre enabled

I chose Vodafone because for €35, their fiber broadband product promised good performance and was the best value for Money when compared to other providers ie. Eircom.

Installation & Hardware:
The eircom wholesale engineer installed a new wall outlet with built in microfilter. The socket is located in the hallway which isn’t ideal. Using some plastic conduit and a little paint to conceal it, I ran an extension cable from the socket up into the attic where I placed the Vodafone branded Huawei modem.

Performance:
Vodafone Fiber delivers more than double my old provider’s downstream bandwidth and 15x times more upstream bandwidth. Very consistent day and night. No noticeable issues with congestion.

Reliability: Rock solid. No issues.

Support: No opinion. I’ve not needed any support.

Overall – Vodafone’s Fiber Broadband is a good step ahead of my old provider. As much as I would prefer to support a local ISP, they can’t match the performance and price of Fiber enabled exchanges.

Where do I start.

Vodafone is just bad. I’ve been a customer with them since BT went down several years ago. Since then, I’ve had innumerable problems. I’ve spent more time on their customer service in one year then any consumer should have to in a life time, and at the end of it all, I still have the same problems today I had years ago.

I don’t think the word for Vodafone would be “evil” or “malicious”. Just incompetent. Mind bogglingly incompetent. Customer service is good at sounding nice over the phone but ultimately they don’t do much. Maybe they fix your issue today, but it’ll be back tomorrow.

Because of those issues – the absurdly high latency, no matter what I do – the wildly inconsistent download/upload speeds, and generally just no delivering on any decent standard of service, I would love to see Vodafone simply collapse in the broadband market and have them replaced by people who actually care about their customers enough to improve glaring issues in their services that have been problems for half a decade now. But nope, all that matters is that profit margin.

I don’t think I’ve had as many faulty modem delivered to me by anyone. I had one BT VOYAGER modem that lasted me FIVE YEARS. It had its problems, I wont lie about that. One day, it died, and I had to get a new modem from my good friends at Vodafone. Good friends, hah, that’s funny… Of course, they charged me for it, as is reasonable. Then when that broke 2 weeks later, I got charged for another one. And repeat. I’ve been through 4 modems in half a year, and each time I get charged. Not only is that just horrible, horrible quality, it is also blatant extortion with some obviously designed inbuilt self-obsoletion.

Because of those problems, I really had to make a stretch to give CS 3 stars. Then I realised that the VAST bulk of my problems come from clearly incompetent management which doesn’t have the sense to upgrade its services in an increasingly competitive market.

And competitive the market is, because I will absolutely be changing my ISP as soon as I get a feel for what’s on offer.

4* Rating after being a customer for 6 years.

I was originally with BT in Douglas, Cork and was the first exchange in Cork to have 24Mb DSL. It was outstanding in EVERY way.

Subsequently Vodafone took over and we relocated to Carrigaline. I achieved 8Mb connection speed from 2009-2012 rising to 12Mb in 2013 which was realistic for my distance from the exchange.

I am a heavy internet user. This includes streaming lectures using adobe connect while doing a distance learning course, occasionally working from home delivering online meetings/webinars and streaming TV services such as Apple TV/ Netflix etc. THE PERFORMANCE WAS ALWAYS EXCELLENT, until just recently when it ground to a halt altogether. I was getting 1Mb and couldn’t stream anything.

It was at this point I realized Fibre was now available in Carrigaline. I was upgraded last week. The upgrade process was easy, the engineer (from a contracted company) was excellent and left me some free cable and 2 sockets replace the extension I had run into the front room.
I am now achieving between 35Mb and 65Mb download, and the upload has sky rocketed from 1Mb to 10-15Mb. The new modem they give you seems to be much better than the old ones which were hopeless – I invested in a proper netgear one and had been using that instead.

I dropped one star off my rating because.
- Their DSL modems were terrible
- Their old 40GB limit was poor, we went over it when we got an AppleTV and were charged quite a bit extra. If it weren’t for added competition they wouldn’t have changed.
- They charge you too much for a static IP address, this extra charge should be scrapped.
- They’ve made a few customer service mistakes
- Occasional fluctuations in the connection speeds are frustrating

Overall, I would recommend Vodafone’s home broadband to others.

What an absolute joke this company has become.
I’ve been with Vodafone at my home place ever since they took over from perlico. I moved out and away for a while because of work but left vodafone on my mothers line.
When I returned I went into rented accommodation and I got in UPC fibre. A absolutely great service at a great price. Once again I had to move house and unfortunately UPC was not available in my new residence.
With little options I turned once again to vodafone… But it wasn’t the vodafone I knew.. Not even a shell of its former self.
I have had nothing but issues,…
Lag outs, connection timing out. Download speed drop outs. Head and heart ache from their customer service team. System profile lowering without my request or consent… A abundance of issues.
I was ready to give up on them last July when I heard that they were going to be providing fibre broadband soon.
I called them to find out what they would be offering on the fibre broadband and show my interest.
The customer care team assured me I wouldn’t be disappointed and told me that it was to be available in my area from August. Also if I would like to check its availability I could track it on the ‘eircom fibre rollout map’. With this new information I decided to give them another chance.
During the beginning of August a member of the sales team contacted me to say fibre was coming very soon (she estimated it would be the next week or two) and would I like to sign up for it. I nearly jumped down the phone line to accept. Went through all the formal stuff, ..new 12 month contract
.. Do you agree to such and such
.. Etc..
Very happy with my promised upgrade I waited patiently for the fibre product to become active. I waited right through August… Into September ( at this point I started calling every few weeks to find out what wa going on) .. Then October.. November.. In December I had enough of being fobbed of on the phone and they began claiming that no records showed I was contacted in August. In my temper I said I wanted to cancel my vodafone Internet and immediately I was told ” actually it’s available now..can I sign you up sir?”
Angry with the whole situation I asked ” why is it that now the second I threaten to leave you finally tell me it’s available???” She replied ” I’m sorry sir.. I don’t know why you hadn’t been informed of it before”
I bit my tongue for te sake of an easy life ( big mistake) and said ” OK.. Can you please set me up for if over immediately?”
I went through all the protocols and verbal agreements ( again) and came off the phone somewhat relieved.. Even though they had caused my blood to boil I had finally gotten somewhere… Or so I thought.
I presumed I would get a text informing me of my order and appointment for the engineers to come install my fibre but after a few minutes I began to realise it wasn’t coming.
My patience exhausted I decided to leave it a few days before contacting them to ask why I had not received an appointment..
When I finally did I was informed that I had agreed to a contract BUT.. Fibre wouldn’t be available until Jamurary 8th. I cursed and screamed don’t the phone my outrage at all that had happened since August. My temper only inflared more by the carefree ” I do apologise sir” .
To close my vodafone account I was told I had to go through a process of getting the call pulled and cancelling my contract should I still be in my cooling off period ( of which I was a day outside).
The fight gone from me I just said leave it and concentrated on getting through the holidays.
January 8th came around and I contact them. My modem was posted and a installation date set… Today..

The lad from KN installations came nice and early this morning and set it all up for me then tested the line… 11mb down to 0.75mb up.. Worse than my previous internet speeds. He told me to contact vodafone as it was an issue on their end. I rang them earlier to be told I was still on my old package and she then tried to sign me up for YET another new contract. I had to stop her from rambling on about contract particulars to tell her I ALREADY SIGNED UP FOR THIS CONTRACT TWICE.
I DONT NEED A MODEM SENT OUT.. I ALREADY GOT IT.. I DONT NEED AN ENGINEER APPOINTMENT HE HAS JUST BEEN AND LEFT!
She took a moment.. Came back to me and said.. Our system shows you on the old package this is going to take a few days to rectify.
( Keep in mind that while all this nonsense has been going on I have been onto them countless times.. Dare I say weekly.. about issues with my current internet service.)
So now.. I’m tired.. Worn out.. And I just feel utterly defeated from having to deal with this absolute joke if a company.
If you took the time to read this review the whole way through then take a lesson from it. Avoid any interaction with this provider if at all possible… And if you are currently with them then I suggest you start planning your escape
VODAFONE… ABSOLUTE JOKE

Why do I HATE Vodafone
1. Their change over procedure from my previous ISP resulted in loss
of service for several days when I was promised it would be
seamless.
2. Despite being promised that I would be contacted by letter re the
change over instructions I did not get same and was not told what
router changes were required for Vodafone service.
3. Now I’m losing DSL regularly – have to reboot router
4. Promised 17MBit service – sometimes getting as low as 1.5MBit
5. Do feel that their Tech Support is not too bad BUT their
organisation and inter department communication is deplorable
6. Can’t get ANY response for Customer(couldn’t)Care(Less)
Tried email, snail mail, phone calls re a problem (theirs) where they
have my address wrong and aren’t billing me (or at least taking
their invoiced amounts from my Bank as they are supposed to and
as they had been doing).

Actually – I did get some responses re emails but only to tell me that I had to provide further identification information before they would deal with me – when I was trying to sort out the fact that THEY weren’t being paid! and one phone response where they claimed that a) they could find almost NONE of my e-mails (which ran into double figures) on their ‘system’ and b) that the the printed copies of emails which I posted to them were not received, or could not be found. So, on their request and very reluctantly, I re-printed them and to be sure they received them I handed them in to their offices in Leopardstown. I’ve had no response since then – i.e. since August 2013 and haven’t bothered since. This may seem trivial, but it has been going on since March 2013 and they don’t seemed interested or worried and the amount I owe them is growing.

And Vodafone’s broadband service isn’t the ONLY problem – this isn’t the forum so I won’t even bring up their failure to respond re mobile service issues which has resulted in me changing my service provider, as I will also do re their Broadband service, as soon as possible

Summary: The service is unreliable, the performance is way below par and they have no customer service – RATING ZERO

what a bunch of……no no…let us be nice…. erm…all i can say then is that this corporation enjoys nothing but the pursuit of money, solely and simply put they seek money with an alacrity and a level of avarice that astonishes me. Their nominal notion of customer service can only be described and creating distance such that they can claim deafness when you attempt to seek an explanation on any matter. Do not under any circumstances engage or solicit their services on any product unless you can get them to sign a contract written from the customers perspective first, for their’s is a form of coccoon. This is not a staff ‘issue’ but a corporate policy or strategy one.

The internet service, oh. my. God. It’s horrible, I use to be on UPC, but the billing was too much because we got the broadband + channels and all, but I rather stick with UPC 100%. Vodafone’s internet are just too, too slow, especially in a bad weather, just randomly offs when ever it feels like and you can’t play any videos on youtube without having to pause the video and leave the stream line for an hour. I can barely even play a vine (for those who don’t know what a vine is, it’s a six to seven second video, SIX TO SEVEN SECONDS!!). The customer service is a joke they don’t take you seriously about your problems. If my friend wanted to get their first isp I would never mention Vodafone.

I could go on a huge rant here, but I will just list the main problems I suffered from them. I had 7 months of drop outs, occurring up to 20 times a day, some days no internet connection at all (Which they refuse to refund me for ). Extremely slow speed and they throttle at certain times of the day and night. I had to call technical support twice a week if not more. Amazingly, nobody there knew how to look up a database of previous problems, imagine repeating the same conversation over and over again to multiple people for 7 months about many of the same problems. They sent Eircom to fix the issue 4 times and it was never fixed, ever! Clearly Eircom are just as incompetent as Vodafone. I am still getting drop outs, blank screens and slow connections. I could go on and on but they have worn me out on the matter. Do yourself a favor and avoid Vodafone and their nasty business tactics like the plague. The worst ISP I have ever dealt with!!

Foolishly switched to vodafone, thinking they’re all pretty similar nowadays, What a mistake!
Nothing but trouble since, a faulty phone, they wouldn’t replace it, offered to repair but had no phone to lend me in its stead. One of their staff, everything he told me about the problem turned out to be wrong. When I finally got sorted at carphone warehouse I went back to Vodafone and told them I would never buy anything from them again and the guy said “fine”. Tried to get phone unlocked to switch but they won’t let me.
Phone showing disconnected for 15 hours now, and yes I have got recent credit.
Avoid at all costs, useless, ignorant, rude ******!

I just had to post a review when I saw the general views here. I never personally had a problem with vodafone. Been with them for one year and have signed up for another 2. Never any problems. Had a 40GB download allowance but because the account was set up as business we were allowed to exceed this. Often downloaded over 300GB a month no problems or charges. Bad weather affected our line and customer service was excellent help no questions and got a man out the next day to repair it. (business priority).
Any times the internet was disconnected was due to bad weather (fixed) or simply an old router/bad line which I fixed myself and since internet has been perfect.
We are on 8Mb download and get about 3.7Mb which i’m happy with. distance from exchange is about 2km so it adds up. I understand the difference between bits and bytes so internet speed is perfect. Would like faster but no other provider can top that and speed will be increased this year more than likely.

I’ve been a vodafone customer for the last 2 years, perhaps 3, since the BT Merge. I can honestly say, hand on heart, that they are the best service so far in regards to customer service, technical support and I’ve never had any issues. I’ve only called their tech department three times since I’ve been with them, and that was only due to speed issues.

However, here’s the kicker; they suck for value. They are perhaps the worse ISP in Ireland for value. They are expensive, their download caps are geared towards the most expensive packages only, and if your on a budget vodafone isn’t for you, especially if you do a lot of downloads.

They are not really competitive on their prices, but saying that I’ve never had a problem with them. I have been contemplating moving to another ISP numerous times, simply because of the price, and I’ve always been held back out of fear due to potential technical issues with other providers. As of now I’m seriously considering a move to Magnet, but will wait and see.

Overall, a good provider, perhaps I’m one of the lucky ones but you rarely see customers who have a positive experience go out their way to make a review.

Found on several occasions their telephone support excellent (isn’t offshore in Mumbai), so issues are usually resolved quickly. They recently linked my sim to my debit card for easy text top-ups in a jiffy.

My only desire would be for their payg (pre-pay / non-contract) mobile internet to be a tad cheaper or with better allowance, think it’s 20euro for 30days, but you only get 5gb, which these days only lasts couple of weeks with downloads etc.

Think contract is better value package at maybe 10gb for 30days over 12months, but I’m out of the country for several months of the year so don’t want to signup for 1yr…

Had no major issues with connectivity, and never had voice calls drop out.

I would rather pull out all my teeth without anaesthetic than have anything to do with Vodafone ever again.
If you are “managing” your account, ie., upgrading it with Vodafone, be aware that this constitutes a “new” contract, so then if you change provider, no matter whether you have been with Vodafone for 18 months, they will shaft you for the coming out of contract from the date you made changes to your broadband.
In my opinion, this is a low, dirty trick/theft by Vodafone. It’s deception pure and simple.

Vodafone did contact us to offer an upgrade from 7 M to 24 M (49,00/month).
At the end of day, the best they can offer is 17 M.
What are those commercial methods of promising a service that they cant afford?
They should be in court as this is fake advertising.
Once more, welcome to rip off Ireland.
So lucky that there is no serious concurrence on the market.

I use Vodafone broadband 60gb package.

For gaming: Ping is worse than what I’ve experienced with Xtra, Slingshot and Orcon. To a west coast US gaming tunnel, I experience a 145 ping to the server at best, which goes up to 160-180 during peak hours. Not to mention, this 160-180 comes with packet loss and disconnections.

For downloads: I have seen up to and over 2MB/s at times, but inconsistent and often suffer very slow download speeds.

For websites: Slow loading times due to packet loss.

shocking. I’m thinking about changing isp now. 8mb was never the case, very fast ping but who cases if you can’t download stuff fast enough. playing online? forget. lags, lags and lags again. I thought the case of ****** service was my 2nd router connected to vodafone box. unfortunately it wasn’t. it just vodafone itself.
broadband is disconnecting every now and then, not reliable what so ever. 38 eu for 8mb isn’t bad but it’s still waste of money…

Absolutely, without question, the single most appalling service I have ever had the misfortune of paying for in this country.

I could type for hours (and probably lose everything I typed because I get disconnected every 12 minutes) about the issues I have had with this inadequate and sub-standard dial-up service (well, it’s definitely not broadband!), but carpal tunnel would be a concern.

Speeds = not as promised. Paying for up to 3MB, getting 1.8MB piped into my line, and actually receiving 0.7-0.9MB.

Stability = laughable. Lucky if I get a consistent connection for 45 solid minutes, which means my reasons for getting the broadband are null and void (gaming, downloading, Netflix, World of Warcraft, online lectures for my degree).

Staff = the largest collaboration of untrained and unmannerly idiots I have ever had the misfortune of speaking to. No-one seems to know how to log a fault, how to take a telephone number, how to get back to a customer after performing a test (or how to perform the test for that matter), how to take note of issues logged for future staff members who may receive a call. I’ve been asked to borrow cables, telephones, modems, computers, laptops – and most recently given the telephone number for a company in Dublin to come and take a look at my line (they charge €150 for looking at it, €100 for travelling, and €120 an hour for any work that may need to be completed). Because there is a fault on my line that Vodafone are not responsible for. Then I get told, after ringing straight back, that there is NO problem with my line, but SOMETHING is causing the service to log itself out and back in every 12 minutes exactly, and that the TS member had never seen anything like it, but the problem was definitely our 20 foot cable from the socket to the modem.

Ringing tomorrow morning to inform them that I’m switching to Eircom, who are offering us the same package price, except with an extra 200GB of downloading every month and a free repair on my line if there are actually any issues present.

Vodafone have the worst customer service I have ever in my life come across

Vodafone are the wost ISP I have ever had as it never worked once after signing a contract which vodafone subsequently broke
and now want to sue me for as I refuse to pay for a service I never recieved.
I can only recommend to people to avoid Vodafone or cancel any contracts when an apportunity arises.
The company is a disgrace and will use every bullying tactic that exists to get what it wants with zero regard for customers.

Would be interested in hearing from people who have sued them or who would like to at newmanj@live.co.uk

Vodafone has to be the worst performing ISP in the market. Their service provision is absolutely overcontended and they bring every one of their customers to the 56k modem days. Summer, Christmas, my birthday would all come at once if they just left the market to a business that is competent in providing this kind of service. Their customer service is a joke, and ironically for a “phone” company must have the most obstructive process for getting to speak to a human being and when one does, it is worse than speaking to one of the Borg, trotting out their list of questions designed to minimise their time per customer and increase their throughput of so-called “service”. I have recently changed provider and am hoping for better things but this level of shoddy, crappy, bad, bad, bad, level of service should not be allowed to exist in our market.

After months of poor service, I had tremendous problems trying to persuade Vodafone to get an engineer out. Wasted five months with a broadband speed of 0.20 mb/s and a crackling line. Eventually switched to Digiweb and it had an engineer out within a couple of days to find and repair a line fault. Vodafone charged me €600 for breaking contract although I insist that its failure to provide a usable service was a breach of contract. Vodafone’s customer service is a joke; I asked to speak with a Customer Service Team Leader and a Credit Controller. I was informed that neither had a contact number and I could not be transferred.

Please do not switch to Vodafone.Their Customer Care was a disgrace and after I sent an email to their CEO’s Vittorio and Jeroen I eventually got some assistance and only did I do that with the knowledge of 3 Months of Agents telling me exaggerated truths and finally being disconnected by an agent who told me that he would ” connect me now to the correct department “, although the assistance was top class it never once resulted in the problem being rectified.
They blamed everything possible , modem, line, weather, the company which provide the line, and then hang up.
I had this service previously with Eircom without a need to ever call them to report a fault. Just remember that you ” Pay For What You Get. Cheapest A’int Always Best “

Just switches back to Eircom. Biggest mistake I ever made was going to Vodafone. For one and a half year it was nothing but issue with vodafone. I have a telecoms and networking background so I could tell them what was wrong, but still they never fully fixed the problem. My internet always went down during the night, some time for a few minutes and other time longer. When I threatened to leave, they magically fixed the issue but their fix only lasted a few week or less, and then back to normal unreliable slow service. May time when I called to get a status on issue the issue did not exist on their system as the previous person has not logged the complaint.
In the past I have used DSL service from Eircom, Digiweb, Gaelic Telecom, BT and Imagine, all of these companied provide more profession customer service and always resolved and issue. Some of them were not always quick to resolve the issue but they did resolve issue. In the case with Vodafone is a never ending issue, and my original case opened with Vodafone over 1.5 years ago was never fully resolved.

Speed is similar to Eircom ( the usual UP TO 8Mb) but getting about 5/6 Mb. I live about three miles from the exchange. So for I have to give them a good rating.

It beats me why Vodafone are still in the fixed line broadband business. They are really, really terrible at it.

My router is in the corridor and my blood-pressure always does a little leap when I hear the tell tale clicks of another disconnection/reconnection sequence.

Their customer service crew could not be more defensive. I have had to borrow neighbour’s PC’s and phones, just to prove that the issue was not with my kit. Up until then, I just got the stonewall “looks fine from here” response.

The service is so terrible that their call centre is swamped. If you stay in the queue for more than, I think, 20 minutes, waiting to get through to someone, they just drop the call. On some occasions, it took 3-4 of these calls in succession to finally get through to someone. They would get me to perform the same tests as every other person I spoke to, before finally saying that it would need to be raised with Eircom. Could I call back the following morning to do that, as they couldn’t do it in the evening? And they wouldn’t leave a note on my file for one of them to do it in the morning. So I have to call back the following day to say “Please log a fault with Eircom”… of course they shy away from doing that initially, preferring instead to ask me to do the same self checks yet again. When I patiently explain that I can’t because I am now at work, they suggest leaving it until I can do those tests in the evening. I explain that this is what I did yesterday… and so on and on and on and on.

The product is awful and the customer service is worse.

Don’t do this to yourself.

Speeds are decent when the connection holds (~6.5Mbps), but the problem is it could drop at any time (usually towards the night) and might not reconnect from anywhere between a minute to an hour!
We’ve a long time contract with them for a phone in our house, so we’ve gotten an incredibly cheap price with them, but I’m going to be ringing them in the morning to break this contract because using the internet has become one of the most stressful things in the house.
Customer support is some of the worst I’ve ever experienced. They’re not rude or anything, it’s just that absolutely nothing ever gets fixed. They’ve sent out modems and tried messing about with the router, but it’s always the same.
I’ve a feeling it’s an issue with their exchanges (the green boxes in the street where the lines run from the houses) more than anything else.
Hopefully UPC will decide to lay a fibre network in my town, because besides Eircom (and their ridiculous prices with tiny usage) or a wireless provider, there’s not much else to go with.

Having the same issues with vodafone broadband. The feed has been dodgy since we moved house five months ago, constantly switching off and have now been without broadband completely for two weeks! Have made numerous phonecalls (I need broadband for work so was desperate to get the issue remedied) At first we were told by the technician that the issue was on our side – interference from inside the house. We switched off everything, rebooted, made no difference. Rang again, was told the same thing, and that it was not their issue as it was an internal fault and that we would have to get an electrician to look at the phone socket on the wall. Got an electrician who said there was nothing wrong with the phone socket. Rang back, the technician then agreed to send an engineer out. Eircom engineer came out two days later. Checked the lines – nothing wrong with them. he did tell us that Vodafone lines in our area are linked to a lousy exchange – apparently everyone is having issues with this exchange and this is an ongoing problem. He recommended changing to UPC who use fiber optics and are linked to a better exchange that runs smoothly. Rang Vodafone again – this time the blamed the modem – this is a new modem we purchased from them just 5 months ago (we had to pay 19 euros and agree to an 18 month contract). They are sending us a different modem so again – we are still waiting! My question is, how much do we have to put up with before we can break the contract? – Is it even possible to break a vodafone contract?

Customer service and technical support is so appalling that I rated it 1 as I couldn’t give it less than 1. Since installation at the end of july 2011 I have had two modems and now I am being told the modems only have a 1yr lifespan and I must eitehr pay E19.99 and sign in for another 12months contract to get a new modem or pay E79 for a new modem. TOTAL SCAM. Eircom will replace the modem for free if it is faulty and if I needed to buy one I could get it for E50! The average wait time to speak to a technical representative is 10minutes and each time they try to tell some absolute rubbish. I was told before that my HP laptop was at fault and couldn’t handle passwords with letters and numbers. there is sometimes so much interference that nothing will load and my channel has been changed on at least 4 occasions including today. Because DNS failed today i was told initially it could not be repaired because I didn’t have the privileges on a company HP laptop. Why should this need to be changed? They were talking absolute rubbish. Why? Because my macbook also has the exact same issue. Then the next question was do the computers work OK elsewhere? Trying to say that sometimes computerS have difficulty connecting to networks. Rubbish as have never had an issue connecting to Eircom modems nor college WIFI nor a multitude of hotel WIFI/Cable internet. Vodafone have very poor technical support and customer service. AVOID FOR YOUR OWN SANITY!

They neglected to mention that they block all VOIP and torrent usage unless you pay extra. I was getting just 10 gb per month which was fine for light browsing, until I got a phone call offering unlmited usage for just €5 a month extra. In the first month I noticed my speed dropped so slow I couldn’t look up even the plainest of sites, this was due to them throthling my connection as I had exceeded my unlimited usage (apparently unlimited means 15gb to Vodafone). In short, avoid them.

They are one of the most unprofessional broadband services providers I have ever uses. One engineer tried to convinces me that a line test by eircom had reset the password on my router and the I had to wait 30 min and do a re-set, this was actually just a trick to get me off the call as he didn’t have the knowledge to fix the problem. When you report a fault it automatically changes to resolved, Vodafone are so unprofessional that they never confirmed with the customer is the problem is fixed, especially since they actually never fixed the problem, they just marked the issue as fixed so the fake the stats for fixing customer issue. Been with Vodafone for over 1 year, had many problems which they never fixed, received faulty modem, and they never offer a discount or refund due to the fact that they failed to provide a professional serves.

…hoping to have enough connection time to leave this “review”…
So, after being a customer for a month, constantly dealing with connection drop downs EVERY evening starting 7.30-8.00 PM since I’ve joined, managing to reach Customer Service only two times, because every other attempts were dropped suddenly after being on-hold for 10-20 minutes, I have come to the conclusion I have made the worst choice to change my ISP.
There’s more to say to this, my experience with customer service was depicted from a sick black comedy Woody Allen type, with answers so different from one time to the other, feeling like I was from the scene where Phoebe (in Friends) reads the answers from a book being always right and the customer wrong. The issue was never solved, they never gave a solution to the constant drop downs to the extent of experiencing them on a regular bases, every time I use the Internet. Don’t really know what to say, except for NEVER change something that works! I will go back to my original, un-congested connection.

Hi,

I have been with Vodafone for some time, the system has been working fine until last Wednesday 22nd August, when I received a text informing me that there would be some outage, as there were doing and “upgrade” for 12 hours, and then I would have an all new singing and dancing “enhanced service”. However, since last Wednesday I have had no broadband service atall, there is no response from Vodafone despite numerous emails. I called there support line last night and got through after waiting almost 30 minutes. The support staff didn’t have any ideas as to what might be wrong. One week after my so called “Enhanced service” I have in fact no service. Vodafone are ok when things work, however there customer support when things go down is terrible.

I pay for a 8mb connection, because according to the women on the phone, it’s the min we can get.

In true, 3mb is the min, I believe, but forget all that. The **MAX** I ever get is under 1mb!

Complete joke, but not only that, but apparently, we go over the download limit every month. I highly doubt that, the internet is just not fast enough to go over it! So the bill at the end of every month is just outrages for the service we actually get.

When we contracted customer service, we got zero help!

We came to Vodafone from Eircom, because we thought it would be chearp & more reliable. Never thought I would say it, but Eircom is even better then these clowns!

We have left Vodafone, and I can assure you, we will never be back!

If you are thinking about going with Vodafone, just save yourself the hassel and go with ANYONE else!

Please anybody considering this I.S.P walk away asap their service is terible a complete joke, i’m with these crooks at the moment and had nothing but trouble from the start with godawful download speeds to the support staff hanging up, also people trying to leave vodafone and still being charged after they have left i mean the list goes on and on just look at the fourm and you’ll see the problems people are having heres a link http://forum.vodafone.ie/index.php?/forum/9-vodafone-at-home/
scroll through the posts wont take long to find complaints. I use the xbox live service and they told me i went over my more than enough 40gig usage cap by 9 gigs they told me it was due to to using xbox live i’ve had xbox live for nearly 4 years and this has never happend before, but recently we blocked ringing mobiles from the landline because of the charges fair enough that you would get charged heavily for that but that was a month ago and now they have hit me with this going over the cap ******** bit of a coincidence, maybe, i dont know but there is sumthing going on with this provider, they must think everybody is completly stupid when it comes to understanding download limits **** knows how many people are getting ****** over with things like that, why did bt hand the service over to vodafone its just so depressing the state of this isp, if your still considering because of their good prices dont just dont thats what they use to get you in then when you want out they”ll bend you over a table sorry for the language but you have no idea how frustraiting they are, even check the reviews here on ratemyisp and if you do see any good reviews then there a rep of voda YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

It just constantly drops, my most used application or website visited is speedtest! It can show a variety of readings within 5 minutes. At least eircom were consistent, I’m so ****** with Vodafone broadband, i can’t wait till august to get rid of the **** thing,

I changed over to vodafone from eircom in january 2012 to try and cut down on the bill i wasnt sure as I’ve read a lot of bad reviews about vodafone but i took the plunge and as to date I’ve had not one problem with them speeds are the same as eircoms a miserable 2.5meg download eircom told me I’m 1 km too far from the exchange to get 7meg I’m round 7km from exchange but my bill is around €25 month cheaper. Ive told vodafone that if my speed doesn’t increase over the next year I’m leaving them i have pre pay wireless broadband from emobile I’m getting 4-5 meg download during the day and over 3meg at night i might use this as my main broadband yet and some people might not like to hear this but a lot of problems is down to themselves i fix broadband issues for friends and neighbours and you wouldn’t believe some of the things I’ve come across. So after all that i would recommend vodafone.

The bad:
It’s a pretty bad service, we constantly get drops, it not only slows down but completely disconnects. I come home from work at 3am sometimes and get slow speeds (3-4 mbs/8…. And I live in Dublin just a few minutes away from the nearest exchange). The Vodafone technicians are unfortunately completely useless. And will constantly blame faults on either yourself or eircoms lines; how much money would I be willing to bet that these problems would stop if I switched my service to UPC/Eircom – a lot. Like many other people on here I’m quite technologically literate and am doing a computer course in DCU. Everything on my end is set up properly, an Eircom engineer checked the lines. Neighbours on Vodafone/UPC say they have no connectivity issues either.

Dont even get me started on their website, it’s perhaps the most banjaxed piece of shit I’ve ever experienced. Error messages and broken links just aren’t fixed. It’s nearly impossible to get an email address for them.

Pluses: The Phone works grand.

Dont do it three years and promises of 4mb broadband that never happened is all you will get from these people. They will ask their support to call you but at all costs they will never come out to your premises to fix your problem, I had broadband speeds of .78mb. If you sign up to a mobile contract and offer you a discount internet package dont listen as it will never materialise and they will deny any offer. They are unscrupulous and dishonest. Further more I had an 18 month mobile contract with them and even though I didnt cancel my contract till after the 18 month period they now want to charge me a penalty for beaking my contract, then the normal overated monthly bill and then a penalty portal change charge. When you call them and tell them that this is unreasonable they say take it up with our legal people we are not interested. Dont go with these people!!!

Having skimmed through the recent reviews of Vodafones Broadband service, was I not already a customer I would be extremely reluctant to sign up.

However, as I am a customer, and have been for a year now, I have had no real issues like I’m seeing here, no drop off, no down time per se and absolutely no major drops in connection speeds apart form the usual peak times and even then, not really noticeable.

Here is a Speedtest from ” http://www.speedtest.net/result/1873645281.png ” from 20:07 today, 03-Apr-12.

I live in Roscrea, Tipperary and I was with Eircom on their 8Mb uncongested of which if I got half I was doing good. Signed up to Vodafone 24Mb and when I got the letter in saying I was now on their service, I followed the instructions to change my Eircom router settings to the Vodafone setting and immediately my speed jumped to approx 17Mb constantly, and once I got a Speedtest rating of over 23MB, granted that lasted about a minute, but still… :)

I guess what I’m saying is that while I was still using the Eircom line and router my speed pretty much quadrupled and my bill dropped by about 30%. The service has been reliable since and as I work from home doing PC repair and what not, this is invaluable. I was also ale to view a complete internet, not the censored version Eircom is supporting, ie torrent sites, (not that I ever use them, but it’s still nice to be able to should I want to.)

I have also been offered a 12 month Xbox Live Gold Membership and to date 2 mobile phone as an added incentive, all in 12 months. Got offered the 1st phone about 6 weeks after joining, the 2nd one last month to extend my contract and the Xbox Membership at Christmas. Was with Eircom for years and got offered nothing!!

Well that’s my 2 cents on it.

Oh, and I DO NOT work for Vodafone in anyway, shape or form, just in case you may be inclined to think I do.

Review by Mike Malone, January 28, 2012

I have just completed an evaluation of mobile broadband for a client in the Dublin 17 area using 3, O2 and Vodafone. See 3 and O2 for my summary of their respective offerings.
The Vodafone modem, labelled Vodafone K4605, was not supported by any of the mobile broadband routers available to me and so the evaluation could not proceed.

Internet checks also suggest that Vodafone block VoIP traffic which would make them unsuitable for any of my clients as this would preclude or hamper current or future development.

I have not given any star rating for any of the categories because the trials of Vodafone could not be conducted.

Been with Vodafone for nearly 2 years now. The first year was grand not a bother with them. Since last August my connection has been desperate!! Phone call after phone call…new router….filters on the lines…you name it, I done it. My speed keeps dropping to below 1mb. I should be getting 3mb. Today I contacted them about it as Im tired of their unprofessional help and they decided to update my software on my router and ended up breaking the thing!!!! So now they are sending out a new router and I’m currently using my old one. They told me today that there was a fault on the line too…later I rang back and they told me there was no fault!! We had an engineer from Eircom out too and they told me that the line was perfect, yet vodafone still saw a fault and claimed it was the engineers equipment that was faulty! Oh and the manner of some of the Technical Support is absolutely disgusting too! My advice to anyone reading this is stay well clear of Vodafone!!! They don’t mind taking your money….they don’t like helping your problem.

Been with vodafone since I was sold off like a product myself two years ago… by BT who seem to think with Vodafone that the data protection act is voluntary or something…

Anyway that aside I’ve had no major problems with the exception of one time when they lowered our package to another lower one they didn’t even sell… a phone call sorted that out without any fuss.

Sometimes the speed does lower…at peek times (they say its uncontested, but as an IT professional I can tel you that there is no such thing as uncontested and internet congestion is the order of the day worldwide at certain times )

Anyway the long and short of it is you get what you pay for… and in Ireland 8mb seems to be the average for fixed line at the moment.

Maybe in fairness someone should get the carriers to revise that idea since a ot of us use a LOT of bandwidth and some of us use none at all…

Either way my cap is 300 Gb a month and I’d be pretty lucky if I ever actually used over 150 Gb of that….and we have four machines and teenagers in the house using laptops and phones (WiFi) and all sorts of things… in fact we don’t even bother with TV any more and use a media pc on the TV again using up more bandwidth…even that doesn’t put a dent in out 300 gb a month!

it costs about 50 odd euro a month… (well 45 but my partner goes through the 30 minutes of free mobile calls in 30 minutes each month and then some)

Either way… I might be lucky or something but I have no complaints… regular service to a long standing customer with really good support would be my feelings on the matter…

I’ve thought a fair bit about my ratings… it comes from someone that understands the ins and outs of IP and I’d consider it a ‘conservative’ but realistic appraisal.

****

I must respond to the Vodafone staff review below. I had BT internet, which did exactly what it said on the tin – good service. Takeover by Vodafone, a letter telling us that we were being upgraded to 8Mb ‘uncongested’ broadband and we no longer had internet worth talking about. A 1999 56k modem would have left our ‘broadband’ standing. As with other reviews here, Vodafone staff tried to say that it was something wrong with our line . . . . . It took us two months to cancel our home phone and go mobile with everything. EMobile broadband at €19.99 a month was way way way better.

Review by MazLou, January 15, 2012

I would definitely NOT recommend vodafone broadband. We pay €60 per month and the service is so bad, constantly dropping service. If I try to use the internet in my room on the second floor, it won’t work, I have to move down to the sitting room where the router is. Cannot wait till contract is up and we can switch. My rating overall is zero!!

I swapped to Vodafone about 3 weeks ago. I’m based in Tipperary and the phone is working fine but the broadband has been a nightmare. I got a text last week saying the broadband was gone through but now it has been down for over 4 days and I’ve contacted them 3 days in a row. I work in IT and I work from home as well and its proving to be a disaster as I can’t complete work and I can’t get the problem fixed. Should never have changed. I’ve changed all the settings they have asked and logged a problem but usual rubbish an engineer has to take a look at it.

Review by Vodafail, December 16, 2011

We were with ESAT BT for years, always had a great connection that was always up. As soon as Vodafail took over it all went to shit. If and when the connection works the speeds are ok, but it simply never happens. You never know if you will have internet when you go to use it, IF it is connected you may have a connection like this http://speedtest.net/result/1645508715.png this is pretty much the normal.

Like others here I have been through all the “troubleshooting” with them, unplug my skybox, move my router connection point, try another router, replaced my dsl filters, restart my router and so on. If I can sometimes have a 5mb connection for a week uninterrupted then suddenly no connection or >1mb the problem does not lie on my end as nothing changes in my setup .Can’t wait to get off Vodafone avoid them at all costs. Sort yourself out Vodafone your losing customers by the boat load.

Extremely poor service. Constant drop in speed. Router provided is terrible. When provided I informed Vodafone that it was broken (could not update firmware, blacklist MAC addresses, change my WiFI information or turn it off, could not open up ports on the router.) and I was simply told they could do nothing about it and that my only option was to buy a new router (€40). ******* ridiculous! As well as that their website has been broken for months since they decided to update. If you’d like to contact Vodafone you can’t as their contact form is broken, their logon services go down once a week, a majority of the services on their website has never worked. I you try by phone your either told that their having technical difficulties or your stuck on the phone to a ******* machine for an hour & a half. And considering I pay €50-€70 a month for a ****** broadband & phone service (Phone+Broadband+Broadband Limit +30GBX2+AV) and that when their is a fault with my line that I have to pay up to €100 to get it fixed even though it’s a problem with another ISP makes it ******* ridiculous!

Now, we should be in good healt, and not having to go to doctors every day/week/month. The question is: would you like to be sick as many times as this 89 people wrote they had problems with “vodafone”? would you consider that NORMAL?

I signed for unlimited usage for 18 moths. The first 10GB of the usage were smoothly and with good connection. But once the 10GB were used (that was in 2 days and half, as the house had 2 computers) then the rest of the month (28 days) we were stuck with a very slow internet. Was horrible. thanks though that they called us and cancelled us the contract in the 12th month because of excessive usage (they said) and that was 40-45 GB a month.Although the contract was signed under Unlimited Usage, I could not been happier when I received that call, as we could go and tried to find a better supplier.

I work for Vodafone. I have read some of the reviews here. I would say 90% of them are line faults or internal issues.

If you are experiencing constant drops, there could be something connected on your telephone line that is causing the drops, for example, a faulty fax. Remember every telephone socket in use needs to have a DSL filter on a broadband telephone line. And yes, devices do degrade. If I had a penny for every time I heard ‘It worked fine with eircom’ I would be a millionaire.

I have worked in Technical Support for over 4 years and I have heard it all. There is a solution to every problem. Whatever you are experiencing, it has happened to someone else before you and there is a fix for it. Sometimes the tech agent cannot diagnose what the issue is and when that happens it’s something internal at your premises that is causing the issue like a faulty modem, faulty DSL cable, faulty phone socket, sky box unfiltered, monitored alarm unfiltered, faulty extension cable, faulty fax.

DSL broadband is based on copper wire technology which can break like anything else. If your telephone is noisy, chances are there is a problem with your broadband too.

Broadband speeds are determined by how far you are away from your local telephone exchange. As your telephone cable is connected to the local exchange, your broadband also comes thru that telephone cable. The further you are away from the telephone exchange the weaker the signal becomes and the slower the speed is going to be. It’s simple physics. The closer you are to the exchange the higher speeds you will get. If you are right beside the exchange, your line will handle up to 24mb. There’s that phrase ‘up to’. It’s very important. My line can handle up to 10mb but I’m on an 8mb profile and my speeds are about 7.5mb download. That means I’m pretty close to the exchange and I’m paying for an up to 8mb package and the dowload speeds of 7.5mb is correct as I will never get 8mb speeds on an 8mb package as it’s not technically possible.

I could go on but I hope some of this sinks in if you have stumbled here and want to rant about how bad your service is.

Oh one more thing. If an agent thinks the problem might be one thing and when you ring in next time a different agent thinks it might be something else, that’s called troubleshooting. It doesn’t mean they are both wrong or both right. It means they are coming to a conclusion based on the information they have.

Remember troubleshooting is like Sherlock Holmes trying to find a killer. When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.

Constant line drops, every night at 8pm, 1am, and 5am there is absolutely no service and router has to then be unplugged. Tech support is a complete joke, I’m a firm believer none of them even graduated school. Customer care, you can’t talk to them because it is literally them interrupting you every time you try to speak. It then turns into a scream match to see who can get over who. So forget actually being heard.

Also, as the above comments mentioned. When talking to tech support they say the same bull shit, but a different story every time. I have only been with them a month, and wish I would have found this site sooner. Only after this disaster did I find this. We are on router #3 …. OH! I didn’t mention now they want us to unplug all of our phones. Hmm…phones never gave us problems with Eircom. Didn’t have any random drops with Eircom and it’s a fairly new line Eircom put in roughly a year ago…but yet Vodafone changed us from 3, to 5, back up to 8 but we are lucky to see between 3-5 on an 8 line. It was far worse on the other packages.

Switched from UTV to Vodafone performance pro as the cost was 19.99 per month for up to 22MB and 15GB sounded like a great deal but like all things that sound to good to be true, it was.
1. The first 2 months I wasn’t on any tariff and my bill was €300 to €400 a month it was nearly 4 months before it was sorted, but because my bill was unpaid they throttled back my speed to about .5MB.
2. Could not use VoIP or peer to peer as Vodafone had blocked these even though when I was inquiring about the service before I bought it I was told this was all included. I had to pay another €19.99 a month for access to this service.
3. I am lucky enough to be in their 22MB mobile broadband area knowing that I wouldn’t get the full speed I asked what should I expect to get from their sales guy and I was told I would receive 14MB no problem. I have NEVER received 22MB or even 14MB. The highest I have received is 11MB that was on the first couple of weeks after sorting out my bill. Today I am Paying for 22MB +VoIP but only receiving 3MB. I will never deal with Vodafone again and I would recommend that you don’t either. I am currently looking to change to Nova or East Cork Broadband as soon as my contract is up. If I could give them 0 I would.

They have tried to blame the line but eircom say no problem.I have reset and changed the router without any luck. They have tried to blame the house wiring but it is a relatively new house. They reported the problem to Eircom as a dial up problem and not as a broadband problem.I wonder why.A good deal cost-wise but no deal as not constant service.I have tried everything such as disconnecting landline phones, changing connection points, filters etc and all to no use.

An absolute disaster, most ignorant customer service I’ve ever encountered. Applied for a 24Mb service, line was checked and ok to go. Got a modem , installed and for a start I was getting around 6-8Mbps. After a month I contacted support, but they advised , that the line I currently have cannot support more than 10Mbps, and this after all the checks. I’ve been told that the line will be changed over in near future and after that I will get the product I’ve been paying for. But after that I’ve started experiencing disconnects, could’ve been every hour. I contacted support and the saga started. I ve been asked if I am using the filter, as it is a must, I replied yes, than after exchanging few e-mails was told to try without the filter although it was a no no according to the previous correspondence. After about 15 e-mails, I was simply passed to the next customer service advisor and it started all over again. I requested the credit for the time I was overcharged, as the product supplied wasn’t matching the product requested and I’ve been promised that my account would be credited after the issue sorted. The issue was never sorted. It lasted nearly three months, until I had enough and stopped the payment. Pity there is no minus ratings and no legal instrument against such a company with such indespeakable levels of service.

Vodafone ‘service’ is a nightmare. Avoid at all cost!

I’ve a problem for almost two months of the modem re-syncing somewhere between 50-100 times a day and dropping the line. My phone line drops too but not as often. This is only the latest in a series of problems.

Support is terrible, I’ve done the same tests every time I ring which is almost daily now. There is no continuity, every time it’s a new call with the same questions and tests, they refuse to escalate the problem despite its persisting for almost two months. This after saying they had escalated the problem and they would ring me within 24hours (they didn’t). The main objective seems to be to get you off the line and once you hang end of problem for them. they never follow up or ring you back.

- I’ve been told that its a problem with the modem (they supply) but the problem persisted with 2 other modems.
-They dropped my line speed, no change.
-I’ve been told its an exchange fault but it worked fine on the same exchange with eircom.
-Was told it was a fault on the line, eircom engineers came out and said it was fine. I’ve been told its a fault on the line again that eircom failed to fix.

When the service is on the speed is good and my line quality is very high with little noise etc. but there is no fix -or desire to find a fix- in sight.

At this point the only solution is to break my contract as I don’t believe that vodafone are capable of supplying the service.

I had the mobile dongle and subscribed to the “Unlimited” plan. I recently began using their Sharing Dock so I could use the same connection around the house. I pay c.€30 per month for this broadband and I also have 2 phone lines on the same account. I tried using SKYPE and I also need access for P2P for Gaming and the like and neither worked. When I queried this with Vodafone they said I had to pay an additional €20 to use these functions. Bearing n min I am now already paying these clowns over €100 per month on subscription charges I thought this was extortion. I pointed out to them that I am currently subscribed to their “unlimited” broadband package and what they are actually doing is filtering certain types of traffic and as such it is not unlimited but is indeed restricted and there was also no mention of these filters on the network in any of the contract documentation (Surprise).

My contract on all 3 services is up this month so I will either get the filters off or move to another provider.

Other than the restricted service, once the settings are set up to 3G only it is not such a bad service, if you set it to 3G preffered it often reverts to GPRS which as we all know is crap!

With BT and then Vodafone. Absolutely brilliant service until last April around when my local exchange was due to go NGB enabled.

Now, my router looses connection and needs to do a resync, averaging once every three mins, all day, every day for almost four months. Customer service techs recognise a problem but cant find the source so shrugged their shoulders.

Waiting to move provider now, never to return.

VODAFONE IS AWFUL! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Nightly outages, not getting anywhere near the speed we pay for! Paying for 8mb/s and receiving 0.2mb/s most of the time!
Oh and yet again vodafone you have an outage right now! I have to use the 3G internet on my phone which isn’t with vodafone because my broadband is yet again down and has been for 24 hours. And what surprise customer care don’t care!
And as for that person who said that they were unfair reviews from people who don’t know how to use broadband it isn’t!
We even unplugged our sky box from the phone line when vodafone suggested we do so! It didn’t make a difference!!!!
He was most lightly a vodafone employee.
Contract is up with vodafone in 2 months and can’t wait to switch! Counting down the days!
Comreg can’t do anything because they sneakily put in the terms and conditions that you pay for UP TO 8mb/s and not 8mb/s itself which it says in the ad. And they also say they can suspend service whenever they need to! Wish I could give them 0 stars!

Review by Mihai Burghelea, June 12, 2011

Hmm, how many stars to give to this Vodafone connection I have in Dublin…
You see, I’m Romanian, coming from Bucharest. There the worst connection you can get is ADSL2 at 24mbps. But that’s only if you can’t get anything else, like if you’re in a small village. If you’re in any city, the worst you can get is internet by CATV at 35mbps with no download limit for less than 10eur/mo, all CATV operators also offer internet. But if you’re in a major city, then you have FTTB (fiber to the building), 10eur/mo, no download limit, no traffic shaping, no strings attached. The link comes as a regular UTP (Ethernet) cable, no modem, pure 100mbps directly to your computer. If it’s not enough, you can bridge several, 10eur/mo each.
Ah, and this service comes with a complimentary 3G stick for when you’re out in the park. Is really like that, 10eur brings you 100mbps at home plus 7.2mbps mobile.

So how many stars to give to this bloody Vodafone service I have here in Dublin? Well, no stars is too much.

Vodafone Broadband is absolutely rubbish. I never had a problem wit BT Esat.
My VF landline broadband would go down from 5 minutes to 1.5 hrs nearly every night.
Rang 1907 for assistance – After all the numbers pressing, sometimes you finally get to talk to a so-called Technical ‘Useless’ Support Person. At the start of the call, you have to give them your landline No. Several times while talking to a really ‘Useless’ Support Person, you would get cut off.
They will never ring you back. One told me that my modem was more than 2 metres from the Phone Jack and my DSL goes down because of interfence; so I moved my modem besides the phone jack but I was still having the same problem. Another told me my Sky connection was affecting my broadband.
My contract is up in 2 months time and I can’t wait to move to another ISP.

I’ll probably be repeating what a lot of others are saying. But it really must be said. For all the people who think all the negative comments are made up… come to my apartment for a few hours! This is my experience…

I was originally with BT until they sold their home broadband service to Vodafone. My experience with BT was very good. 1 drop in connection in 3 years.

Soon after being transferred from BT mb to Vodafone 8mb line, I decided to bump up my package to the “Up to 24mb” package. I knew I would only get around 14mb but that was ok. Ever since the transfer from BT (regardless of what speed I was getting), there were constant Interruptions to the broadband service, i.e. no internet for 10 minutes or more happening around 5 or 6 times for day. Sometimes the interruption would last up to an hour.

As part of my upgrade above, I was entitled to a free wireless modem. I had to ring them 3 times to actually get it. And when it finally arrived, I was charged for it. And no, it wasn’t refunded in the next bill like they promised. Or the next bill, or the one after that.

Then, as part of their internal upgrade, they reduced my speed to 1mb without any notification. Again, I had to ring them as to why my speed had dropped. Technical Support could only get my speed back up to 8mb. I have been trying ever since then (2 months now) to get them to put me back on the “Up to 24mb” speed which is what I have been paying them for all the while.

They do not deserve to hold a license to provide broadband in this country. So many times I have been working from home due to the severe winter weather and my work has been affected because of the constant service interruption. Not weather related, I can assure you. It was no better or worse during that time – just equally as bad.

Comreg are now aware of my situation. I hope they can help me out and others who are in a similar spot. My 12 month contract is up very soon. I am literally counting the days left now until I transfer to a provider who isn’t utterly useless at providing fixed line broadband.

Thanks for reading.

I’ve sorted a lot of peoples problems by putting a filter on their phone line going to a sky box. In my experience this causes 90% of problems because Sky don’t do it for you.

I was a BT customer for years and never EVER had a problem with them. then I was bumped off to Vodafone. Ever since ten I’ve had had nothing but constant disconnects. At least 3 times a day and sometimes for a few hrs. frequent calls to technical support fruitless. I must have the most tested line in the country because every time I’m on its the same rigmarole. “Please reset modem, leave it off an hour, we’ll reset the port in the exchange, we’ll do line tests, we’ll log a fault with our engineers”… blaa blaa blaa. None of this has worked.
I’ve tried new modem/routers, had my internal phone lines tested by an eircom engineer, replaced all my filters, reinstalled my operating system and nearly threw the PC out the window a dozen times. Still no joy.
Anyways When I got up this morning and my conection was down again. So i’ll ring technical support when I get home again. No doubt a waste of time.

Have been using Vodafone 3G for a long time. Obviously with 3G everyone’s mileage varies with coverage, contention etc., but I am lucky enough to be in a rural area with good coverage. Speed has been increasing over the last 12 months, and I now regularly get 5.5 mbps. Recently started using their handy little MiFi, so I can connect wirelessly within the house, instead of plugging in a 3G dongle. Speed drops sometimes (not unexpectedly with a 3G service), but I am using this service as a backup for my “main” provider (Skytel — see my review of them). Thinking of making Vodafone my main provider now that I have given up on ever getting decent VoIP in this broadband backwater that is Ireland. Have never dealt with their customer service, so can’t comment.

They ‘said’ they would pick it up. 1 week later it was still in my possession and they said they’d tried 4 times to pick it up (total lies as I’d been stuck in the whole week). So we had to drop it to their depot ourselves.

We had years of trouble free broadband from BT but ever since Vodafone took it over the service has been either intermittent , non-existent or extremely slow (300k at times).
“Technical” support default answer is to reset modem – losing wireless settings, or suggest it is a line fault (it never has been a line issue).
There are 3 different connection passwords and their support can’t even tell you which one will work to get a connection.
Customer service do not care about customers and will not credit you for lack of service and when I told them they would lose me as a customer they were absolutely fine with that.
I work as an IT consultant to SME’s and would never recommend Vodafone for broadband service based on lack of reliability and poor customer service.

Stay away from VODAFONE!!!!!!!!!! and if you expirienced any problems with your internet – THE ONLY OPTION IS TO SWITCH TO DIFFERENT PROVIDER.
Forget the customer care! There is none – even thought they think they have one there.
When I told them that I’m not happy that my broadband is down for 2 weeks – they told me that it is gonna be fixed within 5 working days, then when I said that I’m not happy with this as I paid by direct debit and and will not get the service I paid for 3 weeks in total – rather than giving me credit on my account, as was their fault – the answer was just: “If you don’t like you can cancel the contract-simple as this”
They know less about networks than any normal average user.(one solution for all-’reset your modem’). Ha Ha Ha!!!!
What a **** Excuse my words
With a such “GREAT” customer service it is a surprise that they are still in Broadband Business today.
May be they are good with mobile phones – but they are crap with providing Broadband. Stay away if possible

Been with Vodafone @ home since they took over BT. Moved house recently, the new house had a previous broadband connection. I rang Vodafone, providing the previous phone number of the premises, to get Vodafone Broadband transferred from the old house to the new house. The first agent basically told me to f off to Eircom, that Vodafone is not able to activate the line by themselves. So I reluctantly called Eircom, and had the line activated, with a new number -which, as it turns out, means entering a contract with Eircom.
Have been ringing and emailing Vodafone for 5 weeks ever since, trying to get the broadband activated. Pretty much every phone agent told me that they ‘will look into it’, and did nothing – whenever I called, none of the previous calls were documented. Agents were not even aware of the order to cancel the old line. Several agents promised call backs and emails, none of them followed through. Not a single agent was friendly on the phone, each one was bored and reluctant to do anything at all. At this stage I’ve pretty much given up, and am looking hard for a better ISP…

Vodafone Ireland has its main Irish call centre based in Dundalk, employing in the region of 200 people. Most if not all those working there have access to all customer details from their phone records. For years now it is the talk of the town who is ringing who and who is texting who. Many employees discuss vodafone customer details on the outside and this can be very dangerous in a town like Dundalk. What is there stopping Vodafone employees discussing phone records with serious criminals or terrorists. Very little background checks are done on those working in Vodafone.

have just got off the phone with their tech support this minute, that was about the tenth time contacting them about very slow download speeds, each new person takes you thru the same drill and then you get the same excuses, contention, eircoms fault, maybe your modem faulty. utter crap. got then to send me out one of there modems and still the same. i now have to do the time trial thru the day and call them back. my patience is wafer thin with vodafone ,am going to cancell contract with them if they keep this up

I have as most of the other posters have, had a terrible time since Vodafone took over from BT. I live in Wicklow and sent a query thru to their technical support. They told me it was due to peak demand and sent me some info on their upgrading a facility in Sligo!!!! I NEVER htought I would be looking to Eircom as a saviour but it seems to be my only hope of saving my sanity!! oh and as for the peak time, the system fails anytime night or day. tried this morning at 1.30am when I got back from work ..it failed, was on it at 12.30pm today and it failed, anything from 1 minute to several hours! even as I write this the link has failed!! As far as I am concerned Vodafone = FAIL. Stay far away!!

only reason i am giving them 1 star is i fear 0 stars will not be recorded

I was switched from bt to vodafone a few months ago
initially there was no problem…

bt was great.. in 2 and a half years I never even had the smallest grievance.

The problem started with vodafone at the start of this month with a few disconnections… nothing 2 bad
Over the past 2 weeks my internet is constantly down
the technical support is terrible… they all have the exact same solution that “will work this time”
today i rang them up and decided to speak with customer care… and maybe try and get a vodafone router instead of my bt voyager.

The rep was having none of it, kept cutting in to direct me to technical support
eventually i just couldn’t get the sentence out and accepted to be put through to tech support
while there i was asked to buy new micro filters… this will not work, i know for a fact it will not work
but I am going to buy them anyway… after i try them.. i will be ringing vodafone to cancel my account.
I will also be contacting comreg and attempt to get reimbursed for the month of may

Yet another former BT customer. some of the same problems as other posters. The tech support are fighting it out with the guys from ntl as the worse gobs#its on the plannet. In 3 years with BT i had to call them 2 times, since being forced to join vodafone I`ve spent more time on hold, waiting around for call-backs that never happen. I called one tech support person and she sounded like she was asleep, mind another one blocked me out of my modem over the bank-holiday weekend last….no service for days. Got the same speel about eircom owning all the lines and thats the reason its so dear and sloooow. When BT had the account the afterhours tech support was with bangoloor but at least they knew their stuff. The extreem ” more than words” hold music is now a triger to beat someone up if i hear it on the street, I`m holding out for NTL to roll out fiber power and I`d never thought i`d long for that shower. One word to discribe vodafone….AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Stay away from these mupets. I was on the 3mb package but never got this, it was always less than 1mb and when I spoke to them it was everones fault but there own. After 4 months I put in for a house move which happened on the 43 day but they never included broadband so I rang again and was told it would that anothere week to sort that, rang today a week and a half later and was cut off 3 time when talking to customer support only to be told on the 4th call that they have no record of me ordering broadband to wich I replied to stick it where the sun dont shine!!! lol.
I think there customer service is the worst ever and would advise to stay away!!!

First off I found that I couldn’t connect wirelessly. I tried several computers around the house, one would connect, the rest would drop the connection after a couple of seconds. I then tried through a wired connection and found that each computer would pick up the modem but would not connect connect to the internet. I press the reset button and it doesn’t reset. The one laptop that does connect gets an average speed of 1.8Mb/s and I’m paying for 7Mb/s. I call customer support and they tell me everything that I’ve already tried. The connection problems surprised them but they gave me a long list of things to do to solve my speed (including deleting my cache and cookies), none which worked. They told me to take several speed test s over the course of the day and call them back. From the speed tests I learned that my old 3Mb/s Eircom broadband ran faster.
Vodafone Broadband is the worst I have experienced and I hope to get out of my 12 month contract with them since they are failing to provide any service.

This “service” from a well known Telecoms brand name is a sham. Their download speed – nominally 3mgs – never matches a fraction of that and I can see the local exchange! Their Customer Support is a joke: won’t acknowledge written and documented broadband complaints; customer service rep’s blame Eircom exchanges for THEIR broadband speed problems and never return calls. You might get it (bundles and broadband) cheaply but you will pay by the wasted hours sitting waiting for items to download – if at all. The Minister and ComReg need to do some serious investigating of ISP providers (such as these) who do not provide what they advertise. Go elsewhere until they meet their contractual arrangements with their existing customers. These Vodafone customers will be disappearing fast – at the very earliest opportunity!!!

Their 3mgs download speed is usually 300-800kbytes and only 1 mile from the exchange. Customer Service is only a name. Dire, apalling. Excuses about Eircom controlling the exchanges. Technical Support answers but overwhelmed by complaints and cannot deliver the contracted speed. Ditto about Eircom restricting their service.

Utter tripe, pages wont load, download speeds only just above dial up.
This appears to be a very common problem, why cant they do something about it ?
I wonder will they be so slow to act when i refuse to pay. Surley there has to be some
consumer protection that covers this, at times I dont have any service at all.

Just changed from Perlico and saving so much money as I’m with them on bill pay. Internet hasn’t dropped once but used to do so everyday before.
Also done loads of testing and seems as though the line quality is actually quite good. I get about 6.2 out of my 7mb/s package and am quite happy.
Have heard some bad reviews in the Dublin area though so maybe there’s a problem.
Works great for me though!

Another previous BT customer who has changed over to vodafone. What a complete and utter farce of a company. Do not waste your time with these complete and utter half whits. They have passed the buck with me for weeks and simply do not care.

I had a 7mb package with BT, changed to the “upto” 8mb package with vodafone and have never seen over 1mb since.

Its about time something was done about this. Between the posts on their own Forum and boards.ie from frustrated users it is crystal clear that they have serious problems.

AVOID!

If you’re thinking of an ISP in Ireland – choose another.. any other! because nothing is worse than this. They will promise you the world and deliver ya nothing. Trust me you don’t want 12 months of this crap

Simply dreadful. I was an extremely happy BT Ireland until I switched over to the Vodafone Ireland home broadband 7MB package. Their DHCP policy is a joke, causing daily outages. Their support department should be called “Customer Don’t Care”.

Worst of all is the performance of their package. I might as well have 56KBPS dialup at times. Sites with image content randomly timeout or fail to load completely. I had to scream blue murder to get to talk to an engineer because Customer Don’t Care couldn’t/wouldn’t escalate the call. The engineer analysed network captures I provided and admitted he could see timeouts. That was a week ago and nothing has happened.

You can see on forums that I am far from unique. There is a major problem with the Vodafone Ireland network. They either cannot see it or won’t confess to it.

Forget call Customer Don’t Care. Oh – that supervisor will never call you back. I got an agent to admit that supervisors pick and choose which call backs to make.

The number you need is 01 8049600. That’s COMREG. With a COMREG complaint reference number you can actually get to speak to someone other than Customer Don’t Care. It’s legally mandated. And then you can get COMREG to transition you to another ISP with no outage whether you are in a contract with VI or not.

My diary of my battle is here: http://www.aidanfinn.com/?s=vodafone+ireland

Its really only a dial-up service where I am located, but the only other option is satellite as eircom are not upgrading the local exchange and we’re not covered by NBS.
Performance is very poor and reliability is terrible.

There was no seamless change over. In fact the entire time i have been with them i have had consistently bad connection, dropped connections and no service.
Their customer services are appalling. It took 2 weeks to get some form of resolution which turned out to be that the router they provided is substandard. They then sent me 2 different routers and the same problem.

On their support forum you can not post any Q’s.

Broadband connection dropped about 8 times over 3 hours use.

Very little good to say about this crowd. I am in an area that is supposed to get the super duper 24 mbits/sec, however I rarely get more than 3.5. Of course their customer support blames the lines connecting my house to the main line or whatever blah blah. They also blame this for the connection dropping 3-4 times a day. Can’t wait til my contract is up to change to something (hopefully) better.

At this stage I have given up on Vodafone altogether. Connection issues described above were ok for a few days then it all went pete tong again. At this stage I have given up on Vodafone. I have been using my neighbours Eircom BB connection for 2 weeks now.

The real pisser is I have signed up to Eircom to move my account back and so far its a *****.
Firstly the form on their website id the wrong one. So filled in a second.
Got a call from their win back team to confirm details which I duly did. Then I had to get transferred to a 3rd party to verify that I wanted to change back to Eircom. This is a fter filling in 2 different forms and confirming all my details in a recorded phone call.
Third party verifier had the wrong number and refused to proceed untill he had the right details. I was then transferred back to Eircom and placed on hold ’cause all operators were busy. SO I hung up. SO at this moment in time I have no idea what is happening!!

I think a lot of it is the regulators fault. It is so anti consumer & shit that it has to be a government appointed floozie running it.

ALl BT’s Customers were promised a seamless changeover. That was not the case

I had a month of dropped conections, slow page responses and could not access any page that required a secure connection. So no GMail, Hotmail. I couldn’t even access the VF website for support:-{

3 phone calls and a message via the website (accessed from my neighbours bb acccount). Needed to change from the ESAT servers to sort out the dropped connections and a change of DNS addresses to sort out the access issues.

Seems ok for the last 48 hours but I am not fully convinced yet.

Staff are sound to deal with, cant fault them at all. Pi55ed off with ESATBT though. They took my money for 3-4 years then just washed their hands of their customers.

For anyone having the same problems and there are loads by the way the DNS addresses to try are:
89.19.64.164 and/or 192.111.39.1
