Never even consider getting wifi from Vodafone. I used to be an online gamer because of this, now I can’t enjoy a casual game of anything. When you download anything be ready to see the download stop completely during it. I wanted to download Hearthstone, and actually gave up after not even reaching 1 meg in 10 minutes. Any normal internet should be able to download a 4.5meg program in less than 30 seconds. Absolutely appalling.

I would leave zero if I could. Do yourself a favor don’t waste your time, money or sanity with this company. Ordered up to 100mb fibre but from day one it wasn’t working hours on the phone talking to eejits that had no idea how to help or treat customers end up having 3 engineers out over a 4 month period an then “finally” the internet worked!! The 3rd engineer asked if I signed up to Fibre & I said yes an he said they haven’t switched you to fibre your just on the basic… I have never had speeds over 4 or 5mb and even constant lags just trying to read the news headlines so anything else like streaming films is more or less impossible… I have rang at least 20 times so far an I just get nowhere & come off the phone exhausted after they talk shit, put me on hold an so on for nearly an hour each time. Ive contacted Comreg who contacted them yet still no calls or fixes from them… Im going to put in another complaint to Comreg but then I’m switching service! We chose their broadband service as my whole family used them as our phone service provider for the past 10 years!! But we have all now changed service. WE WILL NEVER USE VODAFONE EVER AGAIN!!

I have used Vodafone Mobile brodband, via a 3G Dongle they gave me(Huawei R522x), from here in rural Glenties, Donegal, extremely happily) — for three years now!

I’m a software engineer and do a lot of technical work – from home(early retired).

even though Vodafone only give us 7.5 GB for a 20 euro top up, their cherry points (and my and my wief’s usage means) , that we get a free 20 Euro top-up every 9-10 months or so.

Living in the mountains here(albeit, with direct line-of-sight to radio base station and antennae), Vodafone’s Mobile broadband has been a “life saver” for us.

i use it up to 18 hours a day(at various times of the day), and develop the firmware that goes insides broadband dongles, routers etc.

So am not easily impressed, but … their QoS(Quality of Service) , even during rainy, windy, and hail-stoning days/times- here in the mountains- has been above par; in fact, Excellent!

We’re switching back to Vodaofone, until we can find a landline provider who offers – AT LEAST- as fast (in download speeds) an internet connection, thru fixed lines/ADSL, as vodafone provide on their 3G connections. (via a dongle).

overall, very satisfied with their service- at least, based on our personal experience, based here in Glenties, Co. Donegal.

Thank you folks for a reliable internet connx(addressing Vodafone here).

Vodafone has become a company that I have lost simply all trust in. We had eircom up until 2 years ago, and then we switched to vodafone because it was apparently cheaper.
It started off varying around the same as eircom performance-wise or slightly worse, but over-time the service got worse and worse, right now the internet disconnects constantly(about 2-3 times every hour) for about 5 minutes. Also, the modem is a complete eyesore as an ugly white vertically standing box with tiny lights that you have to squint to keep checking if the internet is actually running.
I play online video games quite a lot, and on its own the connection is just about servicable, but as soon as one person wants to type “lol” or “I’m bored” to there two week girlfriend on facebook, indescribable’s hit the fan with the internet, causing the whole service to go haywire.
i’ve heard not so great things about the higher ups in the vodafone company and it really reflects in there products…

Been with Vodafone Home and mobile since summer 2013.
We’re in a village 20miles from the city.

Have had no issues with Vodafone itself.

The broadband is up and down, 500K – 5M depending on time of day. Drops in the evening. I’d guess theres 40 home sharing the 1 line.
Shocking in this day and age.

I presume Eircom etc would be the same service as its the line that is the bottleneck.

Will be looking at the Eircom eFibre later in the year.

Terrible terrible terrible!
They shoot up your monthly charge WIHTOUT telling you and once you finally manage to get that sorted, they “cancel” your number stating that “…you asked for the contract to be terminated when you talk to use 10 months ago” !!!!

Have now moved to another provider and I’m in the process of cancelling my mobile contract with Vodafone too.

Vodafone!? Never again!!!

Vodafone are scammers. They seek any opportunity to part you from your money. They market their broadband as “unlimited” but hide a fair usage policy in their terms and conditions – which is ridiculously long and tedious to read – and their reps ensure their customers that their broadband is unlimited. They don’t even mention the rates, nor did they inform me about going over the 300GB download allowance for the first month, so I ended up going over my download allowance again for the second month after I signed up for fibre.

I also needed a router sent out to me but I managed top fix mine, so I sent theirs back within a week which should reimburse the €50 they charged me for a new one, but low and behold, the router still appears on my bill.

Avoid like the plague.

We have only just got vodafone fibre home broadband installed in our house about 3 weeks ago. We got it because we expected it would’ve able to work better with more items using the internet than our old vodafone internet (which was so awful). We live in Dublin so connection should be fast. The first day it was installed it worked for about 10 minutes then just lost connection! On the first day?! It came back the next morning though. So for the past 3 weeks it’s been pretty steady but last night it completely lost connection and was flashing red all over the modem. So my opinion it has some benefits: it’s cheap, it loads YouTube videos pretty fast, it reaches through most of the house. Disadvantages: it’s very unreliable, slow for watching movies online, vodafone internet just sucks altogether, it’s extremely frustrating (I would know after having bad internet connection with them for a long time). So all in all I’d say you’re better paying extra to go to a better internet company-not vodafone ever.

Garbage, Absolute Garbage. I come to Egypt once a year on vacation for the summer and I have had other providers before. I only came to Vodafone because they offered a lower rate for supposedly the same service I was getting. If you are looking for an internet provider in the Cairo area I DO NOT recommend Vodafone. My supposed Download speed is supposed to be ~4 Mb/s… however after I ran a multitude of speed tests around my house on both my phone and laptop the max i was ever able to get was ~ 1.9. If that’s not enough to deter you away, let me begin explaining the honorific latency issues you can expect from Vodafone. One minute your latency will be fine the next it will shoot to absurd amounts for absolutely no reason; after I ran tests to see what my ping was to their own servers here in Cairo I got numbers all over from 250 ping-900s. It does this for absolutely no reason at all, the service is completely UNRELIABLY inconstant. I called them to report the problems and I was told they would “look into it” which in massive company terms means “they’re not going to do jack”. There customer service is so poor, that when I called to report that the internet ADSL was not functioning ,and might I add for absolutely no reason at all, I spent about an hour twenty on the phone diagnosing/troubleshooting; The man on the phone told me it was from my end and that was a SERIOUS MATTER because on there end everything was working fine, he also told me that he would get someone to my house to see what is wrong in two-three days, TWO-THREE days for a “SERIOUS MATTER”. The technician did not arrive after the three day mark and when I called them they had no comment and assured me that a technician would be there next day. When he came he went through all the steps I went through with the man on the phone, in the end it turned out to be a fault on there end. What a joke, and absolute joke.

I recently switched provider (a Wireless ISP) because;

1) My service started to get unreliable
2) my local exchange was now fibre enabled

I chose Vodafone because for €35, their fiber broadband product promised good performance and was the best value for Money when compared to other providers ie. Eircom.

Installation & Hardware:
The eircom wholesale engineer installed a new wall outlet with built in microfilter. The socket is located in the hallway which isn’t ideal. Using some plastic conduit and a little paint to conceal it, I ran an extension cable from the socket up into the attic where I placed the Vodafone branded Huawei modem.

Performance:
Vodafone Fiber delivers more than double my old provider’s downstream bandwidth and 15x times more upstream bandwidth. Very consistent day and night. No noticeable issues with congestion.

Reliability: Rock solid. No issues.

Support: No opinion. I’ve not needed any support.

Overall – Vodafone’s Fiber Broadband is a good step ahead of my old provider. As much as I would prefer to support a local ISP, they can’t match the performance and price of Fiber enabled exchanges.

Where do I start.

Vodafone is just bad. I’ve been a customer with them since BT went down several years ago. Since then, I’ve had innumerable problems. I’ve spent more time on their customer service in one year then any consumer should have to in a life time, and at the end of it all, I still have the same problems today I had years ago.

I don’t think the word for Vodafone would be “evil” or “malicious”. Just incompetent. Mind bogglingly incompetent. Customer service is good at sounding nice over the phone but ultimately they don’t do much. Maybe they fix your issue today, but it’ll be back tomorrow.

Because of those issues – the absurdly high latency, no matter what I do – the wildly inconsistent download/upload speeds, and generally just no delivering on any decent standard of service, I would love to see Vodafone simply collapse in the broadband market and have them replaced by people who actually care about their customers enough to improve glaring issues in their services that have been problems for half a decade now. But nope, all that matters is that profit margin.

I don’t think I’ve had as many faulty modem delivered to me by anyone. I had one BT VOYAGER modem that lasted me FIVE YEARS. It had its problems, I wont lie about that. One day, it died, and I had to get a new modem from my good friends at Vodafone. Good friends, hah, that’s funny… Of course, they charged me for it, as is reasonable. Then when that broke 2 weeks later, I got charged for another one. And repeat. I’ve been through 4 modems in half a year, and each time I get charged. Not only is that just horrible, horrible quality, it is also blatant extortion with some obviously designed inbuilt self-obsoletion.

Because of those problems, I really had to make a stretch to give CS 3 stars. Then I realised that the VAST bulk of my problems come from clearly incompetent management which doesn’t have the sense to upgrade its services in an increasingly competitive market.

And competitive the market is, because I will absolutely be changing my ISP as soon as I get a feel for what’s on offer.

4* Rating after being a customer for 6 years.

I was originally with BT in Douglas, Cork and was the first exchange in Cork to have 24Mb DSL. It was outstanding in EVERY way.

Subsequently Vodafone took over and we relocated to Carrigaline. I achieved 8Mb connection speed from 2009-2012 rising to 12Mb in 2013 which was realistic for my distance from the exchange.

I am a heavy internet user. This includes streaming lectures using adobe connect while doing a distance learning course, occasionally working from home delivering online meetings/webinars and streaming TV services such as Apple TV/ Netflix etc. THE PERFORMANCE WAS ALWAYS EXCELLENT, until just recently when it ground to a halt altogether. I was getting 1Mb and couldn’t stream anything.

It was at this point I realized Fibre was now available in Carrigaline. I was upgraded last week. The upgrade process was easy, the engineer (from a contracted company) was excellent and left me some free cable and 2 sockets replace the extension I had run into the front room.
I am now achieving between 35Mb and 65Mb download, and the upload has sky rocketed from 1Mb to 10-15Mb. The new modem they give you seems to be much better than the old ones which were hopeless – I invested in a proper netgear one and had been using that instead.

I dropped one star off my rating because.
– Their DSL modems were terrible
– Their old 40GB limit was poor, we went over it when we got an AppleTV and were charged quite a bit extra. If it weren’t for added competition they wouldn’t have changed.
– They charge you too much for a static IP address, this extra charge should be scrapped.
– They’ve made a few customer service mistakes
– Occasional fluctuations in the connection speeds are frustrating

Overall, I would recommend Vodafone’s home broadband to others.

What an absolute joke this company has become.
I’ve been with Vodafone at my home place ever since they took over from perlico. I moved out and away for a while because of work but left vodafone on my mothers line.
When I returned I went into rented accommodation and I got in UPC fibre. A absolutely great service at a great price. Once again I had to move house and unfortunately UPC was not available in my new residence.
With little options I turned once again to vodafone… But it wasn’t the vodafone I knew.. Not even a shell of its former self.
I have had nothing but issues,…
Lag outs, connection timing out. Download speed drop outs. Head and heart ache from their customer service team. System profile lowering without my request or consent… A abundance of issues.
I was ready to give up on them last July when I heard that they were going to be providing fibre broadband soon.
I called them to find out what they would be offering on the fibre broadband and show my interest.
The customer care team assured me I wouldn’t be disappointed and told me that it was to be available in my area from August. Also if I would like to check its availability I could track it on the ‘eircom fibre rollout map’. With this new information I decided to give them another chance.
During the beginning of August a member of the sales team contacted me to say fibre was coming very soon (she estimated it would be the next week or two) and would I like to sign up for it. I nearly jumped down the phone line to accept. Went through all the formal stuff, ..new 12 month contract
.. Do you agree to such and such
.. Etc..
Very happy with my promised upgrade I waited patiently for the fibre product to become active. I waited right through August… Into September ( at this point I started calling every few weeks to find out what wa going on) .. Then October.. November.. In December I had enough of being fobbed of on the phone and they began claiming that no records showed I was contacted in August. In my temper I said I wanted to cancel my vodafone Internet and immediately I was told ” actually it’s available now..can I sign you up sir?”
Angry with the whole situation I asked ” why is it that now the second I threaten to leave you finally tell me it’s available???” She replied ” I’m sorry sir.. I don’t know why you hadn’t been informed of it before”
I bit my tongue for te sake of an easy life ( big mistake) and said ” OK.. Can you please set me up for if over immediately?”
I went through all the protocols and verbal agreements ( again) and came off the phone somewhat relieved.. Even though they had caused my blood to boil I had finally gotten somewhere… Or so I thought.
I presumed I would get a text informing me of my order and appointment for the engineers to come install my fibre but after a few minutes I began to realise it wasn’t coming.
My patience exhausted I decided to leave it a few days before contacting them to ask why I had not received an appointment..
When I finally did I was informed that I had agreed to a contract BUT.. Fibre wouldn’t be available until Jamurary 8th. I cursed and screamed don’t the phone my outrage at all that had happened since August. My temper only inflared more by the carefree ” I do apologise sir” .
To close my vodafone account I was told I had to go through a process of getting the call pulled and cancelling my contract should I still be in my cooling off period ( of which I was a day outside).
The fight gone from me I just said leave it and concentrated on getting through the holidays.
January 8th came around and I contact them. My modem was posted and a installation date set… Today..

The lad from KN installations came nice and early this morning and set it all up for me then tested the line… 11mb down to 0.75mb up.. Worse than my previous internet speeds. He told me to contact vodafone as it was an issue on their end. I rang them earlier to be told I was still on my old package and she then tried to sign me up for YET another new contract. I had to stop her from rambling on about contract particulars to tell her I ALREADY SIGNED UP FOR THIS CONTRACT TWICE.
I DONT NEED A MODEM SENT OUT.. I ALREADY GOT IT.. I DONT NEED AN ENGINEER APPOINTMENT HE HAS JUST BEEN AND LEFT!
She took a moment.. Came back to me and said.. Our system shows you on the old package this is going to take a few days to rectify.
( Keep in mind that while all this nonsense has been going on I have been onto them countless times.. Dare I say weekly.. about issues with my current internet service.)
So now.. I’m tired.. Worn out.. And I just feel utterly defeated from having to deal with this absolute joke if a company.
If you took the time to read this review the whole way through then take a lesson from it. Avoid any interaction with this provider if at all possible… And if you are currently with them then I suggest you start planning your escape
VODAFONE… ABSOLUTE JOKE

Why do I HATE Vodafone
1. Their change over procedure from my previous ISP resulted in loss
of service for several days when I was promised it would be
seamless.
2. Despite being promised that I would be contacted by letter re the
change over instructions I did not get same and was not told what
router changes were required for Vodafone service.
3. Now I’m losing DSL regularly – have to reboot router
4. Promised 17MBit service – sometimes getting as low as 1.5MBit
5. Do feel that their Tech Support is not too bad BUT their
organisation and inter department communication is deplorable
6. Can’t get ANY response for Customer(couldn’t)Care(Less)
Tried email, snail mail, phone calls re a problem (theirs) where they
have my address wrong and aren’t billing me (or at least taking
their invoiced amounts from my Bank as they are supposed to and
as they had been doing).

Actually – I did get some responses re emails but only to tell me that I had to provide further identification information before they would deal with me – when I was trying to sort out the fact that THEY weren’t being paid! and one phone response where they claimed that a) they could find almost NONE of my e-mails (which ran into double figures) on their ‘system’ and b) that the the printed copies of emails which I posted to them were not received, or could not be found. So, on their request and very reluctantly, I re-printed them and to be sure they received them I handed them in to their offices in Leopardstown. I’ve had no response since then – i.e. since August 2013 and haven’t bothered since. This may seem trivial, but it has been going on since March 2013 and they don’t seemed interested or worried and the amount I owe them is growing.

And Vodafone’s broadband service isn’t the ONLY problem – this isn’t the forum so I won’t even bring up their failure to respond re mobile service issues which has resulted in me changing my service provider, as I will also do re their Broadband service, as soon as possible

Summary: The service is unreliable, the performance is way below par and they have no customer service – RATING ZERO

what a bunch of……no no…let us be nice…. erm…all i can say then is that this corporation enjoys nothing but the pursuit of money, solely and simply put they seek money with an alacrity and a level of avarice that astonishes me. Their nominal notion of customer service can only be described and creating distance such that they can claim deafness when you attempt to seek an explanation on any matter. Do not under any circumstances engage or solicit their services on any product unless you can get them to sign a contract written from the customers perspective first, for their’s is a form of coccoon. This is not a staff ‘issue’ but a corporate policy or strategy one.

The internet service, oh. my. God. It’s horrible, I use to be on UPC, but the billing was too much because we got the broadband + channels and all, but I rather stick with UPC 100%. Vodafone’s internet are just too, too slow, especially in a bad weather, just randomly offs when ever it feels like and you can’t play any videos on youtube without having to pause the video and leave the stream line for an hour. I can barely even play a vine (for those who don’t know what a vine is, it’s a six to seven second video, SIX TO SEVEN SECONDS!!). The customer service is a joke they don’t take you seriously about your problems. If my friend wanted to get their first isp I would never mention Vodafone.

I could go on a huge rant here, but I will just list the main problems I suffered from them. I had 7 months of drop outs, occurring up to 20 times a day, some days no internet connection at all (Which they refuse to refund me for ). Extremely slow speed and they throttle at certain times of the day and night. I had to call technical support twice a week if not more. Amazingly, nobody there knew how to look up a database of previous problems, imagine repeating the same conversation over and over again to multiple people for 7 months about many of the same problems. They sent Eircom to fix the issue 4 times and it was never fixed, ever! Clearly Eircom are just as incompetent as Vodafone. I am still getting drop outs, blank screens and slow connections. I could go on and on but they have worn me out on the matter. Do yourself a favor and avoid Vodafone and their nasty business tactics like the plague. The worst ISP I have ever dealt with!!
