The bad:
It’s a pretty bad service, we constantly get drops, it not only slows down but completely disconnects. I come home from work at 3am sometimes and get slow speeds (3-4 mbs/8…. And I live in Dublin just a few minutes away from the nearest exchange). The Vodafone technicians are unfortunately completely useless. And will constantly blame faults on either yourself or eircoms lines; how much money would I be willing to bet that these problems would stop if I switched my service to UPC/Eircom – a lot. Like many other people on here I’m quite technologically literate and am doing a computer course in DCU. Everything on my end is set up properly, an Eircom engineer checked the lines. Neighbours on Vodafone/UPC say they have no connectivity issues either.
Dont even get me started on their website, it’s perhaps the most banjaxed piece of shit I’ve ever experienced. Error messages and broken links just aren’t fixed. It’s nearly impossible to get an email address for them.
Pluses: The Phone works grand.

Dont do it three years and promises of 4mb broadband that never happened is all you will get from these people. They will ask their support to call you but at all costs they will never come out to your premises to fix your problem, I had broadband speeds of .78mb. If you sign up to a mobile contract and offer you a discount internet package dont listen as it will never materialise and they will deny any offer. They are unscrupulous and dishonest. Further more I had an 18 month mobile contract with them and even though I didnt cancel my contract till after the 18 month period they now want to charge me a penalty for beaking my contract, then the normal overated monthly bill and then a penalty portal change charge. When you call them and tell them that this is unreasonable they say take it up with our legal people we are not interested. Dont go with these people!!!

Having skimmed through the recent reviews of Vodafones Broadband service, was I not already a customer I would be extremely reluctant to sign up.
However, as I am a customer, and have been for a year now, I have had no real issues like I’m seeing here, no drop off, no down time per se and absolutely no major drops in connection speeds apart form the usual peak times and even then, not really noticeable.
Here is a Speedtest from ” http://www.speedtest.net/result/1873645281.png ” from 20:07 today, 03-Apr-12.
I live in Roscrea, Tipperary and I was with Eircom on their 8Mb uncongested of which if I got half I was doing good. Signed up to Vodafone 24Mb and when I got the letter in saying I was now on their service, I followed the instructions to change my Eircom router settings to the Vodafone setting and immediately my speed jumped to approx 17Mb constantly, and once I got a Speedtest rating of over 23MB, granted that lasted about a minute, but still…
I guess what I’m saying is that while I was still using the Eircom line and router my speed pretty much quadrupled and my bill dropped by about 30%. The service has been reliable since and as I work from home doing PC repair and what not, this is invaluable. I was also ale to view a complete internet, not the censored version Eircom is supporting, ie torrent sites, (not that I ever use them, but it’s still nice to be able to should I want to.)
I have also been offered a 12 month Xbox Live Gold Membership and to date 2 mobile phone as an added incentive, all in 12 months. Got offered the 1st phone about 6 weeks after joining, the 2nd one last month to extend my contract and the Xbox Membership at Christmas. Was with Eircom for years and got offered nothing!!
Well that’s my 2 cents on it.
Oh, and I DO NOT work for Vodafone in anyway, shape or form, just in case you may be inclined to think I do.
Review by Mike Malone, January 28, 2012
I have just completed an evaluation of mobile broadband for a client in the Dublin 17 area using 3, O2 and Vodafone. See 3 and O2 for my summary of their respective offerings.
The Vodafone modem, labelled Vodafone K4605, was not supported by any of the mobile broadband routers available to me and so the evaluation could not proceed.
Internet checks also suggest that Vodafone block VoIP traffic which would make them unsuitable for any of my clients as this would preclude or hamper current or future development.
I have not given any star rating for any of the categories because the trials of Vodafone could not be conducted.

Been with Vodafone for nearly 2 years now. The first year was grand not a bother with them. Since last August my connection has been desperate!! Phone call after phone call…new router….filters on the lines…you name it, I done it. My speed keeps dropping to below 1mb. I should be getting 3mb. Today I contacted them about it as Im tired of their unprofessional help and they decided to update my software on my router and ended up breaking the thing!!!! So now they are sending out a new router and I’m currently using my old one. They told me today that there was a fault on the line too…later I rang back and they told me there was no fault!! We had an engineer from Eircom out too and they told me that the line was perfect, yet vodafone still saw a fault and claimed it was the engineers equipment that was faulty! Oh and the manner of some of the Technical Support is absolutely disgusting too! My advice to anyone reading this is stay well clear of Vodafone!!! They don’t mind taking your money….they don’t like helping your problem.
Review by Mickelodian, January 17, 2012
Been with vodafone since I was sold off like a product myself two years ago… by BT who seem to think with Vodafone that the data protection act is voluntary or something…
Anyway that aside I’ve had no major problems with the exception of one time when they lowered our package to another lower one they didn’t even sell… a phone call sorted that out without any fuss.
Sometimes the speed does lower…at peek times (they say its uncontested, but as an IT professional I can tel you that there is no such thing as uncontested and internet congestion is the order of the day worldwide at certain times )
Anyway the long and short of it is you get what you pay for… and in Ireland 8mb seems to be the average for fixed line at the moment.
Maybe in fairness someone should get the carriers to revise that idea since a ot of us use a LOT of bandwidth and some of us use none at all…
Either way my cap is 300 Gb a month and I’d be pretty lucky if I ever actually used over 150 Gb of that….and we have four machines and teenagers in the house using laptops and phones (WiFi) and all sorts of things… in fact we don’t even bother with TV any more and use a media pc on the TV again using up more bandwidth…even that doesn’t put a dent in out 300 gb a month!
it costs about 50 odd euro a month… (well 45 but my partner goes through the 30 minutes of free mobile calls in 30 minutes each month and then some)
Either way… I might be lucky or something but I have no complaints… regular service to a long standing customer with really good support would be my feelings on the matter…
I’ve thought a fair bit about my ratings… it comes from someone that understands the ins and outs of IP and I’d consider it a ‘conservative’ but realistic appraisal.

I must respond to the Vodafone staff review below. I had BT internet, which did exactly what it said on the tin – good service. Takeover by Vodafone, a letter telling us that we were being upgraded to 8Mb ‘uncongested’ broadband and we no longer had internet worth talking about. A 1999 56k modem would have left our ‘broadband’ standing. As with other reviews here, Vodafone staff tried to say that it was something wrong with our line . . . . . It took us two months to cancel our home phone and go mobile with everything. EMobile broadband at €19.99 a month was way way way better.

I would definitely NOT recommend vodafone broadband. We pay €60 per month and the service is so bad, constantly dropping service. If I try to use the internet in my room on the second floor, it won’t work, I have to move down to the sitting room where the router is. Cannot wait till contract is up and we can switch. My rating overall is zero!!

I swapped to Vodafone about 3 weeks ago. I’m based in Tipperary and the phone is working fine but the broadband has been a nightmare. I got a text last week saying the broadband was gone through but now it has been down for over 4 days and I’ve contacted them 3 days in a row. I work in IT and I work from home as well and its proving to be a disaster as I can’t complete work and I can’t get the problem fixed. Should never have changed. I’ve changed all the settings they have asked and logged a problem but usual rubbish an engineer has to take a look at it.
Review by Vodafail, December 16, 2011
We were with ESAT BT for years, always had a great connection that was always up. As soon as Vodafail took over it all went to shit. If and when the connection works the speeds are ok, but it simply never happens. You never know if you will have internet when you go to use it, IF it is connected you may have a connection like this http://speedtest.net/result/1645508715.png this is pretty much the normal.
Like others here I have been through all the “troubleshooting” with them, unplug my skybox, move my router connection point, try another router, replaced my dsl filters, restart my router and so on. If I can sometimes have a 5mb connection for a week uninterrupted then suddenly no connection or >1mb the problem does not lie on my end as nothing changes in my setup .Can’t wait to get off Vodafone avoid them at all costs. Sort yourself out Vodafone your losing customers by the boat load.

Extremely poor service. Constant drop in speed. Router provided is terrible. When provided I informed Vodafone that it was broken (could not update firmware, blacklist MAC addresses, change my WiFI information or turn it off, could not open up ports on the router.) and I was simply told they could do nothing about it and that my only option was to buy a new router (€40). ******* ridiculous! As well as that their website has been broken for months since they decided to update. If you’d like to contact Vodafone you can’t as their contact form is broken, their logon services go down once a week, a majority of the services on their website has never worked. I you try by phone your either told that their having technical difficulties or your stuck on the phone to a ******* machine for an hour & a half. And considering I pay €50-€70 a month for a ****** broadband & phone service (Phone+Broadband+Broadband Limit +30GBX2+AV) and that when their is a fault with my line that I have to pay up to €100 to get it fixed even though it’s a problem with another ISP makes it ******* ridiculous!

Wen customers are better engineers, than Vodafone technicians, they breaking contract…
Had lived in poor network coverage area…fitted external aerial, got perfect broadband ….and letter from provider….

Jay Dog, you work for vodafone. I have 2 question for you. We know that people get sick from time to time, they go to doctors and get well. Now, we should be in good healt, and not having to go to doctors every day/week/month. The question is: would you like to be sick as many times as this 89 people wrote they had problems with “vodafone”? would you consider that NORMAL?

I signed for unlimited usage for 18 moths. The first 10GB of the usage were smoothly and with good connection. But once the 10GB were used (that was in 2 days and half, as the house had 2 computers) then the rest of the month (28 days) we were stuck with a very slow internet. Was horrible. thanks though that they called us and cancelled us the contract in the 12th month because of excessive usage (they said) and that was 40-45 GB a month.Although the contract was signed under Unlimited Usage, I could not been happier when I received that call, as we could go and tried to find a better supplier.
Review by Jay Dog, November 8, 2011
I work for Vodafone. I have read some of the reviews here. I would say 90% of them are line faults or internal issues.
If you are experiencing constant drops, there could be something connected on your telephone line that is causing the drops, for example, a faulty fax. Remember every telephone socket in use needs to have a DSL filter on a broadband telephone line. And yes, devices do degrade. If I had a penny for every time I heard ‘It worked fine with eircom’ I would be a millionaire.
I have worked in Technical Support for over 4 years and I have heard it all. There is a solution to every problem. Whatever you are experiencing, it has happened to someone else before you and there is a fix for it. Sometimes the tech agent cannot diagnose what the issue is and when that happens it’s something internal at your premises that is causing the issue like a faulty modem, faulty DSL cable, faulty phone socket, sky box unfiltered, monitored alarm unfiltered, faulty extension cable, faulty fax.
DSL broadband is based on copper wire technology which can break like anything else. If your telephone is noisy, chances are there is a problem with your broadband too.
Broadband speeds are determined by how far you are away from your local telephone exchange. As your telephone cable is connected to the local exchange, your broadband also comes thru that telephone cable. The further you are away from the telephone exchange the weaker the signal becomes and the slower the speed is going to be. It’s simple physics. The closer you are to the exchange the higher speeds you will get. If you are right beside the exchange, your line will handle up to 24mb. There’s that phrase ‘up to’. It’s very important. My line can handle up to 10mb but I’m on an 8mb profile and my speeds are about 7.5mb download. That means I’m pretty close to the exchange and I’m paying for an up to 8mb package and the dowload speeds of 7.5mb is correct as I will never get 8mb speeds on an 8mb package as it’s not technically possible.
I could go on but I hope some of this sinks in if you have stumbled here and want to rant about how bad your service is.
Oh one more thing. If an agent thinks the problem might be one thing and when you ring in next time a different agent thinks it might be something else, that’s called troubleshooting. It doesn’t mean they are both wrong or both right. It means they are coming to a conclusion based on the information they have.
Remember troubleshooting is like Sherlock Holmes trying to find a killer. When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.

Desparate slow. Switched from Eircom and regret it big time. Like others have said, its so bad i’d say dial up is quicker. Takes forever to load photos online, constantly dropping service and can no longer watch tv online. Avoid, avoid avoid
Review by Ragequit, October 3, 2011
Constant line drops, every night at 8pm, 1am, and 5am there is absolutely no service and router has to then be unplugged. Tech support is a complete joke, I’m a firm believer none of them even graduated school. Customer care, you can’t talk to them because it is literally them interrupting you every time you try to speak. It then turns into a scream match to see who can get over who. So forget actually being heard.
Also, as the above comments mentioned. When talking to tech support they say the same bull shit, but a different story every time. I have only been with them a month, and wish I would have found this site sooner. Only after this disaster did I find this. We are on router #3 …. OH! I didn’t mention now they want us to unplug all of our phones. Hmm…phones never gave us problems with Eircom. Didn’t have any random drops with Eircom and it’s a fairly new line Eircom put in roughly a year ago…but yet Vodafone changed us from 3, to 5, back up to 8 but we are lucky to see between 3-5 on an 8 line. It was far worse on the other packages.

Switched from UTV to Vodafone performance pro as the cost was 19.99 per month for up to 22MB and 15GB sounded like a great deal but like all things that sound to good to be true, it was.
1. The first 2 months I wasn’t on any tariff and my bill was €300 to €400 a month it was nearly 4 months before it was sorted, but because my bill was unpaid they throttled back my speed to about .5MB.
2. Could not use VoIP or peer to peer as Vodafone had blocked these even though when I was inquiring about the service before I bought it I was told this was all included. I had to pay another €19.99 a month for access to this service.
3. I am lucky enough to be in their 22MB mobile broadband area knowing that I wouldn’t get the full speed I asked what should I expect to get from their sales guy and I was told I would receive 14MB no problem. I have NEVER received 22MB or even 14MB. The highest I have received is 11MB that was on the first couple of weeks after sorting out my bill. Today I am Paying for 22MB +VoIP but only receiving 3MB. I will never deal with Vodafone again and I would recommend that you don’t either. I am currently looking to change to Nova or East Cork Broadband as soon as my contract is up. If I could give them 0 I would.

I was a Perlico customer prior to Vodafone takeover.I now have constant problems with DSL dropping out .Usually ok at nightime.Frequent calls to Vodafone has not helped and I will be forced to change provider. They have tried to blame the line but eircom say no problem.I have reset and changed the router without any luck. They have tried to blame the house wiring but it is a relatively new house. They reported the problem to Eircom as a dial up problem and not as a broadband problem.I wonder why.A good deal cost-wise but no deal as not constant service.I have tried everything such as disconnecting landline phones, changing connection points, filters etc and all to no use.

Review by Pavel, August 26, 2011
An absolute disaster, most ignorant customer service I’ve ever encountered. Applied for a 24Mb service, line was checked and ok to go. Got a modem , installed and for a start I was getting around 6-8Mbps. After a month I contacted support, but they advised , that the line I currently have cannot support more than 10Mbps, and this after all the checks. I’ve been told that the line will be changed over in near future and after that I will get the product I’ve been paying for. But after that I’ve started experiencing disconnects, could’ve been every hour. I contacted support and the saga started. I ve been asked if I am using the filter, as it is a must, I replied yes, than after exchanging few e-mails was told to try without the filter although it was a no no according to the previous correspondence. After about 15 e-mails, I was simply passed to the next customer service advisor and it started all over again. I requested the credit for the time I was overcharged, as the product supplied wasn’t matching the product requested and I’ve been promised that my account would be credited after the issue sorted. The issue was never sorted. It lasted nearly three months, until I had enough and stopped the payment. Pity there is no minus ratings and no legal instrument against such a company with such indespeakable levels of service.

Vodafone ‘service’ is a nightmare. Avoid at all cost!
I’ve a problem for almost two months of the modem re-syncing somewhere between 50-100 times a day and dropping the line. My phone line drops too but not as often. This is only the latest in a series of problems.
Support is terrible, I’ve done the same tests every time I ring which is almost daily now. There is no continuity, every time it’s a new call with the same questions and tests, they refuse to escalate the problem despite its persisting for almost two months. This after saying they had escalated the problem and they would ring me within 24hours (they didn’t). The main objective seems to be to get you off the line and once you hang end of problem for them. they never follow up or ring you back.
- I’ve been told that its a problem with the modem (they supply) but the problem persisted with 2 other modems.
-They dropped my line speed, no change.
-I’ve been told its an exchange fault but it worked fine on the same exchange with eircom.
-Was told it was a fault on the line, eircom engineers came out and said it was fine. I’ve been told its a fault on the line again that eircom failed to fix.
When the service is on the speed is good and my line quality is very high with little noise etc. but there is no fix -or desire to find a fix- in sight.
At this point the only solution is to break my contract as I don’t believe that vodafone are capable of supplying the service.
Review by Tony Baloney, August 8, 2011
I had the mobile dongle and subscribed to the “Unlimited” plan. I recently began using their Sharing Dock so I could use the same connection around the house. I pay c.€30 per month for this broadband and I also have 2 phone lines on the same account. I tried using SKYPE and I also need access for P2P for Gaming and the like and neither worked. When I queried this with Vodafone they said I had to pay an additional €20 to use these functions. Bearing n min I am now already paying these clowns over €100 per month on subscription charges I thought this was extortion. I pointed out to them that I am currently subscribed to their “unlimited” broadband package and what they are actually doing is filtering certain types of traffic and as such it is not unlimited but is indeed restricted and there was also no mention of these filters on the network in any of the contract documentation (Surprise).
My contract on all 3 services is up this month so I will either get the filters off or move to another provider.
Other than the restricted service, once the settings are set up to 3G only it is not such a bad service, if you set it to 3G preffered it often reverts to GPRS which as we all know is crap!
Review by Brian, July 29, 2011
With BT and then Vodafone. Absolutely brilliant service until last April around when my local exchange was due to go NGB enabled.
Now, my router looses connection and needs to do a resync, averaging once every three mins, all day, every day for almost four months. Customer service techs recognise a problem but cant find the source so shrugged their shoulders.
Waiting to move provider now, never to return.

VODAFONE IS AWFUL! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Nightly outages, not getting anywhere near the speed we pay for! Paying for 8mb/s and receiving 0.2mb/s most of the time!
Oh and yet again vodafone you have an outage right now! I have to use the 3G internet on my phone which isn’t with vodafone because my broadband is yet again down and has been for 24 hours. And what surprise customer care don’t care!
And as for that person who said that they were unfair reviews from people who don’t know how to use broadband it isn’t!
We even unplugged our sky box from the phone line when vodafone suggested we do so! It didn’t make a difference!!!!
He was most lightly a vodafone employee.
Contract is up with vodafone in 2 months and can’t wait to switch! Counting down the days!
Comreg can’t do anything because they sneakily put in the terms and conditions that you pay for UP TO 8mb/s and not 8mb/s itself which it says in the ad. And they also say they can suspend service whenever they need to! Wish I could give them 0 stars!
Review by Mihai Burghelea, June 12, 2011
Hmm, how many stars to give to this Vodafone connection I have in Dublin…
You see, I’m Romanian, coming from Bucharest. There the worst connection you can get is ADSL2 at 24mbps. But that’s only if you can’t get anything else, like if you’re in a small village. If you’re in any city, the worst you can get is internet by CATV at 35mbps with no download limit for less than 10eur/mo, all CATV operators also offer internet. But if you’re in a major city, then you have FTTB (fiber to the building), 10eur/mo, no download limit, no traffic shaping, no strings attached. The link comes as a regular UTP (Ethernet) cable, no modem, pure 100mbps directly to your computer. If it’s not enough, you can bridge several, 10eur/mo each.
Ah, and this service comes with a complimentary 3G stick for when you’re out in the park. Is really like that, 10eur brings you 100mbps at home plus 7.2mbps mobile.
So how many stars to give to this bloody Vodafone service I have here in Dublin? Well, no stars is too much.
Review by DP, June 3, 2011
Terrible Speeds – Never achieve what is advertised.
BT were good and the whole thing went South when Vodafone took over business?
Why?
As indicated earlier , comreg is only way to resolve issues otherwise you will only end up in a maze
of hassle.

Don’t get me started on Vodafone. It is probably the worst internet company in Ireland. I pay for 8mb broadband however at most I only receive 0.19mbs. For around 2 hours every night vodafone has an outage. If you’re with vodafone you can forget about streaming youtube videos or even going on skype. You will find yourself screaming at your router. I can’t wait till my contract is up! I’ll be changing the day my contract finishes!

Vodafone Broadband is absolutely rubbish. I never had a problem wit BT Esat.
My VF landline broadband would go down from 5 minutes to 1.5 hrs nearly every night.
Rang 1907 for assistance – After all the numbers pressing, sometimes you finally get to talk to a so-called Technical ‘Useless’ Support Person. At the start of the call, you have to give them your landline No. Several times while talking to a really ‘Useless’ Support Person, you would get cut off.
They will never ring you back. One told me that my modem was more than 2 metres from the Phone Jack and my DSL goes down because of interfence; so I moved my modem besides the phone jack but I was still having the same problem. Another told me my Sky connection was affecting my broadband.
My contract is up in 2 months time and I can’t wait to move to another ISP.

I was originally with BT until they sold their home broadband service to Vodafone. My experience with BT was very good. 1 drop in connection in 3 years.
Soon after being transferred from BT mb to Vodafone 8mb line, I decided to bump up my package to the “Up to 24mb” package. I knew I would only get around 14mb but that was ok. Ever since the transfer from BT (regardless of what speed I was getting), there were constant Interruptions to the broadband service, i.e. no internet for 10 minutes or more happening around 5 or 6 times for day. Sometimes the interruption would last up to an hour.
As part of my upgrade above, I was entitled to a free wireless modem. I had to ring them 3 times to actually get it. And when it finally arrived, I was charged for it. And no, it wasn’t refunded in the next bill like they promised. Or the next bill, or the one after that.
Then, as part of their internal upgrade, they reduced my speed to 1mb without any notification. Again, I had to ring them as to why my speed had dropped. Technical Support could only get my speed back up to 8mb. I have been trying ever since then (2 months now) to get them to put me back on the “Up to 24mb” speed which is what I have been paying them for all the while.
They do not deserve to hold a license to provide broadband in this country. So many times I have been working from home due to the severe winter weather and my work has been affected because of the constant service interruption. Not weather related, I can assure you. It was no better or worse during that time – just equally as bad.
Comreg are now aware of my situation. I hope they can help me out and others who are in a similar spot. My 12 month contract is up very soon. I am literally counting the days left now until I transfer to a provider who isn’t utterly useless at providing fixed line broadband.
Thanks for reading.

No problems with the Vodafone broadband at all. Unfair reviews on here I’d say. Related to people who don’t have a clue about how broadband works in their homes.
I’ve sorted a lot of peoples problems by putting a filter on their phone line going to a sky box. In my experience this causes 90% of problems because Sky don’t do it for you.

I was a BT customer for years and never EVER had a problem with them. then I was bumped off to Vodafone. Ever since ten I’ve had had nothing but constant disconnects. At least 3 times a day and sometimes for a few hrs. frequent calls to technical support fruitless. I must have the most tested line in the country because every time I’m on its the same rigmarole. “Please reset modem, leave it off an hour, we’ll reset the port in the exchange, we’ll do line tests, we’ll log a fault with our engineers”… blaa blaa blaa. None of this has worked.
I’ve tried new modem/routers, had my internal phone lines tested by an eircom engineer, replaced all my filters, reinstalled my operating system and nearly threw the PC out the window a dozen times. Still no joy.
Anyways When I got up this morning and my conection was down again. So i’ll ring technical support when I get home again. No doubt a waste of time.

Have been using Vodafone 3G for a long time. Obviously with 3G everyone’s mileage varies with coverage, contention etc., but I am lucky enough to be in a rural area with good coverage. Speed has been increasing over the last 12 months, and I now regularly get 5.5 mbps. Recently started using their handy little MiFi, so I can connect wirelessly within the house, instead of plugging in a 3G dongle. Speed drops sometimes (not unexpectedly with a 3G service), but I am using this service as a backup for my “main” provider (Skytel — see my review of them). Thinking of making Vodafone my main provider now that I have given up on ever getting decent VoIP in this broadband backwater that is Ireland. Have never dealt with their customer service, so can’t comment.

Total rubbish. They advertised their 7.2mpbs wireless service with unlimited down/uploads. The MAXIMUM speed I got was 0.04mpbs. They didn’t care, didn’t have a clue and didn’t care if we cancelled the whole thing. They ‘said’ they would pick it up. 1 week later it was still in my possession and they said they’d tried 4 times to pick it up (total lies as I’d been stuck in the whole week). So we had to drop it to their depot ourselves.
Can’t someone sue these jokers?!!

Yet another former BT residential customer that was moved to Vodafone. Don’t even consider it !
We had years of trouble free broadband from BT but ever since Vodafone took it over the service has been either intermittent , non-existent or extremely slow (300k at times).
“Technical” support default answer is to reset modem – losing wireless settings, or suggest it is a line fault (it never has been a line issue).
There are 3 different connection passwords and their support can’t even tell you which one will work to get a connection.
Customer service do not care about customers and will not credit you for lack of service and when I told them they would lose me as a customer they were absolutely fine with that.
I work as an IT consultant to SME’s and would never recommend Vodafone for broadband service based on lack of reliability and poor customer service.

Have been with Vodafone at Home for 5months. Have found it fine really..kinda surprising given some horror stories..! Had problems in the last few weeks with line dropping every few minutes for periods of time. Rang technical support on bank holiday. Got thro’ in a few minutes. They re-configured something and I reset modem and it now seems OK. I couldn’t fault their technical support operators. I would prefer to stick with them rather than going to Eircom seeing that that ‘shower’ have been ripping us off for years.

I’m former Esat – BT customer.
Stay away from VODAFONE!!!!!!!!!! and if you expirienced any problems with your internet – THE ONLY OPTION IS TO SWITCH TO DIFFERENT PROVIDER.
Forget the customer care! There is none – even thought they think they have one there.
When I told them that I’m not happy that my broadband is down for 2 weeks – they told me that it is gonna be fixed within 5 working days, then when I said that I’m not happy with this as I paid by direct debit and and will not get the service I paid for 3 weeks in total – rather than giving me credit on my account, as was their fault – the answer was just: “If you don’t like you can cancel the contract-simple as this”
They know less about networks than any normal average user.(one solution for all-’reset your modem’). Ha Ha Ha!!!!
What a **** Excuse my words
With a such “GREAT” customer service it is a surprise that they are still in Broadband Business today.
May be they are good with mobile phones – but they are crap with providing Broadband. Stay away if possible
All reviews I’ve read are true, Vodavone is just a litle bit better than if you’ll have a Dial In Broadband from Eircom. Probably that is why some people rated it better.
That’s it, realy .

Was very happy with the BT service. Since vodafone took over there have been persistent faults.
Tech support have no inkling of how so solve a fault without computer prompts. They very rarely log your call, so each time you call them it’s back to square one. Service has been dropping continuously for almost 3 months with no solution. They finally offered to get a BT engineer in to solve the problem, apparently he’s very good(unlike there own guys!)
I’ve canceled my account and hope to never deal with them again.
ps. even though BT committed to providing 24M connection at no extra change, vodafone reduced my service to 4M and continued to charge me for 8M

Been with Vodafone @ home since they took over BT. Moved house recently, the new house had a previous broadband connection. I rang Vodafone, providing the previous phone number of the premises, to get Vodafone Broadband transferred from the old house to the new house. The first agent basically told me to f off to Eircom, that Vodafone is not able to activate the line by themselves. So I reluctantly called Eircom, and had the line activated, with a new number -which, as it turns out, means entering a contract with Eircom.
Have been ringing and emailing Vodafone for 5 weeks ever since, trying to get the broadband activated. Pretty much every phone agent told me that they ‘will look into it’, and did nothing – whenever I called, none of the previous calls were documented. Agents were not even aware of the order to cancel the old line. Several agents promised call backs and emails, none of them followed through. Not a single agent was friendly on the phone, each one was bored and reluctant to do anything at all. At this stage I’ve pretty much given up, and am looking hard for a better ISP…

Wouldn’t touch Vodephone wouldn’t touch that with a bargepole. At one time the Blog from Dundalk Called ‘Dermot Ahern mention how staff at Vodaphone were passing infromation about customers etc.
Vodafone Ireland has its main Irish call centre based in Dundalk, employing in the region of 200 people. Most if not all those working there have access to all customer details from their phone records. For years now it is the talk of the town who is ringing who and who is texting who. Many employees discuss vodafone customer details on the outside and this can be very dangerous in a town like Dundalk. What is there stopping Vodafone employees discussing phone records with serious criminals or terrorists. Very little background checks are done on those working in Vodafone.

They told me it was due to peak demand and sent me some info on their upgrading a facility in Sligo!!!! I NEVER htought I would be looking to Eircom as a saviour but it seems to be my only hope of saving my sanity!! oh and as for the peak time, the system fails anytime night or day. tried this morning at 1.30am when I got back from work ..it failed, was on it at 12.30pm today and it failed, anything from 1 minute to several hours! even as I write this the link has failed!! As far as I am concerned Vodafone = FAIL. Stay far away!!

only reason i am giving them 1 star is i fear 0 stars will not be recorded
I was switched from bt to vodafone a few months ago
initially there was no problem…
bt was great.. in 2 and a half years I never even had the smallest grievance.
The problem started with vodafone at the start of this month with a few disconnections… nothing 2 bad
Over the past 2 weeks my internet is constantly down
the technical support is terrible… they all have the exact same solution that “will work this time”
today i rang them up and decided to speak with customer care… and maybe try and get a vodafone router instead of my bt voyager.
The rep was having none of it, kept cutting in to direct me to technical support
eventually i just couldn’t get the sentence out and accepted to be put through to tech support
while there i was asked to buy new micro filters… this will not work, i know for a fact it will not work
but I am going to buy them anyway… after i try them.. i will be ringing vodafone to cancel my account.
I will also be contacting comreg and attempt to get reimbursed for the month of may

Yet another former BT customer. some of the same problems as other posters. The tech support are fighting it out with the guys from ntl as the worse gobs#its on the plannet. In 3 years with BT i had to call them 2 times, since being forced to join vodafone I`ve spent more time on hold, waiting around for call-backs that never happen. I called one tech support person and she sounded like she was asleep, mind another one blocked me out of my modem over the bank-holiday weekend last….no service for days. Got the same speel about eircom owning all the lines and thats the reason its so dear and sloooow. When BT had the account the afterhours tech support was with bangoloor but at least they knew their stuff. The extreem ” more than words” hold music is now a triger to beat someone up if i hear it on the street, I`m holding out for NTL to roll out fiber power and I`d never thought i`d long for that shower. I think there customer service is the worst ever and would advise to stay away!!!
Review by Seamus, April 14, 2010
First off I found that I couldn’t connect wirelessly. I tried several computers around the house, one would connect, the rest would drop the connection after a couple of seconds. I then tried through a wired connection and found that each computer would pick up the modem but would not connect connect to the internet. I press the reset button and it doesn’t reset. The one laptop that does connect gets an average speed of 1.8Mb/s and I’m paying for 7Mb/s. I call customer support and they tell me everything that I’ve already tried. The connection problems surprised them but they gave me a long list of things to do to solve my speed (including deleting my cache and cookies), none which worked. They told me to take several speed test s over the course of the day and call them back. From the speed tests I learned that my old 3Mb/s Eircom broadband ran faster.
Vodafone Broadband is the worst I have experienced and I hope to get out of my 12 month contract with them since they are failing to provide any service.

This “service” from a well known Telecoms brand name is a sham. Their download speed – nominally 3mgs – never matches a fraction of that and I can see the local exchange! Their Customer Support is a joke: won’t acknowledge written and documented broadband complaints; customer service rep’s blame Eircom exchanges for THEIR broadband speed problems and never return calls. You might get it (bundles and broadband) cheaply but you will pay by the wasted hours sitting waiting for items to download – if at all. The Minister and ComReg need to do some serious investigating of ISP providers (such as these) who do not provide what they advertise. Go elsewhere until they meet their contractual arrangements with their existing customers. These Vodafone customers will be disappearing fast – at the very earliest opportunity!!!
Review by joe bryan, April 4, 2010

Simply dreadful. I was an extremely happy BT Ireland until I switched over to the Vodafone Ireland home broadband 7MB package. Their DHCP policy is a joke, causing daily outages. Their support department should be called “Customer Don’t Care”.
Worst of all is the performance of their package. I might as well have 56KBPS dialup at times. Sites with image content randomly timeout or fail to load completely. I had to scream blue murder to get to talk to an engineer because Customer Don’t Care couldn’t/wouldn’t escalate the call. The engineer analysed network captures I provided and admitted he could see timeouts. That was a week ago and nothing has happened.
You can see on forums that I am far from unique. There is a major problem with the Vodafone Ireland network. They either cannot see it or won’t confess to it.
Forget call Customer Don’t Care. Oh – that supervisor will never call you back. I got an agent to admit that supervisors pick and choose which call backs to make.
The number you need is 01 8049600. That’s COMREG. With a COMREG complaint reference number you can actually get to speak to someone other than Customer Don’t Care. It’s legally mandated. And then you can get COMREG to transition you to another ISP with no outage whether you are in a contract with VI or not.

Very little good to say about this crowd. I am in an area that is supposed to get the super duper 24 mbits/sec, however I rarely get more than 3.5. Of course their customer support blames the lines connecting my house to the main line or whatever blah blah. They also blame this for the connection dropping 3-4 times a day. Can’t wait til my contract is up to change to something (hopefully) better.

At this stage I have given up on Vodafone altogether. Connection issues described above were ok for a few days then it all went pete tong again. At this stage I have given up on Vodafone. I have been using my neighbours Eircom BB connection for 2 weeks now.
The real pisser is I have signed up to Eircom to move my account back and so far its a *****.
Firstly the form on their website id the wrong one. So filled in a second.
Got a call from their win back team to confirm details which I duly did. Then I had to get transferred to a 3rd party to verify that I wanted to change back to Eircom. This is a fter filling in 2 different forms and confirming all my details in a recorded phone call.
Third party verifier had the wrong number and refused to proceed untill he had the right details. I was then transferred back to Eircom and placed on hold ’cause all operators were busy. SO I hung up. SO at this moment in time I have no idea what is happening!!
I think a lot of it is the regulators fault. It is so anti consumer & shit that it has to be a government appointed floozie running it.

I had a month of dropped conections, slow page responses and could not access any page that required a secure connection. So no GMail, Hotmail. I couldn’t even access the VF website for support:-{
3 phone calls and a message via the website (accessed from my neighbours bb acccount). Needed to change from the ESAT servers to sort out the dropped connections and a change of DNS addresses to sort out the access issues.
Seems ok for the last 48 hours but I am not fully convinced yet.
Staff are sound to deal with, cant fault them at all. Pi55ed off with ESATBT though. They took my money for 3-4 years then just washed their hands of their customers.
