What can I say when we first join wbb we opted for the 3mb pack and said we could work for there…we can simultaneously stream Netflix and have people working away on countless devices never had any problems brilliant company altogether

I’ve been with Wicklow Broadband for over 5 years now. At the beginning, the speeds were the best available in Wicklow, but this has not changed over the years, and now, in Jan 2015, I am paying €59.99 per month for an (at best) 7Mbit download service – this is no longer comptetitive, in comparison to competing service providers.

Nikki, the business owner, has made one promise after another to increase speeds, but this has not materialised.

On moving to Wicklow about 8 months ago Wicklow Broadband was recommended by several neighbours. We opted for the 10mb service as we work from home a lot.

Any concerns we had about consistency or the the stability of the service in bad weather are long gone. We consistently get 9mb+ download and 1.2mb+ upload, so from receiving and sending large files, to video conferencing, to watching sky+, the broadband is stable and reliable.

Its also a massive plus that you can get through to support pretty much instantly. We highly recommend them

I have been a Wicklow Broadband customer for 7 years. The service has greatly improved over the years, and is now second to none. The speed is very good and the service itself is very reliable. There is rarely a problem with the service, and if there is, it is rectified promptly. For example, after the storms this week, I had no service today for the first time in over a year. I discovered this at 4pm (Saturday), and rang Nicky. The service was back within the hour. Thanks, Nicky for the quick response. I would highly recommend Wicklow Broadband to anyone.

Very happy with the service, speeds are good 24/7 and latency is ok even for online gaming. Occasionally had downtime (better than 99% uptime) and tech support has sometimes been hard to contact during those periods, otherwise it has been very good.

I don’t work for WBB nor am I in any way connected with WWB nor it’s owners nor employees.
I live in the Redcross area and other than WBB or a satellite connection I have little choice in how I get an internet connection.
I have been with WBB for several years and have been through some downs but mainly ups!
My own honest experience is that over the past 18 to 24 months the service has been very stable and I have had no noticeable downtimes (I mainly use this connection in the evening). I am getting close to the advertised download (7 MB) and I nearly always exceed the upload by 40 to 50 percent (1.5 MB). I am happy with the value and as I said the reliability has not been an issue.
To make this review any way useful I shouldn’t let the ‘elephant in the room’ pass without comment. So here goes … I would (almost) never call the Help Desk!! Although the people are always polite when I do I invariably hang up without either a resolution nor confidence that my issue will travel any further unless I bring it to the next level!! Now as I said the service has been fairly stable for a while so I have no need to call but when I do ….
So in summary if you are outside the Eircom, NTL etc. service area then I can confidently say you won’t find better than WBB!!

I dont know how to rate wicklow broadband, on one hand the broadband works well but the customer service is so appalling it is hard to stick with them. If you call them and you are unlucky enough to get anyone other than Nicky… Well its never pretty. Their billing system is a MESS and they constantly forget to even send my bill and then they cut me off which is a rigamarole to get back on.
I got an email from them yesterday with this – REMINDER / PLEASE PAYMENT TO UNBLOCK YOUR CONNECTION, THANK YOU .
No sign off, no thank you, i realised again I had been cut off without warning. As I was working I couldnt call them and so have no internet at home today. Its so strange because Nicky himself is brilliant at after sales but he doesnt seem to need to pass that on to his staff. The girls on the phone are arrogant and seem to take it personally when you call up with a problem, saying things like “well its not my fault” when you have a problem. INFURIATING. To be honest the staff there seem to see customers as the enemy instead of the very reason they have employment.

Sometimes I feel as though WBb are actively trying to get me to switch providers although I know that cannot be true! They never respond to emails, are awful on the phone and once when I threatened to leave them the response was “we have no problem with that”. Agh!! I have no facility for regular broadband and the set up fees for other companies are putting me off switching right now AND perhaps its also better the devil you know. I hope Nicky will sort out his CUstomer care because its a great service if uou could just get some respect from them. Ive to ring them today, hopefully they will answer the phones and not be too antagonistic if they do! Fingers crossed.

I mistakenly ended up on this web site because I was looking for WBB, clicked the wrong search item and saw Darrens review (two or three reviews below this). Darren is a “Trinity english lecturer” but seems to have a problem with arithmetic. He claims that the company is scamming customers “Most of the names on top of each review link back to the Wicklow broadband website anyway, others don’t link anywhere and are scams” out of interest I checked out the claim. 18/90 reviews had links, 2 returned server not found and one was from WBB, the remainder linked to websites, all businesses apart from a 1 personal yahoo and 1 personal eircom account. Actually found a really nice B+B called Kilranelagh, so it wasn’t a complete waste of my time.
I am a WBB customer since 2008 and find the service excellent. In the early days we had lots of problems and interacted with Nicky a lot, I always got the impression back then it was a bit of a three man band, so the reason so many people mention Nicky is because he was owner, installer, troubleshooter and driver for his staff.
I can appreciate being frustrated with a service but I do think its wrong to publish stuff like that, 1/18 could never be interpreted by any reasonable person as “most of the names……link back to Wicklow broadband”

Ive been with wicklow broadband for 4 months now and i would not recomend them.When i got it installed i ran a speed test to see how good it was ping was 20 download was 8.9 and upload was 2.1 brilliant i said.Then i noticed a problem in the first week when i download a programme i was only getting around 400 kbps which is around 3MB download some times this drops to 250kbps then it jumps up to 600kbps back down to 300kbps there speed is all over the place im supposed to get around 1000kbps when downloading.(use firefox it shows your actual download speed in brackets). ive rang customer service several times but no one has answered ive left messages on their answering machine no one got back to me ive also sent emails it took 3 months before i got a reply i got two emails the same day saying there going to check it out and still havent heard a word from then.When i was with vodafone broadband i was getting 2.7 download which is 320kbps transfer rate and thats exactly what i got 24/7.Any isp company that has no customer service are just not worth it.

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL.

Awful service. Been with them for 4 years (No other option unfortunately). I rang to inquire about something simple (took about 5 tries to get them to pick up), and I was told to email them the inquiry instead. I’ve sent them 4 emails now over the space of 3 months and I’ve gotten no reply. I tried to ring their numbers (all of them), for the last 3 days and they rang out each time. It’s impossible to get in contact with this crowd. Useless.

On average about 1 day out of the week the internet completely stops, and this can last up to two days. So, very unreliable especially for college students and school students who need it for research. I manage some web hosting services and due to the unstable connection, I have to connect my iPhone to my computer, and use it’s slower internet (but more stable), to transfer files from my computer to the FTP server. That proves how bad it is.

The power line adapters they gave us broke (All 3 of them) after about 5 months. Nothing to do with me, just one day it would not light up. Couldn’t get in contact so I had to buy 3 more for 130 euro! The router they gave us also stopped working, so I had to buy a new one also.

Overall, they do not provide an adequate service. Perhaps the unstable connection is because of my area, but they should at least have the courtesy to answer the phone and reply to emails, and also give out quality hardware that will last more than 5-6 months. If at all possible, do not go for these people. Go for anything else. Trust me.

I have been involved in the telecommunications sector for over 30 yrs as employee, manager and now self employment so I have experienced the introduction and development of dsl. I was more than dissatisfied with by dsl line package and subsequently contacted Wickow Broadand re broadband package.I stated my requirements re sip, streaming and remote access and was assured that there product would do all that I required. This was entirely true,once the package was installed I can now access streaming content use sip (phone), and remote access to customers. Given the fact that there are numerous devices online at any one time with no evident contention lag or buffering I can only commend the quality and service of this package.
I did at one stage notice a slight decrease in quality which required a software update, from report to resolution took one hour. Who can quibble with service like that.

switched to wb less than a month ago from eircom. i wasn’t sure about wb as i hadn’t even heard of them
before i went to switch but after seeing the customer reviews i said its worth a shot . thank god i switced as eircom has to be the biggest joke of isp iv’e ever used. if you have clear line of sight go for it you wont be disappointed . i went for 7 mbs ,that’s what i get,occasionally more, should of changed years ago.

After a poor experience with another Wireless Broadband Supplier I was very carefull about using another. I should not have been! After some study I called Wicklow Broadband and asked that I be connected up. Following a quick check for suitability the Installation Engineers were out and within a relatively short time we were connected up with an excellent quality Wireless Broadband throughout the house. Support is excellent and I highly recommend Wicklow Broadband is available in your area.

We switched to WBB about 4 months ago now. Once we pinned down an installation date, it was all systems go. Very happy with the speed and performance. Support is extremely good, I had a problem early on a Sunday morning and even got a response and my problem solved within half an hour. Excellent Service. Only downside every single time an Engineer comes to our offices, it rains!!!! We will be hoping for no on site support requirements this summer!!!

I’ve been with Wicklow broadband for about 4 years now and I have to say they’ve been great. I’m getting around 7mb download speeds where eircom can barely hit 1, especially in the evenings as I’m about 3 miles from the exchange. There not a huge company like the rest of them but this means you get a more personal service. I’m just off the phone after an hour of speaking with there technical dept (which I called at 5pm on a Saturday evening) as I am having problems with a fancy router that I bought from the net which turns out to be a dud, and they had no problem going through everything with me, even though I didn’t buy it from them.
I have recommended them to quite a few of my neighbors and they have all been well impressed with the service and download speeds after suffering for so long with the phone line speeds that come with the other providers in this area.

Got it in the middle of last year. Engineer came out and in no time we were up and running. Very good speeds. I do have to restart my router once a fornight or so but no biggie.generally very nice to deal with and im happy overall with performance. I had contacted them via mail a few times about getting repeaters in so i could use my camera system remotely but got no response from them. Only disappointing part really.looking to get a business set up also in the next 8 weeks although i will be shopping around.

I’ve been using Wicklow Broadband for many years now in my own business and in previous employment and have always found the service excellent, there are very few disruptions and these are dealt with immediately. I have recently switched my home broadband to Wicklow Broadband which runs from the Kilanerin mast and the speed is a lot faster than my previous supplier Regional. This is the best broadband service I’ve ever had. I’ve lived in the US, England (London), Singapore and now here in Wicklow. Wicklow broadband is the fastest and most reliable service I’ve ever had. This is to include being compared with the commercial service I had in London (Colt) and even Singtel’s fibre service in Singapore.

I recently had to enquire about service in a new location, as we are moving so I called and sent an email. Very fast response.

I just changed to Wicklow broadband from three broadband and i have found the service to be far better you get the speeds promised and low ping which is brilliant for gaming never any lag. We have 4 connections with Wicklow broadband. Also all our credit card machines are processed over WIFI and Wicklow Broadband provide the connections for these also. It is vitally important that the connection is very reliable for us as if it goes down we cant take card payments. I must give it to Nicky and his crew that the reliability is great and service top class. Any time we have had problems after storms etc Nicky is all over it and sorts issues out immediately. Having had absolutely appalling broadband service for many months with endless promises of improvements that never came; we moved to Wicklow Broadband. Excellent , infact has never failed and always at a constant speed. The installment was efficient , quick and professional. I changed my landline to Blueface and installed a Dreambox TV. I’ve been a customer of Wicklow Broadband for 3 years now. Prior to them we had another company providing “broadband” in our area that was realistically worse than dial up. Nikki and his team promised to provide a fast, reliable connection and they have never failed to do so. In fact, through their constant monitoring and upgrading, the speeds have actually improved! Customer service is second to none with queries and problems looked after promptly and followed up to make sure the problem is resolved. I have no problem recommending Wicklow Broadband to anyone I know.

I have been a customer since 2009 and am very happy with this network.I had a problem on Saturday the bank holiday with my broadband, to which they sent out a crew to sort this problem at 9.30 at night on a bank holiday. Now thats what i call service. I would highly recommend this company, and have done to many people in the town where i live,and they couldnt be happier, not only with the service they provide,but also the speed of this broadband.Top marks from me guys. :)

I have been a Wicklow Broadband customer since 2008. The first year tested our patience a little with many outages however the team were always working to repair the system. Since then we have had very good service, occasionally there is an outage which is dealt with very promptly. My experience is that Nicky is always available on his mobile, responding when on holiday in Spain and at 7.30 on a Saturday morning! The price has remained unchanged since 2008 and the speed of the service has improved, can’t ask much more than that. I find it good value for money as it costs me the same amount as I used to pay Eircom for a 40kb dial up, and I now have 6MB with Wicklow Broadband, (I use internet phone with bluefish)

Wicklow broardband installed a broardband system for us last year, based in a valley in the middle of Laois the best we could get from the traditional suppiers was in reality less than 1 MB.At certain times of the the year we have exceptionally heavy traffic and his system has proved to be excellent. Any glitches have always been dealt with quickly and download speeds are more than adequate for our needs.

I was previously with ripplecom who were constantly letting us down, then out of the blue informed us that they were decomissioning the service in the area I live in, which is very remote. We were left with absolutely nothing, I contacted Wicklow Broadband and within a few months they had installed a new mast and are giving us a great service

The worst service I have have ever used, was relying on it for business, staff very unprofessional, made mistakes and blamed us and other third parties. Broadband did work well when connected, but couldn’t trust staff to install correctly or on time.

Following a few teething problems in the beginning the reliaibility since is much improved. Additionally the service and promptness of response has also improved immensely.

We have been with Wicklow Broadband now for the last 4 years. We were with a different provider previously but had a terrible reliability and customer service experience. We have not looked back since moving to WW BB. The speed and reliability is great. Any issues we’ve had (mainly down to our own fault e.g cables and router problems) have always been handled with courtesy and sorted really quickly. We’ve found the guys in their back-office and in the field great to deal with. We’ve found that over the years as they upgraded their hardware that they have actually increased their speeds without any additional cost or fuss. Overall I would recommend the service.

regarding performance, reliability, and value for money i give wicklow broad band top marks. when a problem arose last year it took a while to recieve attention, however maybe that was a blip. when i had a problem recently it was attended to promptly. the staff are top class.

I’ve been with Wicklow Broadbans for some years, because they were at one time the only internet provider in the relatively remote part of Wicklow where I live. I’ve always found the customer service to be helpful and swift, even when you call in on weekends and holidays. Performance is just fine, and the costs are fair. Sometimes the system fails, but only in extreme weather conditions, and the company always works hard and fast to remedy the situation. I warmly recommend them.

Hi. I am just wonder if they still use a top quality materials to make all this internet connections? I can remember all wires fixed to trees, roofs, laying around the houses. Are they senders/receivers still mounted to trees together with a 20kg car battery? This company is a joke and the quality equals zero. Customer service does not exist.

When Wicklow broadband moved to my area they were the only high speed internet service provider, in the last 4 years eircom broadband has become available but we have decided that the quality of service, unlimited download limits, great speed and local expert knowledge and individual treatment from Wicklow Broadband that there is no way we would ever move to eircom or one of the other big companies. Its great to have a local company offering such a high standard of service.

I must say that I have heartily recommended Wicklow Broadband to all and sundry. Not only has their service been consistently excellent, despite unfortunate usually weather related outages, they offer a range of services at very competitive rates. I must take issue with previous complaints about customer service. At all times, whether it’s by email or by text I have always received a timely informative response. I need the internet for my business, and Wicklow Broadband have given me the best experience and have been the most reliable ISP I have dealt with to date.

I have been with WWB for over 18 months. Speed and attention is very consistent with what they promised in terms of upload and download speeds. Customre servce is very good – had a recent issue with my internet access and they were out in 3 hours and changed the dish which has fixed the problem. Value for money are extremely good and leave likes of Eircom and Digiweb for dead. Recommend them highly and am not moving

Have been with WW Broadband for over 3 years. Very happy with service – no complaints. Any issues have always been sorted very quickly with no fuss. They’re nice guys to deal with. We have a business broadband package which has excellent download speeds. We are near the Sugarloaf in a valley and nothing else has worked as good. Overall I would recommend the service.

Hi I got Wicklow Boradband after having ripplecom/calidus/torque for many years and just got so fed up with their ****** service and am now with WBB and have to say they rock I have a 5MB commection and it always work great for streaming (netflicks) downloads and games xbox and pc.
Never had any troubles and if there is one it is usually fixed very quickly. Customer service is gerat too.

was having major difficulty getting a decent internet service where i lived and was required to wait for a couple of weeks for connection, not with wicklow broadband, had me connected the same day and had a guy set up everything the day after, so far, i’ve gotten exactly the speeds i paid for (which are alot cheaper than most too) and generally everything has been consistant and excellent, highly recommended!

I live in Kilcoole and wired broadband is hopeless. I switched to Wicklow Broadband nearly 2 years ago and the service just keeps getting better and better. The customer service is fantastic and everyone is very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend Wicklow Broadband.

We have been using Wicklow Broadband for about a year now. We have found the service to be of top quality. We have never before experienced such download speeds. Our previous supplier couldn’t understand that we all are in 24/7 mode these days. If we had a Friday PM problem with them, it wouldn’t be fixed until the Monday. With WB it is attended to immediately. We are based in the Coolgreany area of North Wexford.

Need ISP in Wicklow, want fantastic customer service, understand it won’t be the cheapest but know you will get what it says on the tin and If ever something hic cups then the service will be there for you then Wiclow B B is a no brainer

I live in the Glencree Valley where normal broadband is not available

I tried satellite (a few years ago) and the speed and download restrictions proved unworkable. (Satellite is better now but still more expensive).

I also had the problem of poor mobile phone signals

Then along came Wicklow Broadband and changed all that.

I now have:-

1. Consistent and reliable download and upload speeds
2. VOIP phone with unlimited national landline calls for 10 Euro per month (I use Bluefish)
3. Using Vodafone “SureSignal” 5 bar GSM mobile phone connection

The connection depends on clear line-of-sight between my antenna and the Wicklow Broadband mast.

Wicklow Broadband are a good technical crew. They love getting the technology right and will work with you to resolve any issues.

They are poor at responding to support emails and hopefully they will focus on improving this. This will be critical for them if they want to grow and stop people moving to satellite.

The best way to ensure that you get good support is to get the mobile phone number of one of the technicians (Nikki is the best) – then it works!

The result of all this is that I can now work from home whenever I want and know that my internet and phone and mobile phone will work!

As a small company based in Delgany, it was difficult to get broadband where we are located, and for our our type of business it was essential to be connected. We found that Wicklow Broadband, a small dedicated company provided us with the service that easily surpassed that of Eircom or any other company for that matter. I’m not sure I would agree with some previous posts about bad ‘customer service’, because during the past two winters when we had snow storms, these guys were breaking their backs to make sure mother nature didn’t impede on our broadband service, while some other people I know who were with other providers (including Eircom) were left quite literally stranded. Very happy with this company.

I have been using Wicklow Broadband for over two years now. I find their service to be fast and reliable. I had moved away from another provider and I am glad I did. The after sales service cannot be compared to any provider we were with previously. There speeds have remained constant and fast, not unlike some providers where your speed disappears after the first week. This is a company that cares about it’s customers and reputation. Very happy with Wicklow Broadband and service provided by Nikki and Co. They had a breakdown there recently in our area – Kilmacanogue – just for the evening, was up and running first thing next morning. I can’t remember when there was a similar breakdown, two years or more anyway and it was fixed just as quick. So I reckon they’re good, although slightly pricey – but then again, with a router in our house, 3-4 people may all be online at the same time. So – I’m happy!

we live in delgany, which is a “bronze” area for broadband provided through the domestic landline owing to the distance from greystones exchange.
No….i never heard of it either :-) .. and a succession of providers were happy to take my money for years for an invariably non existent “service” .
on the recommendation of a friend i was connected to wicklow broadband, to the immediate delight of my family. initially we had the lowest speed but have since increased our package. quite simply-cannot fault this provider, this means one less headache..it just works, well.

Hi there

I have been using Wicklow Broadband for over five years. I feel I have received a very good service once we got over the inital teething problems. There were a few outages for short periods but not recently
I have recommended them to several other users and I have never heard any complaints.
If this situation changes I will have no hesitation letting you all know

Oh my god – you would do better with two cans and a piece of string. Their service is as flaky as a lepers leg. I use this service because those buffoons in eircom couldnt be bothered enabling the local exchange. Trying to load web pages can sometimes take long enough to make a cup of tea (i suppose I should be thankful of the time to make tea). Customer support is practically non exisitent, and in the past they have carried out network upgrades / work and we have had to ring them to find out why some of our services stopped working.
A classic case of a company survivng purely because there is no alternative to them.
And dont get me going on the cost that they charge either

Wicklow Broadband have been my provider now for over 4 years and have provided me with an excellent service, I am in an isolated area and the download and upload speeds are great and it does not vary. The guys are always on the other end of a phone if I need them, which is infrequent as the system works very reliably

Three cheers for Wicklow Broadband! I’d recommend them to anyone! Quick and painless installation, very obliging lads who went above and beyond the call of duty to help me out. Great connection speed and reliability. Brilliant support, I’ve contacted the team over a bank holiday weekend and they were there to help me out and arrived at my door the next working day. The issue I was having turned out to be a blown fuse in my house/ system nothing to do with the product at all and they still fixed it for me. I cannot commend them enough. Great product, great service and greatly appreciated! Well done, long may you continue Wicklow Broadband.

My experience is the same as most of the other comments, no reply to emails or phone calls, system works well with the odd outage normally on a sunday in my case and never for more than an hour. I too will change when I can get an alternative that will allow me to host website and ftp as i need for work and they block all the required ports, i have sent numerous emails to find out if they can provide a service for me to host website and ftp but they never reply..shameful customer services for the 21st century.

I reckon that when alternative becomes available people they will lose a lot of customers due to lack of communication and inability to provide basic hosting services to customers who need them.

Faster, Cheaper… & NO Eircom.

I provide IT consultation and support in Wicklow.
I’ve referred a number of my friends and clients to Wicklow Broadband.
I don’t do this lightly, as a small IT support business my reputation is vital.
Wicklow Broadband has matured in to a really reliable service.
Unless you can get fibre from UPC the speeds are way higher than the competition and it’s great value.

I used to love Irish Broadband but then they were bought by Imagine who are about as much use as Eircom.
Compared to my old IBB connection Wicklow Broadband is faster and cheaper.

For me the real clincher is that you get a speedy broadband connection and can tell Eircom where to stick their p!5s poor service.
My broadband now comes from a local business and a man I know.

Good competition serves us all. Nikki cares about his customers and his reputation. I genuinely think you should buy Wicklow Broadband and while you’re at it ask about Voice Over IP for your landline telephone.

In the past I know that one weakness of the service had been the ability to answer calls when something significant happened to the network. (on one occasion a competing company damaged a new and key part of the installation)
It had been difficult to comunicate updates like this to the client base. In response he recently invested a new service to manage incoming customer calls.

Wicklow Broadband has been a delight for us, as we thought we would never receive broadband where we live. It has improved our business life and the life of my three children with their studies and also keeping in contact with their network of friends. We could not live without it now. Also the service has been fantastic, if it cannot be sorted out over the phone they will be on your door step as soon as they can. I really appreciate all they have done for us.

I switched from Clearwire to Wicklow Broadband in january this year. The improvement in speed is incredible. On the few occasions that we had any problems they were promptly sorted out by their technical support team. I would have no difficulty in recommending this company to my friends & family.

I have clearwire now for the last year or so and its grand but before that I had these guys. Didn’t work in my house and they weren’t very helpful when I tried to cancel.

I heard good things about these at first but I think they were false claims.

Live in a rual area and dont have a lot of optios when it comes to service providers. I work from home on a regular basis so reliability is extreemly important to me. I moved from Regional Broadband to Wicklow Broadband almost a year and a half ago due to speed and reliabilty issues. I have to say form a reliabilty point of view I am happy. The system is down from time to time but it is a wireless system ! Customer service was an issue for me at first but I have to say there has been a marked improvement in that area over resent months.

I have been using Wicklow Broadband for at least 2 years and in that time I have never had any issue with contention and find it to be a very reliable service. I can remember one outage in that time but was able to rectify on a reset.
I only wish that I was getting more bandwidth for my buck at this stage. Overall though I can’t find any reason to complain and I don’t need a phone-line, thankfully.

I moved into the Wicklow area in February of this year and Wicklow Broadband were the only service providers that could offer me any reliable broadband. They had everything installed and set up within 2 days of my initial phone call. The internet speed is excellent and until today I have never had a problem.

Unfortunately, we lost internet connection this morning and, because the mobile phone reception in the area is poor, we rely heavily on our internet for both personal and business use. I phoned Nikki and after going through a couple of steps to rule out possible issues he said he would be down to me within the hour – which he was! Problem sorted and actually he sorted out the Vodafone Sure Signal for me which I was having a problem setting up.

He couldn’t have been more helpful and I’m a very happy customer – I couldn’t recommend them more!

I’ve been using Wicklow Broadband for almost a year now. I must agree with Kevin that when it’s working, its excellent. I pay for 3Mb/s down 1Mb/s up and that’s exactly what I get, not like all the mainstream companies that deliver, at best, less than half the speeds they advertise. However, there have been several outages in the last few months which have taken upto 2 days to fix. Someof them were just unfortunate, the arial on Kilpoole hill was struck by lightening 3 times, I actually saw two of these myself. The real failing of Wicklow Broadband is letting people know what’s going on. Their website tells you nothing at all. Your phone calls go to an uninformative voicemail and they never get returned. Texts are simply ignored. You are left in the dark not knowing whether you’ll ever get your broadband back again. There have been several occations where they think they can just take down their system at any time of day for routine maintenance without giving you any prior warning and most of these have been first thing on a Monday morning!! Basically, this companies customer service is totally appalling. It’s a shame because it could be sorted out quite easily but my comments, like my telephone calls, are completely ignored. I have two neighbours that would join up, but I just can’t recommend it. Sorry Nikki, sort your customer service out.

I use Wicklow Broadband, and, when it’s working, its fantastic – low contention, and reliable…..however, since November, there have been at least 5 outages, some of them lasting for 2-3 days. Two of these outages were blamed on lightning hitting the mast on Kilpoole Hill…..I find this hard to believe, as Irish Broadband and O2 also use the same mast and they didn’t have outages during the same snow/lightning storms.

The customer support provided by Wicklow Broadband is appallingly poor – it seems that there is only 1 person behind this company, and he (“Nikki”) never returns calls, never answers the phone, never reads or returns email. I host many websites with Blacknight, and anytime they have any issues, I get notified by email, or via Facebook or Twitter – not so with Wicklow Broadband.

Overall, I don’t want to have to change, merely as there is no real alternative in the area that I live, and hope that these customer service and reliability issues are sorted out, sooner rather than later.
